Just booked up to go back to Florida this year,
And I got lots of brochures for me and my friend and it said transformers ride coming summer 2013
In my opinion jaws was so much better it was an original I like transformers there great but jaws was better!! :(

Jaws is not being replaced by Transformers. Jaws is being replaced by the Harry Potter expansion...Transformers is a new attraction and it's not replacing anything.

Transformers is located across from Rip Ride Rockit and beside Shrek in the location the used to house different things but for the last many years has been empty. Monsters Cafe is at the front of it.

Jaws is being replaced by London and will include a Gringott's roller coaster as well as Diagon Alley and a Hogwarts Express that will travel between the two parks. This area has not be announced yet (to keep people from postponing their vacations) but many details have been leaked.

I"m sorry but its beyond annoying and actually really angers me if they are going to do away with Jaws. Why not just tear down the whole park and put in Gigli rides? Or whatever the flavor of the moment is. :furious:

Jaws has been gone for over a year now. It's sad to have it gone bit it was a very expensive attraction to run and wasn't as popular as it once had been. It makes sense that it was the next in line.

Jaws has been gone, just a hole in the ground, for about a year now out in Orlando.

Might be different at the CA park, not sure. I know nothing about that one.

As others have mentioned, not only is it closed it is LONG LONG gone..The whole area was demolished and the show building for what is probably the gringotts bank vault ride is well under construction.I was sad I never got to experience JAWS..It closed for good 2 weeks before my trip last Jan..But I understand why they did it.Within weeks of closing it , the area was drained of water and demolished .Harry Potter has revitalized Universal Orlando and is already considered a classic...I think it has the staying power and will bring in many more people once Phase 2 is done.

Jaws was an OLD ride! I remember riding it at Universal in CA more years ago than I can count! Most kids today don't even know the movie!!

Luckily I got my money's worth out of Jaws over the years (rode many times), but it was a bit long in the tooth!! I hope Harry Potter doesn't fade in popularity too soon; Universal seem to be going a bit Potter mad!

This. There's an old saying about eggs and one basket... :rolleyes1

Did they at least keep the hanging shark? Lots of great photos of that shark.

I brought my kids on the ride a few months before it closed - they had no idea what Jaws was about. After we got home, we all watched the movie together. They LOVED it. My 10 year old is constantly asking to watch it again.

I don't think that the Jaws ride was too old. Kids may not be as familiar with the movie but the idea of a tour boat being attacked by a shark is pretty simple. I do wish that they would have just updated Jaws but space at Universal is limited and they want to attract new people. Jaws wasn't doing that.

Despite what it may sound like, over 90% of Islands of Adventure has NOTHING to do with Harry Potter and even with the new London area for Harry Potter at Universal Studios Florida, over 90% of that park will have NOTHING to do with Harry Potter.

During my last 2 visits to the Universal Orlando parks, I did not even go near WWOHP and I had a great time.

Harry Potter stuff is basically just fantasy. Even if nobody knows who Harry Potter is, fantasy will still be popular. It is basically just dragons and magic wands and the good guy vs. the bad guy. As long as the rides are excellent, the characters don't matter. Many excellent rides at Disney are very much a case in point...Haunted Mansion, Spash Mountain to name a few.

I hated to see it go too, it was a classic but like others said, many of the younger generation have no idea what 'JAWS' was.

That isn't how they're going about things...They're adding a new Transformers, expanding "Springfield" in the Simpsons area, adding at least one or two possible attractions in Jurassic Park, possibly a new attraction in Seuss Landing...possibly a new waterpark and lots of other stuff.

Universal said last year they are spending $1.5 Billion in things at the Orlando parks and less than half of it is being used for these projects so far, as far as what I've heard.

I can't even imagine when it might fade. I was just leaving my 20s when I first heard of HP, I'm now 43 and still love reading the books and watching the movies. Now I have my son, who is 8, and is still in the process of reading the books and watching the movies, and I'm sure will read them over and over again as he grows up and understands different aspects of the books. I'm quite sure he'll introduce them to his kids...

I wonder sometimes about Pixar overload at DLR and WDW...but I don't worry at all about the Wizarding World stuff at Universal.
