Jasper National Park fire

I’m having a hard time with this today. We’ve done annual trips to Jasper the last few years and it’s such a dream. Even well south of Jasper the fire smoke is thick in the air here. It feels like we no longer have summers here and yet there’s no personal or political will to even try and make a difference. All we can do is hope for rain.

Sad. DH has fond memories of visiting and we're looking to head up that way when responsibilities lighten here.

Utter devastation now being reported; 1/2 of all structures in the town (homes and businesses) are lost. Rainy conditions today have allowed firefighters back into the area. There were 25,000 people evacuated and blessedly, not one casualty has been reported.

Down in CA on a trip, and had ash raining down on us yesterday from the Park Fire. Will miss Lassen NP today as the visibility and air quality is so poor that we really just want to be out of the area. Will head further west and spend an extra day coastal/redwoods. But mostly I'm sad for all the residents in the path, and furious that it was caused intentionally by some jerk pushing a car in a ravine. Sorry also for the devastation in Jasper.
