Just saw this on Jason and Billy's Facebook page. These talented performers used to play at the Canada pavilion in Off Kilter, and have spent the past four years doing a show in Scat Cat's Lounge at POFQ. It's an all-request show with various types of music including classic rock, country, and more. Jason plays fiddle, Billy plays guitar, and they sing.

Anyway they said their run is ending on Sept. 29, and it looks like they will be replaced with a Dixieland band.

Jason and Billy are great, and I always looked forward to their show on my trips.

Does anyone know the email address for the manager of POFQ? I wonder if it would be worth asking if they would consider keeping this show, after all? Maybe if enough people write in?

The General Manager for the Port Orleans Resorts is John Berko - WDW.GM.PortOrleans@Disney.com

I just read this. My heart dropped. I was planning on adding a night to my vacation in April 2020 JUST to see Jason and Billy. I'm absolutely emailing the GM.

Edit: I emailed the GM above. I realize that these things rarely do anything, and Disney at the end of the day doesn't give a darn about 100 emails. But I feel better.

Thank you, @L_MD. If the GM replies to you, would you please let us know?

I really, really enjoyed their show and hate to see it go.
That said, theme-wise, it did not fit and a Dixieland style show would
I can't see them backing off their going for that reason.
What would be ideal is for them to go another resort to play. Surely there's one where their music style fits better

Theme-wise, I think the "regal" in "Regal Eagle" is a poor choice of name for the new American BBQ place in Epcot, but that doesn't seem to stop them from using the name.

Anyway, I'd be glad to see the Jason and Billy show at any resort, or Disney Springs, or a nearby offsite venue.

Except name and theme aren't the same things. Theme is barbeque and that IS a natural choice.
I'm sure Eagle is included based on it being the national symbol, even if it says nothing about barbeque.

Actually, I do view the name as something that should match the theme. YMMV.

The "eagle" part of the name fits the American pavilion's theme well; the "regal" part does not.

Regardless, I mentioned that only as an example that not everything is in keeping with the theme. I'd rather not go too far down that tangent here though, as this thread is about the Jason and Billy show. Thanks!

We finally got the opportunity to see them last month. They were amazing! They got a request for a song that neither of them knew, they pulled it up on their iPad, Billy started on his guitar and singing, and Jason came in on his fiddle and they were perfect! I was seriously blown away.
That being said, I totally agree with AngiTN.

Totally agree. And I love the idea of a Dixieland band in the space. We were on a cruise a couple of years ago and they had a Dixieland band and it was so much fun, definitely fits in with the theming better.
I would definitely go see Jason and Billy if they went elsewhere, heck even off property if we have a free night and they're not too far away.

I am sorry to see them go although happy there will be a new lounge with hopefully more comfortable seats & more TVs .We have always stayed at POFQ. On the nights the prior jazz performer ( who I understand was very good) played we never went to the lounge since we don't care for jazz. Only stopped in on non-music night to have a beer and watch a game. When Jason & Billy started we would stop by as we enjoyed their music mix.

I'm willing to wait and see what the new act is like. Heck, maybe I'll like it.

Now that a day has gone by and I'm a little less super-upset, I can say that my fingers are crossed that they get a gig somewhere else on property. If not, and if I am lucky enough to be in WDW when they're playing in Orlando or something, I'll Uber off-site to see them.

Anyway, for me, part of my reaction is- I just HATE it when Disney cuts something that's a drop in the bucket that lots of people enjoy. How much of a budgetary strain can a two-person show 4 nights a week be? Or operating the Muppet show in Liberty Square? Ugh.

Believe me, I hate that they're not going to be playing there any longer. But POFQ is not doing this to save money. They're not cutting, they're changing. According to Jason's Facebook post, there's going to be new entertainment most likely a Dixieland jazz band.

Yeah, I know, I misspoke on my last post. Anyway, I'm happy to wait and see what the new act is like. But it doesn't mean I have to like the news, even if it's a change and not a cut. Hopefully it will be a stellar addition, and it's nice that FQ is keeping an act around when so many resorts don't have one.

They aren't just being replaced. The lounge is moving into the old table service restaurant location and the current lounge location will become a beignet stand. According to the Port Orleans fan site anyway.

I hadn't heard that. Did you see anything about when? We'll be there for the first time in early November and had planned to spend some evenings in the lounge since the parks are closing by 9 most nights.

Sept. 29 is the last day for the show.

I'm not sure, but my guess is they will finish turning Bonfamile's into the new lounge before closing the old one. That being said, River Roost is a just as a short walk away! (I too will be staying at French Quarter in early November and I hope it's done.)
