I am looking for one for my dd. She asked Santa for a Jasmine costume for Christmas. I am not a prude (or maybe I am, who knows!) but I just don't like my dd wearing something with her belly exposed (she sometimes wears costumes out for trips to the store and whatnot). Has anyone seen one with the belly covered with something sheer? If this helps, she is 4 y.o. Thanks.

I got my dd2 the jasmine costume from disneyshopping.com and I got a size larger because the first one they sent the top was waayyy to small so they sent me the bigger size and it covers almost all her tummy so I just pull the pants up a little higher and it works.I also thought about going to the fabric store and getting some sheer fabric to make a little sash for around her waist...I am no prude either but I also do not want her little tummy showing lol I couldnt get her one of the dresses because she has a few problems with certain fabrics and the way they feel and the dresses are really scratchy but the jasmine really is so pretty on her!

My DD had the Jasmine costume a couple years ago and it did cover the belly. I didn't think they made them any other way! Hopefully you'll be able to find one; it was really cute on her.

if you dont go one size bigger the ones on disney.com do show some belly but they are really pretty so i go a little bigger to make up for that...also right now I think they are around 19.99 which is great,I paid 29.00 a few months ago.

If you just want something sheer to cover the belly, it would not be hard to just buy a costume and stitch a sheer panel to the costume.

I AM a prude LOL, my DD has asked for a Jasmine, but I have not sat down and made one to cover her belly (she HATES for her belly to show). Maybe now I should.

The Disney shopping.com ones last year covered the belly.

We had the same situation, DD wanted to do BBB and be Jasmine for MNSHHP. The costumes at BBB were the very small tops, it wasnt going to happen for DD. You can also order a size larger and run darts up the back of the top to take it in. (DD is so skinny we had to do that regardless.)

Another idea.

It's way too cold in Michigan at Halloween to wear any costume by itself. We had our 6 year old wear her Jasmine costume with a long sleeve white shirt under it to her school Halloween party. It worked great!

PS - The year before she wore a long sleeved yellow shirt under the Belle costume.

I saw one at either Target or Walmart last week I believe. The belly was definitely covered, sorry I can't remember which store.

Our last year Jasmine costume covered the belly too. It was a few years older though? We purchased it off eBay and it came with one of the make your own crowns from Disney, the wand, a regular Jasmine beaded crown, the jasmine outfit and then a bikini type top to interchange with it....WHAT???? Umm, this was a size 5/6 and I was shocked that someone had made the bikini/genie type top to match the pants....I must be a prude. But anyhow, the costume was the purple one and it covered her tummy and was really cute :) It was a Disney store costume.

I'm always the one making her dd's pick out one piece swimsuits too LOL

Bellydancer here. If you can find swimsuit lining you can sew a little bodysuit to make a tummy cover. Or you could try (let me see if I can explain this):

-Buy a sheer fabric the same color as the costume (enough to go around your child, plus a bit extra)
-Lay it out flat (unfolded) on a table or floor & pick it up by the center, an inch or so from the top of the piece of fabric.
-Attach that center under the center of the top. You can then drape it around her stomach & then attach it in the back & let the extra hang down in the back.

Check out this page for ideas on how to cover a tummy. I was trying to describe #3 but there are several options.

Check dance wear stores too for nude colored leotards... *(from a fellow prude mommy to my 3 yr old!) :lmao:

I think that is a great idea!
You could also use a nude colored stocking and cut it to where it would cover her chest and bellly, or just sew it/glue it to the costume.
I've done this before for myself when I was I Dream of Jeanie 1 year in high school.
Leotard is a great idea though. I think I may get one to put under DD's dresses on the disney trip next month.

Just got one at Toys R Us, which says its an "exclusive Toys R Us design" that has a panel that covers the belly. Its sheer but you really can't see through it. Its really cute and its all one piece.

I love all the ideas - Katie111, I'm going to get to TRU tomorrow to see if they have it. I LOVE that one. It's sold out online though. If I can't get that, I will def. be doing one of the ideas given. Thanks so much!

Bought the Jasmine and Mulan costume from disney shopping last year for DD and if you purchase it a little larger than her real size it will cover the belly and be like a little shirt. The bonus is that it will last longer. The one on sale this year on disney shopping is like pink or lavender, but the one we purchased last year was sky blue. They also have all the accessories, and they are beginning to go on sale now as Halloween is almost here...Good Luck!
