Ja's WDW Make A Wish PreTrip April/May '13

Phew! Today was a beach ball! (Ignoring that it's 32F here :lmao:)

We received some pixie dust in the mail today pixiedust: DIS name PurpleEars was generous enough to make the girls beautiful crossbody bags. The girls LOVE them! Ja is especially in awe of the fact that it means she'll be able to get her own snacks! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

My goodness! That package got there quickly! DH just put it in the mail yesterday morning so I figured it won't get there for a few more days yet.

I am glad to see the girls like their bags. I hope they will come in handy for your trip (and after your trip too!).

I actually enjoy orgami. It was one of the few crafts available to us when I was young. I hope you had fun with the beach ball. I am not looking forward to the snow this weekend :(

I was surprised to see the package too! The mail gods must have known the girls needed extra pixie dust today :-)

I think I figured out the origami. My past experience with it is making cootie catchers and cranes. I was debating introducing C to the story of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes, but since Sadako dies from Leukemia it might be best to leave that story alone for a few years.

I refuse to think about snow this weekend. Ugh. I was out with my Running Room clinic on a 5k this evening and the wind was already brutal.

Yay for figuring out the origami. :) Sorry your weather is still so cold. Ours is going to drop again, but not that cold.

Love the adorable bags! :lovestruc

Lots of portable Lysol and hand sanitizer, right!

::yes:: Why is travel Lysol so expensive??

Ja continues to be her badgerish self. We had a birthday party for my mom yesterday and Ja was SO happy to be out of our house and able to see Grandma and her Uncle and Aunt. She's been complaining of a headache off and on for the last couple of days but seems to be powering through it. I really miss being able to give her Tylenol, but can't since it might mask a fever. The only alternative is morphine, which I don't want to give unless she really needs it.

Yesterday's countdown activity was a little notepad shaped like a watermelon slice. We used a paper clip to make it round and the girls took turns hiding it. Today they decorated the Countdown Box with LOTS of Mickey and Princess stickers.

W and I are spending the weekend fridge shopping. Ours has decided to spoil 3 jugs of milk, and defrost everything in the lower half of the freezer. Definitely not an expense we need right now. Ugh. Once in a blue moon something like this happens that kind of makes me miss apartment living ;-p

I'm busy packing for a Family overnight camp hosted by one of the provincial Kids With Cancer groups. Haven't packed for camp since Jr High band camp, so this might be interesting! We're going Fri to Sun next weekend. After that, the REAL packing begins!!!!

It's snowing again, but at least it's melting off the driveway so no shovelling!
Our Costco had the big 80 wipe Lysol containers on sale, so I decided I'm taking 2 of those and will replenish a ziploc bag each day. I also found cute hand sanitizer holders (I think Angel got something similar in a Big Give) that every person will have clipped to their purses or belt loops and will replenish daily from my gigantic Purell container. Dumb germs. Lol.

I always smile when you call her a badger. :goodvibes So glad she was able to get out & have some fun. Hugs & prayers about the headache. I've seen how it was for Angel to deal with her headaches without meds, and even though Ja is a badger, she's just a little one, and I wish she didn't have to go through that. :(

Glad they're having so much fun counting down.

Ugh is right about the fridge - so sorry

Have a great time at camp. :) So nice that they offer programs like that.

Glad the snow doesn't need shoveling. Our forcast is cold & rainy all week, and Orlando will be 30 degrees warmer than home the day we leave. :cheer2: Very soon you'll be there too. :cool1:

Angel has a collection of different scented hand sanitizers. :rotfl: She wears a wdw bottle lanyard with one of those cute holders attached all the time at school, so bought several bottles at Bath & Body Works with gift cards she got at clinic. I got Tom a holder for the trip too, and found the scented hand sanitizers in packs of four at Dollar Tree, so we have lots for the trip. :) I can't use the hand sanitizer, even plain, it triggers my allergies horribly, so I use lots of wipes, and regular hand washing. Tom wanted spray Lysol (we have the Lysol wipes too), and the travel size is about as much as the full size.

Yes, dumb germs. We were in town today, and people were coughing everywhere. I don't think we'll ever be able to not hear every cough & sneeze now.

In case this week gets busy & I don't post much, have a fantastic trip! I can't wait to read all about it.

Thanks for everything Christi  I can't wait to reconnect when we get home and hear all about your trip. You're going to have an amazing time. :goodvibes

Mom2M07 - when do you guys get in on the 28th? We're off at Epcot that day, but were going to swing back to GKTW for a break. Hoping to make it to MK for the parade and fireworks that night!

We actually have no idea! Our Wish Granters haven't told us when our flights are and I am trying SO hard to be patient and wait for them to give us all our details. We'll be there the whole week together, so I'm sure we'll see each other a bunch!

LOVE the pixie dust!! I love the countdown activities! What a fun way to countdown to your trip!!

I hope you find out soon and it's one with good timing. We get to do Maddie's ideal flight - we leave at midnight and get to Orlando at 7am. At least it's direct!

Thanks Jackie! The girls are having fun with the activities!

That is awesome that Ja gets to have her own snacks! Yay for food! :goodvibes

Part of the reason we call Ja our Honey Badger is her eating! The bag will come in super handy during steroid weeks.... :scared1:

Ja went in for bloodwork yesterday. She was AMAZING and so brave, since we went in to our community lab for an arm poke, not to the hospital to get her port accessed. I've heard many adults make A LOT more noise getting a needle :rotfl: Anyway, good news is her ANC is back up to 800 and her hgb and platelets numbers are perfect. So we start back with her 6MP and MTX and hope they don't drive everything right back down. Ja will be so happy to get back to school tomorrow!

We got more pixie dust in the mail yesterday! Judy (DIS name hey_jude) made the girls each a gorgeous outfit for our Animal Kingdom day :lovestruc

Both girls love Lion King, and the phrase Hakuna Matata is perfect for my Ja :hippie:

Thank you so much, Judy

Countdown Calender updates: day 7 & 8 - more origami! Day 9 - each girl got a journal to write/draw/glue things in. We might use it for autographs as well, so everything is in the same place. Day 10 - the girls got "J" and "C" luggage tags and Disney pins with Stitch (also a family fave) flying an airplane.
I figure I'll take pictures of everything when I start packing next week :goodvibes

Thank you so much, Judy

You are very welcome. I hope they enjoy wearing them at AK and the Rainforest Cafe - 2 favourites at my house!

Judy

Sorry Ja had to get an arm poke. So glad her ANC is up, and that she got to go back to school. :)

Love the Lion King outfits :lovestruc

More origami :rotfl: Guess what Angel got in her Easter basket to take on the plane.....

The countdown calendar is so fun :)

Catch up time!

We survived our weekend at Family Camp, despite a foot of snow coming down and our bus to get home getting stuck trying to pick us up! The girls had a great time; they were so well behaved on the 3 hour bus ride. :woohoo: There was a photobooth set up in the dining hall and Ja had way too much fun putting on silly hats and getting her picture taken. This kid loves the limelight!

Our GKTW brochure showed up in the mail yesterday! I think we're meeting to get the final papers next Thursday. So we just need to get Ja's bloodwork done next Thursday morning to check her levels and we're good to go! :cool1:

The countdown box has recently contained: Day 11 - envelopes to use for writing a letter to a Disney character Day 12 to 16 - disposable cameras and pretty stickers/paper/etc to decorate them with Day 17 - lip gloss

WE'RE GETTING SO CLOSE! WOOOOO!

We just got 3 pieces of fantastic news :-). 1) Friends of ours are flying down for a Disney Cruise and we figured out we're on the same flights there and back! 2) We get to go to an NHL game on Monday, thanks to our local Kids With Cancer group 3) Ja will be featured as our MAW chapter's Wish Child for World Wish Day! We'll be ON our trip for the actual day, but they want to interview Ja before we leave! She's going to love it!
