Melinda--jarhead is a term to refer to a marine--thinks it has something to do with their hairdo. I think they gave the nickname to themselves. It is a new movie with Jake Gyllenhall (sp?). Looks awesome!

The movie is based on a book written by Anthony Swofford, a former Marine, regarding his experiences before and during the first Gulf war.

From what I heard, the book the film is based on is very critical of war (or perhaps the reasons we went to the first war in the Gulf). If that's the case, I can't see how it could be considered a recruitment film.

As for me, I'm not sure about this one. I'm all for a good war flick (Saving Private Ryan is in My Top Ten Films of All Time), but I don't really like anyone that's in this one.

I don't generally like war movies..I never see them at the theatre.. Even though I am a Jarhead, I have no desire to see it. I'm sure I'll watch it when it hits Netflix
