I think it's Teppan Edo - do they have fried rice? Crazy question, I know, but that's all my youngest will eat at a Japanese place.

At our local Japanese restaurant, we get soup, salad, entree (meat, fried rice, grilled veggies). Is their menu similar?

TIA!

The menu is similar, but each thing is a la carte, and no, there is not fried rice. The entree only comes with vegetables and noodles.

I think Teppan Edo is more like real Japanese restaurants opposed to most Hibachi restaurants. Fried rice is more of a Chinese dish while Japanese eat more white rice. (I think ;) ) Anyway we had a great time there with our very picky kid.

A lot of Japanese restaurants in the US -- I'd say the vast overwhelming majority of them -- are owned and operated by non-Japanese, often Koreans or Chinese, and as a result there is some menu crossover. But as JC&ALI'SMOM mentions, traditional Japanese dining won't have fried rice. In fact, in Japan you generally get fried rice only at Chinese restaurants.
