How do I get rid of Japanese Beattles. They are on my calla lillies and my roses. I have sprayed them twice with a spray to get rid of them, but I still got them. When I sprayed them the last time I sprayed directly on the beattles and it didn't seem to phase them at all. What do you recommend? Thanks.

I have a problem with those bettles also and although my husband would spray some type of medicine, they still come, so I go outside during the evening and catch them and drain them in water.

Here's what I had found on the internet, that maybe you could try-

Japanese Beetle Traps: Uses patented BIOLURE® control release pheromone system to lure insects into the trap and disrupt the mating cycle.

The beetles are loving my roses as much as I do. I dust with Sevin and that seems to keep them under control. Just did it last night I'm praying it worked.

My neighbors use the traps. In fact they are sold out around here. I think it attracts them to the yard. Haven't used them in years.

Sevin works. So does a flame-thrower.

When I put up Japanese beetle traps they came zooming from neighboring yards and across the street. The following year I persuaded the neighbors to put them up and I didn't. Far more effective.

Hmmm....interesting, I wonder if that would work for slugs too? :scratchin Wouldn't that be nice if it did!! :sunny: ;)

DisneyBug, I hope you can get rid of those nasty beetles! ::yes::

Oh, and don't let Olena and her flame thrower scare you..lol. ;) :D

:flower3:

Kim, Have you tried a dish of beer for slugs? Also salt poured on them works instantly.

Now that my neighbor has put up several traps, I have seen very few. The secret to those lure traps it to put them on the far corners of your property. If you have them near your plants the beetles will stop for a snack on their way to the trap.

Chessie, I'm glad to hear that the beetles have all left your place, and gone over to the neighbours!! ::yes::

Deb, I've tried beer, wood ash, egg shells, slug bait, putting down boards and picking them off in the morning, well, just about everything! Actually the slugs haven't been a real problem this year. Of course, now that I've said that, I've probably put a hex on myself (or my plants)!!! :D

It might not be a hex if they come back.

:chat: one slug to another
" Party all night in Kim's garden. Free beer and wood chips. Hang out under her deck just be gone by morning. "

I dusted with Sevin last night {cough, cough, pittewee} They better be gone by today. I see my neighbors all have their traps set so it should work.
Bye bye beetles::yes::
