My Husband and I were thinking about going the week of Jan 2nd 2006. Can someone tell me what the resorts/weather/crowds will be like that week. (from past experience of course)

I love January. Weather is unpredictible. It could be warm and nice, or it could be cool and rainy (we've worn both shorts and jeans/jackets, sometimes all of it on the same trip or in the same day!!!). The crowds will probably decrease drastically after new years. Be aware that the half marathon and marathon are the 7th and 8th, so if you're sticking around till the end of the week, expect to see the crowds increase somewhat as the marathoners move in. However, a lot of them only come in for just the weekend, so the week after the race sees the crowds decrease again. The resorts will probably be realtively uncrowded, again until the marathoners come in, although even then you probably won't see sold out conditions at most resorts. The maraton makes some difference at the parks, but not so much that the waits become unbearable. But I'd say that between the 2nd and the 5th or so you shold have the place mostly to yourself. HTH.

I agree with what Disneefun said above. The only thing I'll add is that while the marathon does disrupt traffic in and around the parks, the impact on wait times is nil. When we did the marathon in 2004 pretty much everything at the parks was a walk-on all weekend.
