I'm thinking about planning my next trip for january.
Who has gone, and what do you think of the world at that time of the year?
Did an awesome summer trip and now I want to see it during the winter.

I haven't gone in January, but my mom said it's awesome.
I'm going in January this year, I think it'll be nice. The weather should be a bit cooler, and there are far fewer people there.

You will love January! I took my DD for her 21st this Jan. right after Martin Luther King Day around the 16th. Weather was awesome, little crowds, we didn't even use fast pass one time. Rates are generally good too and we got free hoppers with water park and more passes. We went to PI and DQ along with the water park. Great time!
Plan, book, and enjoy:hippie:

Welp i went ahead and made my reservations.. Jan 5-12 lol.. so that takes care of the winter vacation

Crowds are light, weather is nice, but keep in mind it can get cold even by northeast standards. Usually we will have a night or two that dips below freezing--of course, we are just as likely to have days where it hits 80, so you just kind of have to pack everything.

Strangely, while the parks are not as crowded, because there are usually a couple conventions in town, the nightlife (PI, City Walk, etc.) can be pretty happening in January.

We were there this past Jan 2007, we loved it... we arrived on Dec. 31 and stayed away from the parks, we went to bed early, so the next day we were at Magic Kingdom at 9:00am, the park was empty... it stayed that way until around 2:00pm... our vacation was from Dec 31st - Jan 15th and we had a blast... we had good weather (80s) and cool weather, but it was fine... I would go in Jan for sure... but my next trip is for Halloween 2008, never been at that time of the year.

I miss a good southern winter so that was one reason i booked for Jan.When I was there last month it wasn't too terribly busy

I've been 3 times in January and we'll be there again Jan 08. The first time we went in January, it was the coldest it had been in decades in Florida and we scrambled to purchase gloves and hats along with everyone else there. We still enjoyed the light crowds enough to do it again and fortunately, the last two January trips have had many days warm enough to go to the water parks. I'm hoping for the same this January!

Oh, goody! I'm planning a trip too! Jan 12-19. Been in early Dec, Mar, May and Sept.

Just me and dd18 (unless she has to work during her winter break from college)!

We only go in January. We've had weather from cold/rainy/freezing to sunny/warm/humid. No crowds, no lines, no heat which seems to remove the factor that seems to turn people into maniacs during the summer (from what I've read). Regardless of the weather, a bad day at Disney always beats a great day at work.

Glad to see the positive responses .. What are some neat things in the park that you only see during the winter months?

My sister and I are going then too. We went in January this year, and it was awesome. The lines weren't bad at all. We literally walked onto a lot of the popular attractions, like BTM and Soarin'. The worst day crowd-wise was the last day we were there which was a Sunday of all things. Even then, it really wasn't that bad. :)

Some of the Osbourne stuff was still up while we were there. So were the decorations at DTD. We were there in mid-January this year. I'm not sure when they take that stuff down.

Jan is a great time to go to disney. i go every year in jan during the day is is nice not to hot and not to cold. i will be there this jan as well hope you enjoy may see you there.

My fiance and I will be honeymooning at POR January 6-13, 2008!!! YAYAYAY!!! This is also both of our first times at WDW!! We are sooo excited we can hardly wait!! I am so thrilled to see all the positive things regarding crowds and weather!! The only thing i am a little worried about is the Marathon... It begins and ends right in the middle of our stay... Anyone have thoughts or past experiences about the marathon??

CONGRATS !!!. You're gonna love it. I'll keep an eye out for the bride and groom mouse ears around the resort.

The marathon was going on when we were there last year; it has postitives & negatives--it does increase crowds (esp at the food areas of the resorts), but it also can cause the resorts to open & close the food areas earlier & later due to the race times! At least at some point during the marathon, they close portions of the roads around WDW, so if you are driving to the parks yourself, you will have to pay attention & if you are using disney transportation, it can cause a few longer rides to the parks if they have to be "re-routed". We were there 1/2-1/6/08. The Osbourne lights were still up & the decorations at EPCOT & AK were up the first few days; they started taking them down at the AKL on 1/4/08. There were still playing Christmas music at the parks as well those first few days. Not sure what decorations will remain after 1/6. Deb

our wedding is on jan 24 this year at the bw! i can't wait. it's a morning wedding, so i hope it's not too cold, i didn't want to do march-sept because it gets so hot-and heat in the big poofy dress wouldn't be good...

I'll be there with my sister and mom for the marathon weekend. Come cheer us on!!
