hello.

I recieved very sad news today, when telling a friend about my taking my family vacations to disneyland (Los Angeles). The dates I have are from January 5 through 9

Unfortunately my last 2 family vacations in disneyland were not of absolute joy for my family since both of those times we could not ride the Space Mountain. one time the Haunted Mansion and One Time the Star Tours.

this friend now tells me that from January 5 to 9... Those 3 rides will be closed down.

please let me know if this is true or not. I fly half of my family all the way from Australia and the other half from Mexico. And it will be a very sad thing for me if that was true.

note: I am going to post this same text on other parts of the forum beacuse I dont know exactly where I can get an answer.

Try this link to see the refurb schedule for those dates. Yes, Haunted Mansion is always down right after New Year's for the removal of the holiday overlay. Star Tours is currently undergoing a major refurb and will not reopen for several more months. Space, however, appears to not have anything going on. :)

I know it's a bummer when the rides you look forward to aren't going to be open.

thank you for replying.

its not going to be a fun holiday for the third time. I hate myself. Ruining the family vacations again. stupid disney :mad::mad::guilty:

Aww...sorry to hear that two of your favorite rides will be down during your trip. However, look at the bright side, you guys are still going to Disneyland! :goodvibes Plus, it's a good excuse to plan another Disney trip when all of those rides are up and running! :thumbsup2

That's a bummer. But HM is usually down in January, so that's one thing to keep in mind for the future. At least Space Mountain is open.

Hydroguy has a thread about historical closures or something like that. It's good to look into so you can book when it's most likely your favorite rides will be open.

Gomez, I understand you are very upset about this, but if you decide now that your entire vacation is DESTROYED for everyone involved, you are setting yourself up to have a bad time. You're going to DISNEYLAND!! And you're going at a time when crowds will be nonexistent! :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9: Focus on the other things you love (and certainly there must be other things if you're all willing to come from so far away). Try something new that you've never done before....World of Color, book a Fantasmic Dessert Package, search for Hidden Mickeys, pin trade, or anything else that you might never have otherwise done. DCA has new things as well. My girls and I discovered the Silly Symphony Swings....it's one of my absolute favorite rides now, and I almost blew it off.

I hope you have a great time....I really really do.

Next trip try late August. I thought DL would be wall to wall crowded but it was so empty I could for the first time hear the cricket in the swamp area of Pirates Of The Caribbean!! and the words in the Haunted Mansion!!

And it wasn't as hot as thought it would be and when it did get hotter than we Oregonians could take we went back to the air conditioned hotel for a nap and then went back to the parks when it was cooling down.

All the rides were up and running, and the parks were open early and stay open late!!

I'm sorry to hear about your fav rides being down, but I promise you will still have a wonderful vacation and time in Disneyland. We just got back from a 5 day visit, I never got to ride Space or Soaring and I so wanted to ride both of them along with a bunch of other things I really really wanted to do, but I still had a wonderful time with my family. There are so many things to see and do you just have to go in with the right attitude and it'll all be okay, like others have said, you're going to Disneyland, yahoo!!!! So lucky, my niece begs my sister to go every month and my BIL keeps saying no way. So be grateful you get to go. Enjoy and have a magical time!!
