anyone gotten any great or good deals for the end of january? when should i reserve by? if you have advice please give...

We will be heading down in Feb and actually reserved our rental in June. My thought is if prices go down I can always change it, but at least I'm locked in at the current rate.

Little did I know the rate I had booked back in June was a "deal".

I look every once and a while & I have not seen anything very good for an 8 day rental in mid January. I think it is too early to get a good rate. I will probably make a cancelable reservation in October or November. When I get within a month of my trip, I will look for better rates or even try Hotwire or Priceline.

the 8th day is killing me since we are taking it back at 7am... yeah i think i will keep looking, a little worried about Advantage can't find any reviews really. Come on people tell your experiences... maybe once it gets closer there will be some good discount codes?

We just booked a compact car through priceline. We tried for $25 a day but didnt get it and then tried for $27 and GOT IT! We have a car through National Car Rental which is in terminal. The other possible choices were Alamo, Hertz(only one off terminal), national, and Avis I think. It is great we saved over $130 bucks! If the check in experience is as good as I think it is going to be we might use priceline all the time. With Alamo and National you go out to the parking lot and choose your own car in the category you rented :) We are also going for 8 days jan 3rd to the 11th

I made a minivan reservation back in May for our 11 day (actually 12 days by rental car standards...pickup at 11:00 AM, and drop off at 5:00 PM) January trip. I booked at a rate of $478 (total). Little did I know that that price would be tripled at this point! I will continue to look for better deals, and the release of 2010 coupons, etc. but based on the prices I am seeing now, I am happy with what I got.

Our trip is for 8 days Jan.25-Feb 2. I rented with Advantage for a midsize and a total of $191. The reviews of Advantage are not good, but Hertz just purchased them, so I am hoping they improve things:confused3 I used the code ADVAN for a coupon. However, I am still checking all the time for a deal with a company that is in the terminal so we don't have to take the shuttle. Hope this helps!

We were sent an email from Delta to book out flight and car to save. Our flights from 1/23-1/31 were $291 per person for flihgt alone. For 3 people with a full size rental car for the entire trip was $1036. Just about $160 for the car for 9 days.

Yeah always get a cancelable backup before waiting for good rates. Sometimes the rates spike instead of drop before the date.
