We are planning a trip from Australia to WDW and want to make sure we choose the best time to go. We don't get to come often so we want to do it all whilst we're there. DH hates humidity but 2DS and 2DD really want to go to the waterparks. We'll probably spend a couple of days at waterparks but rest would be at theme parks. Our holidays fall in January or April. Which would be the best month to come?

I love April because it is so nice and warm but not too hot. However, April is also when almost all of the schools have spring break. I would not travel to Florida around Easter.

for weather i would pick april but for crowds its jan although from what i see on here its pick up in jan as well have fun what ever way u go :thumbsup2

Thanks. I think Easter is earlier in 2008, end of March. Does Spring Break always occur around Easter?

April is definitely one of the best months for nice weather. Temperatures are in the mid 80's with little to no humidity. It is one of the months with the lowest amount of rainfall. Crowds and prices are higher in April, however the last week of April is usually quieter because most schools have their spring breaks earlier. If you are looking forward to being able to swim and use the water parks, April is a much better month. January will more than likely be too cool for swimming. The Magic Kingdom is usually open later during most of April as well.

Definitely April...I think some of the water parks close in January for annual maintenance.

Thanks everyone. Looks like April is the month. It'll be the last two weeks so hopefully we can avoid the holiday goers from the UK. I can't wait! :yay:

I went in April (last week) and it was nice... not too crowded and the weather was nice. If you want to do the water parks, go in April for sure... have fun!!!!

I'm thinking about arriving the Sunday after Easter Sunday so most schools will be starting back that Monday. I only regret having to take kids out of school but DS will be celebrating his 5th bday then. Will the crowds die down that week since easter break will be over with>

April is by far the better weather time in Florida, how ever this is "Spring Break" time in the USA (school lets out for a week or two). The crowds are heavy so be prepared. We've stayed in Disney twice in April and the weather was perfect, sunny and 80's (farenheit). Enjoy

We were there from April 25 - May 6 of this year. It was perfect - not crowded and great weather. It was warm enough for swimming, water parks, etc. but still comfortable. I HATE humidity and though the temps were in the high 80's to low 90's, the humidity was low and it was completely tolerable. It does still get a bit chilly (67 - 72) at night if you are dressed in shorts from the heat of the day - nothing that a sweatshirt or jacket can't take care of. This past April, they ran a special on the "Water Parks and More" Upgrade (free), so look for it as it gets closer.

We definately want to go to the water parks so it would be fantastic if they offered it. Is it better to not buy this option then and wait or do they refund it if its offered?

That is exactly what I did - we wanted it either way, so we purchased it and then when the promos was offered, I just called and they made the adjustment. The end of April/begining of May is the best time to go! Last year at this time, I was in planning mode - not going again until September 2008 and I am lost with nothing to do in the evenings....I could clean out my closets, do laundry, etc. but this is much more fun. The planning and anticpation is almost as much fun as the trip! Book now to get what you need and then keep checking back to see if prices have come down or promotions are being run. Our rental car, ended up going down by 50% - just for the asking, because of coupon codes. Check Mousesavers for coupons on rental cars and others. Happy planning!

By the way, I just noticed that you were there on your honeymoon in November 1993 - us too!

I think for the best overall experience, I would do a January trip. This is a good time of year to go because the crowds are much less. April will be very crowded, and humid. Tell your kids that they will be able to ride a lot more rides in January than in April.

It is possible you may be able to do a water park in Jan, depending on the weather and how used to the cold you are. I would say making the parks your priority would be a better call for your whole family.
