January..Is it worth it to go

Is it worth it to go the 2nd week of January. Are the attractions still open, water parks open..has anyone ever doen the waterparks in january. We are planning to go and I don't want it to be a total flop if the weather sucks in January. TIA

I love to go in January! It's a walk-on on all the rides, and we've been really fortunate with the temps, usually high 60's, low 70's. One year when we went in late Jan, it was 86 every day. But, I know it is often cooler, too. You kind of have to pack for a variety of temps, including coats, gloves and hats in case you need them for evenings. My kids will swim in the high 60's, low 70's, but they are definitely very chilly when not in the pool. Only one water park will be open that time of year, and I'm sure it won't be crowded!

I love January at Kissimmee. Quiet, cool (can be warm but certainly not too hot/humid), low crowds, probably little to no rain (also there will be better weather in FL than at home )

If a cold front comes in, it can get chilly (but that can happen anytime - we have had it happen in November and had to buy warm hats/gloves for us all).

Only one Disney waterpark will be open (they close one at a time during the cooler months for 'refurb'). Wet N Wild and Aquatica will also probably be open. If a cold spell comes in, you will not want to go to a waterpark - trust me, but provided you are flexible, you will have a great time.

Depends. On what you like to do on vacation. Its value season and the crowds are somewhat light and its not hot. Perfect park weather. Weather can be in the 60's or even low 80's. And it usually varies from day to day that time of year. My kids love to swim. Although pools are heated its too cool in the evening to swim. And unless its in the 80s its too cold for water slides. Last year we did our first off site and stayed at WH in a townhouse with a pool. My kids loved the pool. January 09 will be our third trip during MLK week.

We have done early January several times this year checked in on New Years Day we prolly won't do that again we got in on the tail end of the peak holiday season but the following week would have been WONDERFUL my DD had to be back in school that week tho an being an athelete an a honor student taking weighted classes could not miss school.

We love that 2nd week of Jan most of the parks do close early so either get a park hopper an hop over to Epcot for evening or tour resorts or do downtown disney if you not ready to go back to room..

Jan and Feb both have varied temperatures. Sometimes you'll get a warm week and sometimes you'll get a few days of cooler temps. We've gone to waterparks in both months. We usually watch the long range weather forecast when we get there and plan a trip to a waterpark on the warmest day that has the least amount of wind. You have to be prepared to change your plans according to the weather.
We don't mind lower temps if we're just going to a regular park, actually enjoy going when it's not too hot.

OK it gets COLD in FL we went in mid-jan and I wore gloves-it was like low 50's-most of the waterparks are all closed til springbreak. January is a great time to come-especially mid-week like Tues-Thurs...Martin Luther King Jr. weekend was the most crowded we've seen it in years. Happy vacation!

The water parks in Orlando are open throughout Jan and Feb. Disney usually has one of theirs closed for refurbishment but the other one is open. You guys in Florida don't know what COLD is. It's not 50F, it's more like 20F. Although 50 is a might nippy to be at a water park.
