Hi there!

We are considering going to Disneyland on Jan 2nd for a week. I was just wondering if the holiday stuff would still be around and if the Haunted Mansion and Small World would still be showing the holiday show (if they still do that?!). Also, does Fantasmic and EP usually perform in early January?

Thanks alot!!!

We had APs and went Jan. 2nd last year just for the day and it was massively crowded. Worse than I have ever seen it during the summer. But all the holiday stuff was up. That was why we went. I see that this year they have blocked APs from going that day so it should be better crowd wise, hopefully. I haven't checked the website but before they always took the holiday stuff down the first Monday after New Years. So you would have the 2nd and 3rd to see it. Then they would close HMH and IASW probably on that Monday to take down the stuff. It also should be very nice in the parks after the holidays are over since everyone has to go back to school.

We had our first trip this year in Jan, the 3rd-8th actually. This year the last day of the holiday season was the 4th, they started taking stuff down on the 5th and by the 8th all the decorations were gone, rides were closed and it was just January in DL. I don't recall crowds being horrible that weekend (3rd/4th) but it was busier over the weekend then during the week.

The last day of the holiday season is January 3rd. I would think that on the 4th Small World and Haunted Mansion will close and the holiday stuff will start coming down or already be done over night.

DEP will not be showing and F! is questionable on the weekends...depends on when they start draining the river this January. IASWH has stayed opened well into January in the past, so you may catch it.

It's not an overnight change. Not at all. The first night they take down the tree on Main Street and some other decorations, but the tree is the big thing, the rest come down over the next 2 days or so.

I wouldn't think it would all be down the first night, I know it takes sometime, what I meant is that they would start taking it down the items starting the last night of the season. :)

The very best fireworks show we saw was last January 4th, the sunday night and the last day of the full Christmas season....it was as if everyone had to be back to school and work so by the afternoon the crowds were leaving and we walked into a perfect awesome spot to watch everything about 3/4 of the way down mainstreet from the castle....there was plenty of room all around us and it was such a magical moment for hubby and me!! we will be doing the same thing again this year!...the last day this year will be the sunday jan. 3.... the next day, monday, there was still lot's of Christmas stuff up, but a lot of it was gone... and the park was empty!! walk on for all the rides except of course for the Haunted mansion and Its a Small World being closed for the change back to normal.... Also that sunday night, after the fireworks and snow on mainstreet and there were so very few people in the park, and most of them seemed to be heading for the exits.... we rode Haunted Mansion and IASW with no wait.... It was an awesome night and we are really looking forward to that one day and night especially! sooooo the satrurday for you will probably be a bit busy, it was for us last year, but the sunday should be a good day and sunday night should be awesome! but shhhhhh don't tell anyone or it will be crowded!! lol..
here you go.... a couple of pics from the sunday.... excuse hubby's mug...he needed a beard trim something awful! lol.... other is dear daughter and her fiance, you can see from the background the park was extremely UNcrowded! pic times were 9:15 am by the tree, and 1pm ish at the castle...
