January Help - NEW YEARS EVE

I would appreciate any feedback on when to add on to our planned trip. We are going to WDW January 2 through 10. We want to stay two extra nights and DH and I can't agree on whether to go the 31st or stay two extra days at the end. I know it is packed on New Years Eve, but that way the kids wouldn't have to miss school. Any thoughts?

I would do it at the end. The first few days of January tend to be very crowded, then it clears out (with the exception of the marathon weekend and MLK weekend).

We always go in Jan and find that the first week after the new year is not very busy. I would add at the end, you will get more done in the parks then before. This Jan we went during the last week and still found the park very easy to get around. Most rides were 20-30 min waits, only long line was TSM at DHS (90 min) if you are going there make sure to get that done first.

But are there any New Year's Eve/Day stuff that you don't want to miss?

My sister and I went one year on New Years Eve and loved it. But, we were in college. With two young ones I would definitely suggest adding to your trip at the end. New Years Eve and Day the park can be so crowded you can't move, and that was EPCOT. My parents will never go back and I would hate to be trying to locate two young ones in those crowds! It's a great experience but I'd wait until they're older.

I would add at the end as well. As PP stated, you can't move in the parks on NYE. Once you are in a park, you are there to stay, and moving around is very difficult. I went to DHS one year and by mid afternoon it was like a cattle call.
