Sailed beginning of January this year (2025) to Castaway and Nassau and it was very windy and chilly. Did we experience a cold snap or it is always windy and chilly in January? Our sea day was upper 60's with crazy wind making it feel even colder. Castaway was sweatshirts and jeans kind of weather-super windy. Cast Members handing out blankets on the pool deck. So was this a fluke or typical?

That sounds colder than usual for the Bahamas. My family has done 7 cruises in January and February, and only twice has it been too uncomfortable to swim at Castaway Cay. One of those times it was cold and rainy in the morning but dried out and warmed up by afternoon.

Port Canaveral, on the other hand, is frequently that cold in January. Several times we have bought sweatshirts or jackets at Walt Disney World after the cruise because we forgot how cold it could be.

We were there the beginning of Jan too this year and the entire half of the US was having a cold snap (NC got snow) but the water at Castaway is always chilly in Jan

Google says the normal range of temperatures in the Bahamas in January is 74 to 79 degrees. It is the coldest month of the year. So sounds like you hit a patch of cooler than normal weather. We sailed out of Miami during a "Florida Freeze" and it was in the 70's by the time we got to the Bahamas.

Same at castaway early December. So windy we almost didn’t port. Cast members were handing out blankets at satellite falls - that was a first for us.

probably got a cold front, but January tends to be a lot chillier in The bahamas than other months. Last time I went in January the water was beyond freezing.

We've been at Castaway in January and it was very warm.....and.....we've been on Castaway in March and it was breezy and chilly like you described. I think every day can bring its own weather adventure. In the words of Scar, "Be prepared!"
