Has anyone heard any buzz yet on AP discounts for late January?

I have already put off booking a room to long, and now our trip just got bumped up to January!

Should I go ahead and book without the discount and call back when one becomes available. I've heard this can be a pain to do.

We are planing to stay at the All Stars again.

I don't know how much of a pain it is to do but I can tell you what the Cm at Cro said this morning when I called to add a day to our FW ressie..I told her I was considering getting an AP but I wanted to wait until I saw if there were Ap rates for our Jan6-15 stay . she laughed and said "oh there will be Ap rates. they should come out in DEc., let me figure up what it would be for you just as an example" and quoted me 61.?? off our fee and tried to sell me one then and there.I said can I just tell them when I check in and get the Ap rate if I decide to get one and she said yes. from this I am guessing 2 things..one) she knows there are going to be rates released by my stay and 2) has at least a general idea how much they will be. I had my tickets all planned out, now my husband is rethinking and considering a trip in Dec of 2004 so may end up geting them anyway, who knows!

I would book as early as possible due to the fact that the hotel may fill up even for a January trip. I was told by CRO today that AP rates for Jan. 04 may not be out until Nov. however ,I am calling them every few days just to check. I would not advise waiting until check-in to ask for the AP rate because there are only a certain amount of these given to each resort. Good Luck.

I gave up waiting for room only discounts from Disney. I emailed my travel agent last night to find out if All Stars had any AAA discounts available for my time of travel. We have 2 rooms for 7 nights and ended up saving a total of almost $250.00 with the AAA discount. I was very surprised to find out that discount was still available.

It was well worth joining AAA for the room rate alone.

are you positive about not being able to get the rate at check in? when I point blank asked that questions to the cm I spoke with she said yes you can just tell them at check in. she seemed to know what was up.

I have never gotten an AP (bummer!) but have made many ressies for my sister who gets one. I remember the first time she got one, I was calling to try and get her the AP rate for a FW cabin. They had offered the AP rates during the time she would be there. Each and every time I called, I was told that they only have a certain number of rooms at each hotel offered at the AP discounted rate. Once they are booked, that is it, unless someone cancels. I called and called and called.....with a week of her arrival, there was 1 cancellation and I was able to grab it for her. :earsboy:

I have no idea why this CM told you to inform them when you check in to get the rate...unless they are changing the AP rate policy??? I would hate for you to think you are getting a better deal, only to check in and find out that you're not!! :scared:

YES!
I booked MONTHS ago for January at full rack rate.
I changed the ressies a few months ago to include the AAA rate.
If AP rates come out, I will renew our AP's and change the discount to the AP rate.
Luckily our AP's do not expire until mid-January when we arrive.
I have CSR booked for 4 nights (standard room). And even with AAA the rate is too high for a moderate off season.
And actually it never has been a pain for me to do. And now I leave it up to DU! ;)

Me neither since I called this morning and guess what, no deal! I posted about this on the camping forum but I got a real crab this morning ( picture yourself as a second grader sent to the principle's office and that's how I felt!) who said she could not (or would not was more like it ,smack on the knuckles with a ruler) add anything to my ressie about an Ap discount since they were not out, may not be out and who was the name of the CM who you dealt with that made you think they might ever come out in your lifetime!!.( "go sit in the corner right this instant for even asking young lady!') YIKES who gave her nasty juice for breakfast! so I guess I will start the calling game soon as they come out and hope for the best. she did also admit you do not actually have to have the pass in your hot little hand till you check in to get the rate as long as you have it by check in.

AP rates for1/2202 came out in Nov 2001. AP rates for 2003 came out in October,2002. You may be able to get an aP discount at ceck in IF IT IS STILL AVAILABLE. Chances are it won't be. After 6 yrs of doing AP rates one thing I know...We(the Dis) know more then CRO:teeth: . Don't believe what the CM told you.

do you happen to know if they release new dates before the present ones expire? I remember some posting they did not have Sept rates this year and the rates now go till Dec 26 (I think) so is it possible/ probable they will not release them till after then? The CM yesterday acted like she was sure they would be out in Dec..she did not say may she said they would so I am wondering if they will or she was just guessing although she did not sound like it.

as far as anyone knows( I believe mousesavers said this is true also) is it right that you do not have to have the pass till check in..can you get the rates without it then have it by check in or do you need to give them a number or something before they will reserve it at AP rate.

Thanks

You don't need the ACTIVATED AP til you check in. Don't take the voucher with you to the hotel...it will not be honored. :bounce:

hmm next question where do you get it activated? I was figuring guest services at the hotel but i guess not!

You can activate it at any park gate. There is also somewhere you can do it in Down Town Disney. (I think it's a guest service counter)
Don't quote me on in but I believe I've also heard of people checking in with the voucher (perhaps having thier rate changed... not sure) then that evening when they get back from the park with an activated AP and go to check-in to have the rate changed back.
