January 8, 2011 - 7 Night Western Caribbean Sailing

A lurker is someone who reads what we post here but doesn't add to any of it. To me, it's like having someone peep through your windows or eavesdrop on your conversation. Fine enough BUT then when we all get together at a meet onboard, they come up to you and seem to know way TMI about you. Kind of creepy, don't you think?

I don't mind if it's someone I've been exchanging chat with, but someone who just watches is kind of, well, creepy, lol!

Lurkers irk me too. When we got married there were people who would come up and talk to me and tell me all about how they read my Pre Trip Report and knew all about us and congratulations, WHY not just post a simple "HI" on the board then! LOL

I can only guess that this must be what movie stars feel like!

Ok I admit it I just used that title to get attention...but PEOPLE ..we need some folks to join this thread....unless we really just have the ship to ourselves??

Some things we did last year...
A ladies tea....I thought it was really fun..anyone ( what is there 3 of us?) interested?

Group Brunch?

Cocktail hour?..who has the largest or plans on upgrading to a large stateroom?..anyone getting the Roy?..

:confused3

Lol, I thought that it moved to FB! J/k, Personally I like the idea of a party in the Roy, if anyone in our group has it booked I'm sure they'd wanna open the doors for us all! Now that would be a good place for a little cocktail party!

I must admit the thought of an empty ship excites me! I am very excited for this cruise!!! We are in a Cat 11 ... Deffinatly NOT the largest room. BUT if we get an upgrade to the Roy or Walt you guys will be the 1st to know. LOL

It's probably all my fault, scaring off the lurkers. Now they won't talk to us at all.

But it does seem to be a fairly empty cruise DIS-wise. Maybe the rumors I've been hearing about people planning to cruise in January waiting to take the Dream later in the month is true.

The tea last time was wonderful! There were 8 or 9 of us and they did up a large round table in the center of the place, which I take they don't normally do. Definitely must try to do that again this year.

Did not set up a FB page as yet. Waiting to see if it's needed as we get closer.

But I am getting more excited as every calendar page brings a new month. Soon, soon, soon we'll be cruising!

Don't look to us for the Roy, don't have that kind of spare change. And we really LOVE our 11s -- sleep like babies!

Fridays tend to be Family movie night in our house, theres no point buying all these DVDs if we dont take time to enjoy them with each other! Last night we finally got around to watching Shorts, it was pretty good.

Hi everyone!

Hope you're enjoying your long weekend (if you have one where you are). For those of you who have done this cruise in Jan before, what's the temperature like? I can't help but wonder, since here in Ontario Canada we've already got temperatures feeling like 38C/100.4F for the next several days! :beach:

Also, does anyone know if the pools on the ship are salt water pools?

Thanks! :cool1:

Last time I cruised in january it was low to mid 80's during the day and around 70 at night.

The Pools are fresh water/Salt water pools.

I am poking my head in here because I am booking this cruise on June 8, the earliest I can book through DVC. Hope we definitely get on the ship! It would be me (33), DH (33), DD(5), and DS(4) (at sailing).

Our last Disney Cruise was our HM in 2002. We were hooked and have wanted to return ever since. We think this is a good age for the kids to do their first cruise!

We're looking forward to having you join us!

One question -- why is this the earliest you can book through DVC? We're also DVC members and booked it up in January.

I was under the impression you can only book your home resort 11 months out? And 7 months for the others?

Call DVC reservations and check -- as I said, we booked in January for next January, through DVC, and there was no problem. I understood that we could book as far in advance as necessary, just provided that the points we are using were 'usable' during the time period of the cruise.

I would worry if you waited too long, you'd miss the category/cabin you want.

Good luck and let us know what happens!

LOL Miss the cabin?...Laura..this ship is going to be empty remember??..just you, me and a few of our friends...

Welcome aboard to the new folks!

Welcome LydiaAch!:grouphug: Good to have you going us! I booked this cruise for myself and my parents... we're all first time cruisers :)
