January 8, 2006- 4 night Wonder- Anybody else coming with?

I've already emailed my TA to see if I can get downgraded to a cat 11. I can't believe I'm even saying that. OH well. I just don't have patience to wait for an elevator and its just too much to walk up & down to deck 1.

I'm also traveling with 2 kids and the walkie talkies don't do well that far down so it will be hard to keep track of them. I know, b...tch, b...tch, b..tch.

I should be thankful to the upgrade fairy

Thanks TNTcruise for letting us know you got your upgrade...that means our cruise upgrade fairies should be waving their magic wands for all you guarantee cabin people. GOOD LUCK!!!

Ohhhh.....DH and leave for Florida in 30 days. Now I'm starting to freak out :Pinkbounc :bounce: I've got to start putting things in piles for the suit cases. I'm really feeling overwhelmed at the moment. :earseek:

I don't know about you guys, but ever since they have reduced the allowed weight of check in luggage, it has been so stressful. I swear this time if we're over the 50lb weight we will pay the additional $$$$. I hate having to open and remove items from the luggage at the ticket counter. And I also hate not having enough clothes or shoes. ( I'm a little on the high maintenance side)

Question.....How much luggage is too much??????

Ummmmm, if you'll check my tag, you will find out how much luggage is too much ;)

Generally anything we have to check is too much. We tend to travel with carryon luggage only.

The last luggage I remember checking was back in about 1997 when we went to Holland for 3 weeks :teeth:

I'm kinded of worried about packing too b/c of the temp variations possible in FL in January, the parks followed by the cruise, and b/c of my firm belief in dressing decently for dinner on the cruise. I am bound and determined that THIS time I will not overpack. I won't I won't!! I hope ;) I've gone ahead and budgeted for cleaning service during the cruise to avoid having to use my time doing laundry and waiting for the iron.

DH tends to be the biggest problem. I can't convince him to let go of his undershirts for ANYTHING, so it's an undershirt for everyday, 2 pairs of socks for everyday, yadda yadda. He even gets hinky wearing a pair of jeans more then once. Weirdo....

Now you know what I love about taking a cruise in January? I can pull out my white capris with aplomb and not be ashamed. :)) They are frankly my best fitting pair, and I hate only being able to wear them part of the year ;)

branv ~~ your husband wears undershirts in Texas :earseek:

Heck we live in Canada and nobody in this house wears undershirts at all, except my son under his paramedic uniform shirts.

I called the POP Century tonight and added an extra night onto the beginning of our vacation. We are planning on arriving on the 4th now.

I also added a couple more people to my reservation. :teeth: Both of our kids are coming down to Florida with us for the "land" portion of our vacation. Then we will drop them at the airport on the way to the terminal and they will fly home in order to be back for college classes on the Monday morning.

I'm glad they are coming along. It will be nice to go as a family.

Cruisin.....Wow! only traveling with carry-on luggage. I could not do it if my life depended on it.

Branv...I'm also with you regarding the variation in temps. in Florida. I'm going to try and layer. Yeah, for white capris. I'm so ready to wear my summer clothes again. I sick of winter clothes already.

I'm going to try and start putting somethings out and really try to limit my amount of clothing to pack. But I really like having options especially since I can not figure out what I'll be in the mood to wear a month from now.

The one good thing about not moving yet, is that I still have all my summer clothes out. Unfortunately, I have no winter clothes and I've been freezing! DH has 2 sweatshirts he left out and we've been sharing those. Plus I have a pair of jeans and a pair of black pants. I did buy a new sweater, but don't want to spend too much right now...too many trips to pay for instead :) I am looking forward to wearing my capris - more clothing options!!!

I could never manage to go away with just a carryon. Even when I pack for a weekend I manage to fill a small duffle with clothes and another bag for shoes and make-up, etc. I used to be the Queen of Overpacking, but with a little intervention and a 12 step program, I have overcome this. Our last trip I wore everything once. I think I had one extra long sleeve shirt and pair of socks that I didn't need. Lately my DH who used to think he only needed 2 pairs of shorts and 3 t-shirts for a week-long trip, has been the overpacker. He has even packed more than me on a couple of occassions. He's actually worse when he is traveling without me. And, yes, he too has to wear an undershirt all the time. I don't understand why.

Crusin - glad to hear your kids are coming with you for part of the trip! I know you all will have a blast together. I am also glad to hear you were able to add another night onto your stay at POP. Hopefully that means it won't be too crowded!

Congratz Crusin on adding your kids. :) The more the merrier I say.

I finally had my AMA agent get back to me. She said "ypu're a hard person to get ahold of I just can't get through! The phone rings and rings" ... yeah right  I gave her my email address. Anyways. I found out what I needed to know. DCL was very helpful. If we ever use AMA again I'm going to make sure we don't get her.
We won't be getting our package until the week before xmas. :earseek: Not panicing not panicing, It's just a little close nothing will go wrong. Deep Breathes :rotfl:

Well here's the gross 411 on why someone in TX would wear an undershirt....it's a sweat barrier before it gets to the main shirt :scared:

Now DH is even funnier with it. I think he's suspicious deep down that if he shows too much collar cleavage, people will think he's the type of guy who should be wearing a big gold medallion ;) I keep trying to tell him it's about moderation in all things, but he's...and I'll say it again...weird.

Now the funniest thing I ever saw was at a SERIOUSLY redneck wedding (I'd tell you the whole story but it's long and it might make you lose bladder control) when the groom was wearing this realllly thin white shirt, but no undershirt, so you could clearly see his err..mammarian parts. Any hope I'd have of divesting DH of an undershirt was completely thrown out the window at that point.

Though to be fair, he didn't get why I was horrified that I unthinkingly walked out of the house with a brown purse when I had on black boots the other day, so we each have our own fashion thing. :teeth:

Have you ever had one of those days where you accomplished NOTHING? I swear, I had all these goals today....and I wasn't able to get anything done. This winter weather makes me move like a sloath. :rotfl:

We're off to get a tree tonight....yeah.

Days :confused3

Heck, I have whole MONTHS like that :rotfl2:

Any cabin assignments yet?

I'm afraid to look. :scared:

No, of course no rooms. And those darn 1/5 and 1/7 people are just rubbing it in our faces, aren't they? :rotfl:

Can you believe it, we're actually getting sleet. It's 28 degrees. In AUSTIN..I mean, we're like 10 hours from the Mexico border people! Sure, mebbe some in January or February, but last week we were in the 80's! Sheesh!

AttaG - lemme tell you. The most I accomplished today was eating my weight in Peanut Butter M&M's. Apparently putting things into a really cute Christmas candy dish makes them way too accessible.

Ohhhh Peanut Butter M&Ms are soooo gooooood!

In the past when we have had people over during the holidays, the wives all remark on the candy dishes strewn about filled with different types of goodies and how they could never resist having that around. The truth is I don't put it out until 2 minutes before they walk in the door or there would be nothing to share. It is impossible to resist when they are just a handful away! As soon as everyone is gone, I put it away. I am weak to the temptation.

It's 6:55 am and my 4 yr old just walked in announcing that she wanted to go to Disney and ride all her favorite rides. Sure, honey, let me finish this post and we'll go :rotfl: Though, wouldn't it be nice if one could do that?!?! Just pop into the world anytime you get the urge for a few hours. Heaven!

Lots of talk around here about leaving for Disney every day too ;)

We leave in 26 days but my husand insists on saying........ oh vacation's a long ways away, it's almos a month still :sad2:

I'm thinking, wow, it will be here before we know it and gone again

I guess he think's it so far away because he doesn't have all the work of getting things organized and packed and ready to go

It's there, it's there...I just checked online and I have our room number...5142!! No upgrades, but I'm just happy to know where we're gonna be! :teeth: :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :earboy2:

:cheer2: That is a HUGE upgrade if you are in 5142 ::yes::

5142 is a cat 6 stateroom with a verandah :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

A solid white wall verandah, whatever that means.

Lucky, lucky you.

Ours is there too. :goodvibes

We got upgraded to a Cat 11, rooms 6011 and 6015.

These are sideways rooms. I wonder what they will be like :confused3

I'm jealous of your upgrade UGAFan but I'm happy for you ::yes:: :teeth:

Anybody else got any news to share?
