January 30, 2011 Wonder Mexican Riviera ANYONE OUT THERE????

:jumping1: So excited! We bought our airline tickets today. Non-stop flights from DC to LA and back!

:thumbsup2 Doesn't it feel good to complete this step? It always makes me feel like we're past the point of no return. Too many hassles and fees associated with canceling airfare, so when it's purchased there is really, really, really, really no chance of changing our minds!

Yes, it does feel good! I guess if we changed our mind on the cruise we could always go to DLR for a week instead!! :)

:cool1: This will be our fourth cruise!! :cool1:

We would LOVE to do the fish extender exchange with you guys- we did it on our last cruise and it was sooo much fun!

AHHHHHH!!!:woohoo: We cant wait!!

Does anyone have a limo/town car company they would recommend in LA? I got a few quotes on limos.com, but price-wise there all about the same. Does anyone have personal experience with any of them?

We used Zippy Shuttles on our last LA trip and were very satisfied with them. Don't know if you were specifically looking for a limo -- they have 15-passenger vans. We'll be using them again on our upcoming trip.

WELCOME to rhinosbiggestfan!

Thanks for the info. I'm actually looking for a town car, because after the long flight, I just want to get to the hotel. Plus, the town cars will make "extra" stops for you. I'm planning a detour to the liquor store. ;)

I have a 13 year old daughter (turning 14 on the cruise) that would love to get to know a friend prior to cruising. If you are interested in getting to know a new friend prior to cruising just send me a PM.

Has anyone looked at the day trips in Mexico? I saw a lot of choices. I looked at the thread for the group going the week before us for some ideas and some of them were booking horse rides on the beach in Mazatlan with Randy's horses and some other things. Anyone heard what some good things to do are? I know the water won't be that warm in January so I know snorkeling will be out for us.

We are looking to do a whale watching excursion and a zip lining one in 2 of the ports as top candidates. Looked like Disney whale watching one was short enough in time that I was wondering if we could 2 shore excursions that day in port too. We've not finalized our choices for top 2 picks in each port, but I also have one under 12 so that eliminates a set of the ones that Disney has on their web site due to minimum age requirement.

I think some people are booking outside of Disney and from what I've read on these boards, appears it can be cheaper to go that route. I'm inclined to just book my choices through Disney for convenience/conservatism. Also, if there was a delay, the ship would be held for anyone on the ones booked through Disney too.

Besides booking port excursions, still need to finalize our hotel stay before cruise as we plan to visit Disneyland and also arrange for some form of ground transportation so I think I better get moving.

Just got the email from DCL showing our port adventures!! I''m so excited!!

Stinkerbe11: Thanks for organizing the FE! Our cabin will have 2 adults Hubby & Me. Mar@DL will have 2 adults & I'm not sure if the 2 kids (15 & 13) will be in the room with her or the grandparents - but they will be participating too.

Can't wait for January!!

We purchased our planes tickets last week. We are flying into/out of Orange County. We got RT from our small, regional airport (about 6 miles from our house) using miles & a voucher DH had from a previous trip and only paid $100 total for the 4 of us! We also decided to splurge and stay at the GCV in a studio room with our DVC points pre-cruise. I love having DVC, because I never would have stayed here otherwise but am very excited about it now!! :cool1:

I haven't been very motivated about finding excursions. I just can't decide if I want to bother with getting off the ship or not! :rotfl:

Is anyone looking at doing shore excursions on there own? We are interested in doing one of the dolphin excursions, but going on your own is less than half the price of going through Disney. Can anyone reccomend a good outfit to book through? Unfortunately we are not using a TA, and given how quikly the KSF offer went, I'm not willing to risk switching now.

We are planning to use the excursuions that Disney is offering. Our kids like the Resort pool getaway so much in Cabo that we are going to do that one again. We went on the resort's website (Finistrra Hotel) to see if we could save money by just booking a room ourselves. Well, Jan. is high season so, $225 a night for a room. Had it been Summer we could have saved some $$.

As far as the dolphin excursions, try one the other MR boards. No one seems to know much about it here.

Good luck!

Someone going a different week than we are checked with the dolphin swim business in Cabo and said that Disney had bought out all of the times when the Disney cruise ship would be there for their cruise so I don't know if you will have any luck finding anything outside of the Disney ship at Cabo.

Well, I guess that answers that! :) I haven't decided if we want to do the dolphin swim in Cabo or Puerto Vallarta. I think Cabo was longer time with the dolphins and included lunch.

Update: Sorry, got those confused. It's the one in Puerto Vallarta that includes lunch.

How many people are in our fish extenders group? I wanted to start getting an idea so I can plan what I will bring. Is anyone else waiting to tell their kids about the cruise? I am trying to wait until Christmas if I can, but time will tell.

We plan to tell our girls, DD Erin 8 and DD Brenna 11, on Christmas day. That gives them 5 weeks to plan and think of all the things they went to do. We think a big part of going on a Disney Cruise is looking forward to it.

Has someone started a FE list? count us in!

18 weeks to go! Yippie!

I will post the updated FE list this week pirate: I am having a great time shopping and hope you all are too!
