January 30, 2005 Anyone?

40 days!!! :cool1: holy cow! I have been watching the weather in FLA brrrrr
hope it is gone by the end of January. It is suppose to snow Wednesday and Thursday here in Denver. Hope we don't get alot, as my folks are coming from Albuquerque, and I don't like to think of them driving in the snow. Am working the next 3 days, and with the snow coming in we maybe busy. (I work labor and delivery and when the barometer drops here in Colorado watch out) Kathy

yes it's been cold here in orlando but tonite not so bad. Actually felt uncomfortable in my winter coat. We have these days in dec and jan where the temp goes into the 30's at night.Hopefully it will be nice whenit's time to cruise.

If you go to www.ask.com, and type in a question like, "What is the weather like in Cap Canveral in February?" or substitute Nassau into that question, it will bring up the averages, etc. etc. etc.

It looks pretty good for both places with the average high in Nasau at 77 degrees in February (if I remember right), and in the 60s in Orlando.

Now...we just have to cross our fingers that they don't have a "cold snap." After our Sept. cruise was canceled due to hurricane number four , I wouldn't be surprised if the "ice storm of the century" hits that weekend!

I've been reading the cruise forum for months, but just joined the boards today and decided to see if anyone was on the January 30th cruise. My family of four DH-38, myself-33, DD-6, and DD-2 are taking our first cruise. I'm addicted to reading all the tips and threads I can. I've got my Passporter book highlighted and notes written everywhere. I can't wait! Hopefully I'll remember to relax :D

Welcome blt and k, I am also addicted to reading the boards and finding out what we can prior to our big adventure. Hope everyones Chritmas is what they wish for. I am off to make the last of the cookies. I know my kids will be sad if we don't have that and eggnog and fudge Christmas day. My parents are on their way so I'd better take the last swipe at the bathrooms and run the vaccum. Merry Christmas to all. Kathy

Can't wait to meet everyone! Sounds like all us first-timers are doing the same thing!

Reading all we can! (And, YOU KNOW we're going to forget half of it when we actually see the ship and all her splendor!!!)

(Still hoping for a Pirate's Night!!!)

looking out the window at the constant rain and cold for the last few days, I cannot wait to get back on the ship.
Now I need to start my countdown list so we don't forget anything. If anyone has any medical issues, there is a form that we fill out to fax to the ships doctor so they are informed of any illness etc.

Hey, I don't need to fill out that doctor's form, but I just wanted to post a "Thank You!" for posting that little note.

I've read a lot of stuff, but having never cruised before, I didn't know about such a form. Actually, it's a great idea!

Thanks for sharing it with us! Got any other tips we should know about before we head on board?

...Can you believe it's actually almost JANUARY ????

hey the counter says 34 days!!!!
A suggestion to all the parents. My dd and I were told emphatically from the kids that there was no way they were going to the clubs. Especially dgd who is 7. Well my daughter took them all to the clubs the first night which by the way was really rough due to the hurricane. And i'm happy to say ,she finally got a child free vacation. And they kept them til 1am. (the club actually puts down mats at night and the kids watch movies on the large wall tv and most of them nod off. Kind of a sleepover.)
Don't try to do everything. It can't be done. Choose what you want to do and be flexible .
My dh and I didn't get to go to Nassau and if we did probably he wouldn't have gotten off the ship.
This time he is bringing his scooter so he can appease me and go into town.
We missed hercules and will see that and can say we both loved the other 2 shows.
I am putting out the good vibes for the pirate show.
But the most important thing is to have fun!!!!!

I am not too worried about the dgks going to the clubs. I think they will go some but being the "grandparents" my dh and I are into the "kid " time. different out look when you are the grandparents. Dh and I will probably get the kids off the ship at Nausssau but not stay but just so they can say they were there. Plan on enjoying the ship with alot of the passengers gone.See you all very soon Kathy

I was keeping my fingers crossed for this - Did you notice if they let the younger (4 yo) children nap?

We are waitlisted for early dinner seating, but are resigned not to get it. The plan at the moment is to take them for a snack/roomservice for "dinner" around 5-6, then see the early show together, then drop them off at the club. DH and I will then (hopefully) enjoy a quiet dinner alone!! and maybe even enjoy some of the adult entertainment offerings until 11 or so!

Yay! We're almost under 30 days!
Happy new year everyone!

That last post brings up an interesting question. I hope one of you seasoned cruisers can answer it.

I know the dinner and show is supposed to work like this: early show/late dinner & late show/early dinner, but what about those people that don't eat in the dining rotation?

Let's say--you are "assigned" early dinner and late show, but you opt to go to the early show instead and catch dinner in your room after the show....how does Disney ensure that all of us on the dining rotation get in to see the show?

I mean--are there empty seats in these shows, and that brings me to a 2nd question--how important is a "good" seat in these theaters? Do we need to gobble our food and get to the theater to get an up-front seat or are the ones in the middle and back just as good?

there are those that say to get there early but we sat all over on our cruise. For the golden mickeys there is a lot going on on the crossaisle as some of the performers are in the audience. We sat at the very back for Dreams, and didn't have any trouble seeing.Just bring a sweater or jacket as it's a bit chilly in there. They also have a snack stand outside but many bring their own snacks with them. They won't let you bring in food like hot dogs etc. Just regular snacks. The back worked out well for bathroom breaks and getting out ahead of the rush.

Okay, thanks! That works out well then! I won't be stressing out over dinner trying to get us anywhere or vice versa.

We have late dining but with an 8 and 5 year old, I am hoping we can do the dinner shuffle once on board!

:)

See everyone soon! YIPPEE!!

Have a question... Anyone seen anything recently about pillow cases? Looks like they are still doing it on the Magic but the search turned nothing up on the Wonder? Any one else heard anything? Happy New Year! Kathy

I haven't heard anything negative about the pillowcases, so I'm "assuming" they still do them.

We are bringing a mat from a multi-opening picture frame. There used to be another thread about this idea too. You take the white mat from one of those picture frames with a lot of different openings, and you drop it off at cust. svc. Apparently, they get all the characters to sign it, and you pick it up later.

Don't know if they still do it, but I'm going to try it anyway! ;)

wow i just found you today , please count us in . my2 dds ages 7 and 12 and myself will be on this cruise it is our fourth cruise but first one without dh and ds. so i am a little nervous about it.we booked late and ended up with late seating for dinner but did manage to get a sph room. i look forward to meeting you all on board. tomi :wave2:

So glad you found us! :)

So, now that we're ACTUALLY into January--we need to get serious about a meeting place/time (if everyone still wants to attempt it)!!!

Deb

Glad you joined us..

I spent the day throwing out leftovers (and some tempting goodies I DON'T need to have hanging around!) and putting up Christmas decorations for another year... now to get down to some serious trip planning!
:thewave:

What are everyone's travel plans? Flying, driving, family stopovers? Who is traveling the farthest? Any unique or interesting stops along the way? :moped:

We are driving, leaving NO later than 5 am on Sat. It's usually an 8-hr drive for us; we should arrive in Orlando around 2-3 pm. So, really not a bad drive, just v. boring on I-10 stretch.

We're spending Sat night at Pop Century, then on to Port early on Sun. "After-cruise", we are hanging around until Sun, staying at Port Orleans Riverside.

Hi all and happy new year. We (dh,dgs, dgd) are flying from Denver on the 26th. Go to the Poly the 27th and then on to "the boat" the 30th. Only 3 days on land, but the kids won't know what they didn't get to see. dgd has been to disney land but dgs has not. Still up for a meet, so we can put faces to the names. only 23 more days for Us. Kathy
