What on earth is going on in January? I'm looking to book a hotel for the 24-26th and everything is not available or waaay overpriced! For example, Anaheim Plaza Hotel is coming up at $113 a night instead of the usual $59??? Tia for any and all help!

The only thing I could think of was Martin Luther King day, but that is Monday the 21st (the previous weekend).

The NAMM Show will bring in 95,000 people to the convention center ansd surrounding areas from January 24-27.

We have been to DL when the NAMM show was also on MLK weekend and found it did not impact the park to any great extent. The one exception is that the Aladdin show may be closed if they hold a special concert in that theater. -- Suzanne

It's the luck of the draw, I guess.

I'm on Hotels.com and noticed that the daily rate changes on one specific date, depending on what block of dates I choose. For example, a stay at the Fairfield Anaheim:

Itinerary 1:
4-night stay, 24-27 January:
Each night is $169/night.

Itinerary 2:
4-night stay, 26-29 January: (26 and 27 overlap first itinerary)
Each night is $149/night.

Itinerary 3:
4-night stay, 27-30 January: (27 overlaps 1st and 2nd itinerary, 28 and 29 overlap the 2nd itinerary)
Each night is $129/night.

You can see that the price of 27 January changes, depending on what block of dates you select. It went as high as $169, to a low of $129.

Curiouser and curiouser... :confused3

Grr! Haha thanks! We will definitely be in park on the 24th, DHs work is having a special event at the park, it's supposed to be open to only their employees from 830pm-1am. No way am I missing that! Guess we will have to see if it's better to stay Thursday to Saturday or Wednesday to Friday.

It's NAMM. Most hotels hold huge blocks of rooms. Go to the NAMM website and find out what the deadline on hotel reservations. The hotels release the NAMM rooms shortly afterward. They won't be cheap, but there will be availability.

November 14 is the dead line. As a member you could get the Disneyland hotel for $169 a night. Ouch that hurts.

Last year, right after the deadline, Expedia had DLR hotels on sale and I booked PPH for $79/night during the NAMM dates! It didn't last long and the prices shot up sky-high later on. Since I love to go to DLR for my birthday and it almost always falls within the NAMM dates, I know how irksome it is to find the hotels booked and/or priced way above the usual. Try checking, as a PP mentioned, right after the deadline and if you find a good rate, reserve it!

ok, we've gone to disney every MLK week for the last four years.

I am also accustomed to paying 59$ at the anaheim plaza.

So imagine my surprise this time last year, when I went to book the Anaheim Plaza, the price was like $125/night!!! Anaheim Plaza insisted it was not a typo and it was due to this conference. Wanting to book something, I did a "getaway today" package with the HOJO, for a somewhat decent price. I was enticed by the pool, and I thought why not give it a try?

Fast forward to December. I checked the Anaheim Plaza price on a whim (knowing I was locking into the HOJO thing, I still torture myself) and the price was back down to 59$.

And it ended up being way to cold to take advantage of the pool at HOJO anyway!

I might go to Disney in 2013 but I will wait a bit to book accom.
