January 2025 Check In Thread!

Nothing from my airline that I’ve seen, and I’m scheduled to fly in on Monday to LAX and then drive to Anaheim. So, I guess I’m proceeding as originally planned. Lol. Can those who are at the parks/in Anaheim this weekend keep us posted on what air quality is like? I know it’s not that close to the current fires, but I also have zero experience with wildfires. And is there anything we can be doing as tourists/non-locals to help (aside from staying out of the way)?

Just found out I'll be there solo for two full days with park hoppers on 1/26 and 1/27 at the end of my work trip (the BEST way to end a work trip!). Plus, it looks like for the first time I'll be able to visit in the afternoon until close with a park hopper on 1/20 at the start of my trip before work begins the next day, which has never happened before.

I'm hoping I can get on Small World that night of 1/20 before it closes, as it will be down on the full two-day portion of my visit at the end of the trip. I love the DL version. The only other bummers are that the train will be down - which I love on solo trips, as it's relaxing and a good park overview ride - plus I was planning to finally do Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, but it's also down the entire time. Ah well, still going to be a fun, relaxing time!

Trying to decide how to choose a starting park for my grandson (15) and me on Sat, Jan 25. I currently have it as DCA and our other 3 days (23rd, 24th, and 26 which is the day we leave) as DL. But I'm not really knowledgeable about the crowd trends etc, and I don't normally travel with a teenager so any advice is welcome.

His tickets are comp tix so that's why I've not set his starting park dates yet, just mine.

Personally, I think if you are starting at DL for three days, you should start at DCA for at least one. Pixar Pier lines (Incredicoaster, Midway Mania) are usually short in the morning. Webslingers and Guardians will be longer, but not as long as they are later in the day.

Lunar New Year starts in DCA on Jan 17. If you are interested in doing the food booths, it will be easier on the day(s) that you start at DCA. We usually get in line to purchase our items before the park hoppers arrive (maybe 10:45 am). You can order everything at one register and then bring your receipt to the different booths throughout the day. The lines are usually to order food, not to pick it up. You can order everything at one register. It doesn't need to be the register next to the booth where the food is being served. Most people get in line at the first register they see. Lines are shorter if you make you way farther into the park. Note that if you purchase a Sip and Savor pass (8 items), you get a MK discount.

I would echo starting at DCA 1 day. Rope drop Racers. Then work in the rides you want to do with a shorter line while the times are low.

Starting 2 days at DL should give you enough to get all the rides you want, maybe even most twice, before the crowds get heavy.

Wife and I did rope drops at DCA, DL, DCA for 3 days and we are knocking everything out quickly. We are going to jump to DL at 11 today with riding everything we want to in DCA twice and only needing to ride Tiana’s in DL.

As far as which day to choose DCA based on crowd size, is Sat a good start day there? Or would a different day be better or not really matter?

Doesn't really matter for DCA. I would figure out which days you want to rope drop DL and what your priorities are at rope drop and do DCA the other day(s)

DCA was our starting park yesterday, Saturday. It was low crowds & low waits until 11am. We didn’t rope drop either. Got into the park around 8:30 am.

We picked our park days opposite of a park’s early entry. Worked nicely for both parks. Did DL on Friday & DCA Saturday. At DL we rope dropped and knocked out the following in order without LL before before 11 am: Indiana Jones, Pirates, Winnie the Pooh, Tiana’s, Hopped onto the train to Toontown (which I think is going down for refurb), Mickey’s Runaway Railroad, grabbed breakfast at Galactic, & then Alice In Wonderland. Then parked hopped to DCA at 11:04 am. Rode Monsters Inc, Incredibles, 1st LLMP Webslinglers, and used 2nd LLMP for Guardians at 1pm. Took a break back at hotel and then stacked LLMP for DL starting at 6pm and onward.

why has guardians been above 100 mins most of the day & LLMP out early? the rest of the parks seem chill

There is a new fire in north Los Angeles/south Ventura counties. For those who had planned on visiting Magic Mountain, it is closed. For those driving up to Northern California, I-5 is closed. They are suggesting that you take Hwy 14 through Lancaster.

Edit to add that the freeway re-opened.
