***January 2022 Thread*** - Kicking Off 2022 with WDW!

Trying to decide if I want to switch from a 5:50 pm flight to a 7:00 pm flight from MCO to BWI I can save another $15 and stay at resort an hour longer just trying to decide if there is any advantage crowd level-wise to taking the 1 hour later flight....

I usually take a later flight so I can hang at Springs that day and shop/drown my end of trip sorrows so that extra hour and that $15 would come in handy. I am usually stressed on a travel day so don't normally go to parks. I do have a park pass for MK this year on travel day but might just do a monorail crawl and end up in Springs as usual.

ok so I did check it out...only at MCO right now and just for those using regular TSA security lines...not for those with TSA PRE unless you just want to go through the regular security lines.
I don’t think Clear’s Reservation Lane would make sense for those who have PreCheck, unless, of course, you happen to be one of those unlucky individuals who has PreCheck missing from their boarding pass, due to TSA’s random security action. I have never waited in the PreCheck line at MCO more than a few minutes, over the past 7 or 8 years.
There are a limited number of time slots available, each day, for reservations. If you don’t find a suitable time before your travel day, you can also stop at the Clear kiosk on your travel day, and inquire if there are any open times before your flight.

It definitely wouldn't be useful for me since I have pre-check, but I could see if being helpful if you're in a large group or have small kids. My only concern if I made an appointment was if it was an exact time and if you get a bit of room if you're delayed or not. Orlando traffic could definitely get crazy. I actually think that's an advantage to being on property vs off.

So to me, this is a bit of a catch 22. While staying an hour longer sounds nice, going to the airport could take longer because you'd probably be leaving during rush hour. However I think your security lines could be a little longer for the earlier flight. Most overnight international flights (to Europe) are going to really be going between 6-10 pm.... so check in for those is 3 hours ahead and it could be around the same time you're trying to get through. It really boils down to which way will make it easier for you.

So we leave Monday. Trying to pack. What to wear when it's low 70s. Shorts? Pants? I know layers but thinking of my legs. Lol

I'm having the same question. When we were at Disneyland, it was low 70s and I went with leggings and jeans, but the humidity in CA is much lower. I'm thinking of seeing if I have a lightweight pair of pants I could carry with me to either wear over the top, or pop into a restroom to change quickly. I think I'm going to pack capris too - a nice middle ground :earsboy:

It depends...if you have nice legs show them off...I joke.
For my late January trip I am bringing only shorts and 1 pair of jeans...will layer on the top...sweatshirts, maybe gloves to hold cold drinks hehe.

Disney Parks Instagram posted new treats coming to MK starting Jan 10th, which is our first park day and we plan to do MK in the morning! Looks like 9 new things and they announced one so far, a Mickey cinnamon bun that looks to be the same as always except it has a chocolate 50th medallion on it.

One week to go and I can’t wait! Things I worry that could derail us:
  • Flight cancellations-have a dining reservation 4 hours after scheduled arrival
  • Covid-husband’s family has 6 members sick. We were around them on Christmas-so far we are negative and showing no symptoms
  • My mother who is elderly and looks like she is developing a foot ulcer. I am the one who helps her. Maybe her someone while we are gone
  • Covid-concerned that Omicron may impact staffing everywhere
Trip is paid for, suitcase is ready to be packed. I just need to QUIT worrying!

The extended park hours for one of the days during our trip - 1/22/22.
We are arriving that day and won’t be going into the parks.

I think we will see more extended hours 1/23 on as well, they just haven’t updated those yet. I think most 8pm MK will turn to 9pm, not sure about what else.

We leave tomorrow. Worried too. Fingers crossed

I'm hoping some of the flight issues we have been seeing is going to subside with the decrease demand for flights now that the holidays are over. Even if there's reduced staff out sick (hope they all get better quick), this isn't the most popular travel time of year. Generally it picks up again in February.

So quick question as I'm starting to decide on cash I need to bring with me for a few incidentals. I just want to make sure my schedule/math would be correct..... I arrive on Wednesday. According to what I've read, Mousekeeping won't come back into my room until Friday and then the next day they would come in would be Sunday? So I would need to have a tip in there just those two days, plus the day I leave? I want to make sure I get that setup in the envelopes in advance so I don't forget it.

That is correct!

Yah, flight delays are my big worry but luckily our snow is turning into rain so I think those will go away. Delta seems to be faring better than Alaska out of Seattle so I think we'll be OK.

so worried about flight cancelation!! only getting there though! We don't leave for another 2 weeks 3 days and so many unknowns! ackkk! :crazy2:o_O
i have been checking every day on the United app to see if my flight for that day is cancelled. So far none of them have been. Looks like the flight always comes from Tampa to Newark and then to Orlando so hopefully no weather issues with that route. Fingers and toes crossed and knocking on wood. 18 more days!
