OH ACK! Missed that! SORRY!!

Well spent day debating if we should buy CityPass or disney tickets from LMT & buy san diego zoo tickets Seperately.

Finally decided to get tickets Seperately through LMT & in process talked my hubbie into an extra day!! 4 days Disney instead of 3 :rockband:

On our last trip a few weeks ago we did a few TS places for the first time that we enjoyed.

1. Blue Bayou-nothing beats the atmosphere. It is dark in there though which I had figured but I had also underestimated. It is a little weird not to be able to see your food that well. I had the Monte Cristo which and gumbo which were both very good. We had a lot of fun eating in Pirates and sitting by the water and watching the boats go by. I would call and make sure that a party so large could be accommodated by the water though since the water side tables are very small and I felt a bit squeezed with just my self, my 13 year old, my 6 year old niece and my 9 year old nephew. The kids got a real kick out of it and they loved their light up drinks in the dark but it was also a very long meal-longer than they were prepared to sit there for sure. It was also about about 130 for the 4 of us for lunch which, though I knew it would be high seemed a bit over the top for 2 monte cristos and 1 kids mac and cheese and 1 kids strip loin and 4 lemonaids. Also that was supposed to be with my AP discount but it was so dark in there that it was hard to see and looking back I am not sure it was applied like it should have been.

2.Carthay circle-fabulous service and tasty food with very lovely 20's hollywood glamor meets Disney history sort of a motif. My son and I both had the burgers which were very good. My nephew the mini tacos-which he said were delicious but they were a very small portion and he was still hungry after. My niece got the Rice Penne with marinara (she had a lot of food allergies hence the rice pasta). Everyone really enjoyed their meals and they got a kick out of the fanciness-My kids giggles when the host put the napkins on their laps for them and, being very young kids who are usually left home while the adults enjoy fine dining, they got a kick out of the finery of the decor and formal behavior of the servers who called them sir and madam. I also had a specialty cocktail called the poison appletini that was delicious and came with a glowing poison apple in it which was fun. The bill was less there than the BB despite it being finer dining and me getting a cocktail but maybe they just applied my AP discount while BB didn't. our lunch was 85 which is more in line with my expectations for lunch for my and 3 kids.

My husband and I ate at Blue Bayou during our last trip (my dad came so he took the kids while DH & I had a date night). The food was really good, and we did get a water front table (though we had to wait an hour beyond our reservation time to get it!). It was a really neat experience for the most part and we enjoyed it. We did have SEVERAL different people who were riding Pirates that yelled at us while we were eating which I was surprised about. The first couple people just joked about us sharing food with them and we thought it was odd, but the 3rd guy was really obnoxious and kept shouting at my DH to throw him a roll. It was dumb but kind of ruined the ambiance of the restaurant. Has anyone else experienced this?

Carthay Circle sounds awesome! I've heard about it but worried about it being fancy - it sounds like we don't have to worry about dressing up or anything so maybe we will try it out!

I have heard this a lot about BB but no one shouted at us they only waved-actually I think if they had I would have had to sit on the bread basket because they boys would have found this to be a fabulous idea and I was out manned and out gunned 3/1 on our last trip.

Carthay was fancy-and yet most people were in their park clothes with just a few people in nicer casual wear like polo shirts and khakis but no one was dressed up-though I think they get a few people who dress a bit nicer for dinner. Still most people are in park clothes. The atmosphere is that of a nice restaurant and though my kiddos weren't used to the fine dining experience I can thankfully say that they all know how to behave in a restaurant and though most people arent dressed up the level of behavioral expectations is still that of a nice restaurant-so no running around, being loud or monkey business. At one point when we were getting our entrees my niece got up to go to the bathroom and the waiter started to say something and then stopped himself. I asked him what he said and he said "oh nothing, I just thought she was going to run around for a minute and I was going to say something about it but I see youre just going to the bathroom, sorry". So I think some people may forget their restaurant manners in there and just let their kids be rude because "it's Disney" and the waitstaff is ready to let you know that that won't work there.

My kiddos (6,9 and 13) were the only small children in the place that I saw but I think that that has more to do with people not choosing a more formal meal over more family friendly places and it being the most expensive restaurant in that park. really it is no more expensive to bring kids there than it is at Ariels or the Italian place-kids meals are cheap anywhere but adult meals are what get a lot more expensive there. We really enjoyed it, including the little guys and we really liked the viewing area for WOC and that it was less crowded and easier to get a spot on the rail in the Carthay area than in the other dining packages area.

Rats we still can make WOC reservations yet. I know Im still about 58 days out but I was hoping with the 60 window open I would be able too. If things keep going they way they did in October I'll be making my WOC ADR's 30 days or less out sheesh.

That's a bummer & also annoying. Who wants to check every day...ugh! Hopefully it will open up. What reservations are you making?

We had a tentative trip to WDW planned for January, but recently changed our plans back to our home away from home! First trip back in 18 months. We're still working out the details but will be there over Star Wars Half weekend. Seriously considering doing the 10K but I haven't decided yet. It would be my very first 10K.

Anyone know how the races impact the parks? Will it be crazy crowded? Will there still be early entry for resort guests? We are planning a split stay with a couple nights off site and a couple at the Paradise Pier.

Well, not the greatest news for anyone who has an upcoming stay at the Grand California in early 2017 ...........

We have our first ever trip to DL coming up in January 2017 . Was able to get a whole week at GCV in a 1 bedroom villa using our DVC points !
Just got the dreaded "letter" today ..............

"Beginning January 3rd 2017 .......... the Fountain pool , Mariposa pool and the Redwood pool will ALL be closed until spring of 2017 . Including whirlpool spas , childrens pools, and cabanas will all be closed . Guests will be welcome to use any of the other Disneyland Resort Pools . "

WELL THAT'S JUST GREAT !!!!
I mean its cool that we can visit the Disneyland Hotel pools and all , but really ??? Closing ALL the pools at GC for a few months !!!! WHAT ?!?!?!
This has to belong in the "WHAT ARE THEY THINKING" folder right !?!?!?!?!

Yea .............this sucks !

I am trying to book a WOC dining package. I do not want to check everyday but without some sort of special viewing privilege my short self will be in line for hours and may still end up watching only the parts of the show thay can be viewed over taller people's heads.

Oh the plus side the Disneyland hotel has the best pools of the all the DLR's so at least you'll have access to best one if you'll be put an an inconvenient position but using the pool at another resort does suck. Who wants to walk over in their swimsuit to another resort in January. You would have thought that they could leave one pool open for the convenience factor.

Oh man I feel you! I would definitely be disappointed in spending so much money to have pool not available.Would you be able to switch which disney hotel your staying at? :scared:
We are staying off site, but choose hotel with indoor & outdoor pool since JAN & was thinking rain maybe possible?

I have read that parks are more busy on race weekends & there is also a large convention weekend after race, many hotels booked up. I would assume early entry still going on though. Kuddos to you for possibly running in race! That's great! What exact dates will you be visiting?

I think we'll be there January 14-17. Still working out the details. The 10k is the morning of the 14 so we'll likely get in the night before. We almost always drive in from Utah so that gives us some flexibility.

There is a minor rumor that POTC is in need of a refurb, and that it may take place in January . I REALLY hope this rumor goes away fast !

We're going at the end of Feb. and I've been sitting on pins and needles wondering when POTC will be going down for refurb.

It's going to be the 50th anniversary of the ride officially opening on 18th March 2017, so I would suspect that it would go down some time prior to that point for a refurb.

Just a matter of when and not if, in my opinion. So far, I haven't seen much discussion about it.

Have you been able to make your reservations yet?

I'm really hoping so :) I will be getting close to 60 days out now too & have to make some decisions about where to make reservations
