January 2015

If by early January you mean any time around the 3-5 (some schools still out on winter break since New Years Day falls mid week), 8-11 (marathon weekend) or, 17-19 (presidents day weekend) then yes you may be out of luck as those are popular weekends. They usually will sell plenty at the popular resorts without discounts.

So crazy! Availability is great for the 4-7, but once we hit Marathon Weekend, it's pretty sparse for CL at the Epcot area resorts and CR.

As for race weekends, we stayed at Poly during Marathon weekend three years ago and BWI during Princess Half Marathon weekend this year. Discounts were available all over the place for a number of the deluxe resorts during those stays. So I'm surprised, but I guess this results from the rise in runDisney popularity!

For my Oct trip I had all kinds of trouble finding dates at Deluxe level. It was the Tuesdays. :confused3 If I did check in or check out on Tuesdays no problem if I tried to bridge a Tuesday it showed no availability every time.

For Jan the trouble was the weekends at the values. Until I started looking at the last two weekends there was limited rooms (at standard level) or I could get the day before or after but not the actual weekends to come up. I was trying to go early on either the 3-4 or 10-11 but sketchy availability. I think everyone has booked up at RR since they opened, but I bet once discounts become available it will thin out as people settle on the reservations they actually want and release some of these others.

So funny about the Tuesdays! And I bet you're right about the dust settling when the discounts are released. Meanwhile, we're talking ourselves into a deluxe CL room at WL instead of standard CL at BWI! I bet I'll convince myself that WL is the way to go, and then WL will sell out and BWI will open up again! Hoping for discount news soon! Maybe Oct 4, since the current GP discount expires on Oct 3?

Quick question about the room only discounts. My extended family is planning on going from January 1st-8th. If they release room only discounts and say it starts the 4th, does that mean we can start getting the discount on the 4th or are we not eligible for the discount at all since our vacation starts the 1st? I've been stalking to try and find discounts for that date but I just realized they may not work for our dates.

Yes, you would get the room only discount, if available, for those days, and pay the usual rate on the other days.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I only read the last 6 or so pages.

Can anyone tell me which resorts and which dates were excluded from last year's promotion in January.

We're checking in on the 18th but wouldn't be surprised if that date is blocked because it's MLK weekend. Not opposed to a split stay, it's just not ideal.

I'm at WL in Oct and even with major construction they had almost nothing when fall discounts came out. I had RR and then a split then stalked until I got all my nights on the same reservation at Discount. Even then I had to settle for a bunk bed room to get the view I wanted. Absolutely no AP discounts. I've been following the thread and it has a lot of very loyal fans.

I have come across the issue of no "standard" rooms being available at Deluxe resorts the last week of January...does this mean that if Disney does release the spd or free dining or RO discounts, that since these rooms are not available now, they wont be available or included in the discount? Does having no availability in those rooms that week decrease the chances of getting discounts?

What do most people do? Wait until the discount is released to book or book ahead at rack rate and hope for a better deaL?

Does anyone know the blackout dates from last year in January?

Well if there is no availability then they have no reason to offer a discount for that room category. This doesn't mean another room category at your resort won't be available though.

I've wondered the same thing as we are checking in Friday of mlk weekend (16th).

From what I could find the spd was based on a number of days - I found a post from someone last year who checked in and out on the same corresponding days as we are in regards to mlk weekend and they did get the discount so that has me hopeful. When I talked to a cast member I was told mlk weekend isn't typically blacked out but as said around here - take that with a grain of salt.

If I understand correctly POR has been excluded from some discounts in the past (where we are staying) so I've come to terms with changing resorts if needs be.

We've had some unexpected medical bills come up so hoping we qualify for something! Any little bit will help lol.

We've gone on the last week of Jan for the past five years and never had a problem booking a standard room at a deluxe (usually the Poly). We've always gotten a discount too. It would be unusual for all standard deluxe rooms to be booked at that time of the year before the discounts are released...is something going on?

I tried for a standard or garden view room at Beach Club starting January 5 and there's nothing available there either.

Just subbing to this thread! DH & I just decided to take an adults only trip Jan 11-15, and I just started planning. :)

I found standard rooms free at the Poly the last week of Jan. Haven't checked the others yet.

I had tried to get a standard room at Beach Club from January 4 on the day that bookings opened and it was just all blacked out that week. Ended up at YC instead.

Priceline has January Disney rooms available to book. Still not showing up on Orbitz, ect. but it should be any time now.

I officially booked Poly CL for Jan 28th-Feb 1st with a TA exclusive deal!!! I'm so excited :cool1:

Now to make a new ticker...
