January 2014 discount watch!!

So even at a moderate you get the kids price of a QS not kids price on the "standard" dining? Or are you saying you'd have to pay to upgrade from standard to deluxe

No, if you are staying at a Moderate or Deluxe, you get the basic dining plan at the kids price ($20) and you still have to pay the difference between Adults DxDP and adult DDP.

If you use SPD do you have to book all items separate or as a package? If I book now and call later I'm assuming they will adjust the reservation however it needs to be right? And it would not impact my ADRs... Right? Sorry - first year I'm thinking about booking it myself & not use a TA.

You would need to book a package for SPD.

They would adjust your price as long as you qualify, pending availability of your resort/room type.

No.
If you stay at a value, you need pay the child's price for QSDP + the difference between the adult DxDP and the QSDP.

If you are staying at a moderate or Deluxe, you need to pay the child's price for the DDP + the difference between the adult DxDP and the DDP.

Does that make sense?

Here's the math:

Staying at a value
$15.75 + (104 - 39.64) = $80.11

Staying at a Moderate/Deluxe
$20 + (104 - 58.66) = $65.34

Thanks, it does make sense.

I really hope the S/P/D pin heads my way, or just the GP offer. I've been twice (2011 & 2012) but we stayed off-site and only got QS food. My DF has never been to Disney, let alone on a plane or a rollercoaster, so I've convinced him that a Disneymoon would be perfect!

We'll be staying at POR in a King room 1/26-1/31 and we added the DDP. I paid my deposit on Friday. The S/P/D would be great! Only slightly less awesome than FD. ;)

We are in the planning stages.:thumbsup2 My husband picked the dates today. Jan.18- Jan.25,2014 at POFQ:cool1:Sure would be nice to get FD for 3 adults.pixiedust:

In general which do people find is a better discount? SPD or RO? We are doing sox nights at the contemporary (2 adults, 1 child, 1 infant) and would eat all those meals oop with no dining plan otherwise.

The room only discount is most likely to be a better deal than the SPD plan for a family with only two adults staying at a deluxe resort. When we were at the WL last February the room only discount saved us more money, than the SPD plan. For my daughter, her husband and two kids, the room only and the SPD saved them just about the same amount. You'll have to run the numbers to see which will save more.

Last January the SPD offer saved us a tiny bit more than the RO offer. We are a family of 2A+2C, and we were at the WL for that trip. (The RO discount at WL was only 25% compared to the 30% at most deluxes.) The difference was negligible, something like $20-$30 total for a 10-day trip.

^ Looks like you and I are both going for our birthdays this year! Unfortunately min is my 40th (shudder).

I am going for my 30th!

Except my bday is feb 7 and I will be there Jan 9-18 for the marathon. Close enough!

Anyone else keep checking to see more pins have been sent out? Every day I don't get one, I'm happy that no one else has either! haha

Going Jan 23-31st!

I'm curious, too. Fingers still crossed for a January PIN.

I rented points for this upcoming January and no matter what kind of deal Disney may offer I'm still going to come out ahead. I compared what I'm paying for a 7 day split AKL Kidani Savannah View/BCV stay with Dining Plan to the "Stay, Play & Dine Plan" and I'm saving $1,200 for the week! Even if they offer a great room only discount, I'll still be ahead. :teacher:

Emmebelle - I understand the "locked in" / OCD thing, but that's what trip insurance is for ;)

I don't know how you pulled that off unless you were going to pay the per night rate for the villa room. I looked into renting points and people wanted $12-$14 per point and depending on how many people that definitely wasn't saving us money...

^ This. The cheapest points rental I find is $ 11 and it's usually not enough points for me since I need 11 nights worth. The basic I find for 11 nights at a DVC is like $ 3800 for 299 points.
