Hi All,
I am new to this whole DVC rental thing. We have always stayed on resort in the hotels, but now that we have 3 kids I think it's time we upgrade to some more space.
When should I start looking to rent points for the trip? I thought it was 11 months out, but when I look at the chart it says that 2011 points aren't available yet.
How should I start researching? Pick the dates and then post on the DVC Forum for people willing to rent during those times? I am somewhat flexible with where we stay.

iirc I don't think reservation wanted posts are allowed on Rent/Trade Board any longer.

Decide what DVC resort you want to stay at and use link at upper right to get approximate idea of how many points you'd need based on dates/villa size(unless one of your kids is under 3 you'd need a 1 bedroom or larger villa). *2011 points charts have been released by DVC but are not posted here as of yet. You can read through posts on Rent/Trade board to find a member who has available points at DVC you'd like to stay at & then let that member know your interest. Read and understand all stickies at top of R/T board so you can be well informed on rental process and risks involved as well.

From 11 months through 7months+1 day before check-in date you'd like is what is known as Owner's Priority Booking Window; if you want to stay at BLT for example you'd need to rent reservation from a member who owns BLT points so they can make reservation during owner's priority booking time (note that BLT points could not be used to book at AKV, etc. during priority booking window but could only be used to book at different DVC resorts at 7mos or <)

Thanks!! That helps a lot...I am going to start researching the different 1 bedroom villas our kids are 8,6, & 2 so we might just bring a blow up sleeping bag or something for 1 of them! But the 2011 points makes a big difference...
