January 2010 at DL resort! Official thread....who's all going?

I am so excited! This will be my daughters' first trip ever (They are 5 and 20 months). We are going from Jan.29-Feb.3. I have gotten so much good info. from the board already. Thanks everyone!:dance3:

Hey everyone, my DH and I are going for our first trip ever trip to DL in January. We are WDW veterans, so this is a big change for us. We arrive on Jan 21 and spend two nights at the Villas at the GC, then one night to visit our son who is moving to Orange County, then two more nights back at Disney, maybe the Villas again if the waitlist clears and if it doesn't, then one of the other two DL hotels.

We have no plans, no meals booked, nada--just don't really know what the heck we are doing, but we plan to do it well. :cool1:

So fun, your daughters will love it. Well, I don't know about the 5 month old because I didn't take mine to Disney until she was 1, but she LOVED it. You will have so much fun. Be sure to get tons of pictures of your girls' reactions.

You will be fine without plans. It is so much easier to do DL without plans as opposed to WDW. Things are so close, you can decide on a whim which park to go to or which hotel to visit and it will only take you a few minutes to walk to them (as opposed to those long waits for buses and bus rides). If you have any questions about DL vs WDW, just ask. You'll find that DL vs WDW has similarities and differences, but you will love the close proximity of things in DL. Enjoy your first trip and your stay at the VGC.

That cat is finally out of the bag, and DD10 finally knows that we are going!!!:yay: I don't know who is more excited, me or her. We start our 11 hour drive :drive:south to Edmonton Alberta on Monday. We fly from the Edmonton International on Dec 31st. Will be in line to get in by 12:30 if all goes well, wish us luck to get in.:woohoo:pixiedust:

Have a great trip and hope the roads are good for your trip to Edmonton.

We will be at Disneyland the 5th-8th. Can't wait! :cool1:

We are traveling with my parents, my two brothers and their families and of course my hubby and kids!

Is anyone concerned about crowds due to the Rose Bowl and the BCS National Championship? My brother is convinced it is going to be a madhouse and really didn't want to go these days but my husband is starting his final semester of nursing school the Monday we get back so we couldn't put it off another week.

Also, does anyone know if there is a good place to find out about dining with food allergies at DL? My 18 mo old is allergic to dairy and I am a little concerned about that.

And a final question.... how do we dress for January weather in CA? I look at the temps in the 60s and think short sleeves and sandals but I'm from Utah where it is 14 degrees today and once we hit 60s people are wearing shorts. I have heard that 60 in CA is different than 60 in Utah. Any suggestions?

I've been reading that Januarians should dress in layers as it can be cool in the am and warmer as the day progresses. January also seems to be a rainy month for Anaheim so bringing some rain gear may be helpful. Especially if you ride Splash Mountain:rotfl:

17 Days to go !!! Eeek... time to start packing.

For all those that are going in the next few days, hope you have a fantastic time and please report back after your trip.

I can't believe the day after tomorrow is JANUARY!
I hope everyone's trips are as magical as can be.
I have three weeks to go!
Acccccck!
I think I am fast approaching panic mode.
I did order our glowsticks for the park last night, so that's something at least!
And bought some warm clothes for the kids...
But there is so much more to do!
I guess I am in panic mode.
:eek::eek::eek:
Time to make a list!

25 days to go! Tomorrow I surprise the kiddos! :thumbsup2

The weather looks pretty good for next week. Layers will be perfect!

Peg, is that your puppy? That pic is hilarious!!! :) Yup, tomorrow is the beginning of 2010! Good thing, 2009 didn't end so well, someone tried to break into my car last night. Good news, the window is already fixed (gotta love Safelite's home service!) and we leave in just a few hours!! YAY!

No, Pixiewings... not our puppy in the picture. Just saw it on a blog and it made me giggle. It still makes me giggle every time I see it. :goodvibes
Our sweet pup is now the grandma of our fam and prefers not to have her picture taken.
Happy New Year, Dis-ers!
Happy January, Januarians!
