January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Well I hope everyone is having a nice Sunday. It's hot here, in the low 90's. Of course our AC has decided that it was optional to work, and it picked the option to not work. Luckily, we are just renting this house, but I have to wait until Monday to be able to get anyone out here. In the meantime, we have bought several more fans, and have them running at all times. I have just been keeping my long hair knotted up on top of my hair kinda like a bun. I hate my hair this time of year. It goes all the way to my bum, and is just too hot left down.

Wow I guess my kids get a longer summer break than most. . . They get done this Friday - June 5 and don't go back until September 8!! :woohoo:

Hi Snowbirds! Just checking in to see how of your planning is going! Sounds like everyone is getting ADR's in place! I'm so excited for you all . . . . just wish that I could be part of the fun.

I still have my 1/2 marathon registrations to try to unload. I don't know if that is even possible. It's a lot of money to let go to waste.

No new baby news to pass along. I'll be 15 weeks tomorrow and have been feeling baby move for a coupld of weeks now. We'll get to find out if it's a prince or a princess in the middle of June. I can't wait!

I'm ready to start planning my next trip! LOL

Can't help you with the marathon but I'm glad to hear that baby and you are doing well! Still crossing my fingers for you!

I thought we had a long one. We were out May 20th, but we go back probably the second week of August...and we have A/C.

That's great news!

Mindy, glad to hear the little bun in the oven has started 'talking' to you!! I always loved when they started moving!! What a little miracle!!! Yep, pretty hot here today too. We are definitely in summer mode. We don't get gradual warming....just straight to hot, hot, hot!!! :headache: Not much relief til about Oct either!!! That's what makes us dread hurricane season---no electricity. No air and killer mosquitos!!!!!!! We are already praying to be spared this year! We need a break!!!! Last years (Ike) was awful. Tomorrow is the official first day of Hurricane season, but they are predicting less activity than last year!!!!

Hello all!
I can't believe some kids are out of school. June 25th is our last day of classes and they return the day after labour day in September. I think DD will definitely want to move south of the border if she found out!

I did my shopping and was so excited! I searched for these infamous Vera Bradley handbags online for shipping to Canada since our return from our Jan2009 trip. No luck. Well my shopping trip yesterday to Niagara Falls and Buffalo paid off. I am now the proud new owner of a Vera Bradley On the Go in Raspberry Fizz. I was thinking Disney Parks as well as day to day purse needs I require.

Once I found this I was so happy! I had 2 colour choices! This and Calypso Blue. I am not a fan of blue, so Raspberry Fizz won out!

Mindy- good news on the little baby! Love those initial baby movements!

Positive vibes and pixie dust to all!

We also have that law in Wi. We cannot start school before Sept 1 or Labor Day which ever works. I think it goes that if Labor Day is after the 7th we can start on the 1st. We get out this Fri. I like it this way. My sister & her husband always take the kids on a vacation before school starts & it seems like its not as crowded for them when they go the last week or so in Aug. Now for tourism here in Galena IL that time frame is killer absolutely dead the Chicago schools all start the first week or two of Aug.

No Disney planning for us right now. We want to go with my niece & her husband either this winter or early next year. But as of right now Fred is on duty in Africa for at least another month. The joys of being a Marine.:guilty:

Yeah for Vera Bradley!!! I got the Morgan in Purple Punch for Mother's Day. I actually got to go to the store to pick it out since my DH had no idea what I was talking about! :rotfl: I'm glad that you had fun shopping over here in Buffalo/Niagara Falls!!!

Hey ya'll!! Drakes---love the purse. I have that in the mod pink. It holds quite a bit without getting to heavy. Glad you had fun in NewYork.
Kayte~hows it goin'? Have you found a job that you like yet? Or were you taking off the summer--can't remember.

Shawna, I still have the coffeehouse will keep it open for the rest of the year but I am trying to sell it turn key if possible. If not then i will just close & sell equipment off by piece at the end of the year. I can make too much $$ during the tourist season not to be open. So I am here 6 days a week right now. Not sure what I'm gonna do after will depend on finances. I do know that i'm not doing a dag gone thing for a least a month once things are settled!!

Plus its embarrassing that I go to bed earlier than my kids do during summer break. I really hate mornings LOL.

It's tough to run a business - especially in retail when you have to be open weekends! Good luck this summer and figuring out what to do next! Take your time - you deserve it!

My mom used to have a gift shop & tea room. She loved it, but it was very hard on her!! We were in a very small town and people are soooo fickle! She misses seeing every one, but she doesn't miss all the ordering, invoicing, bill-paying!!! YIKES!!!

Shawna, I see you have no ticker. Does this mean you haven't booked yet? Still looking at early December?

Righto Sheree!!!
I need to have time to just sit down and get some room prices. I am stuck between BC and CR!!!! We are definitely NOT doing the NYC thing---what we were gonna spend on that we are instead putting toward our Disney trip and maybe staying a day or two longer!!! WOO-HOO!!!:yay::cheer2:
I am thinking the first full week --unless the $$$ vary or what we want isn't available. ANYHOO--- maybe this week I can lock into something. I thought about a split stay...but I did that once and I sure hate all that repacking and checking in and checking out...:sad2: I don't know.Well, I like to be able to have something around 5 or 6 months,so, I really need to get cracking!! I am right at 6 months now.

Hi All!!!
We saw UP this weekend and it was a good thing I took the kleenex. It was such a touching movie. It was also a little more intense than I thought it would be. My kids were a little frightened by some parts and worried about some of the characters. I think the super loud volume they have in the theaters these days contributed to it too. Andrew is not a fan of loud and had his hands over his ears for parts. We loved it though and can't wait for it to be released on DVD!
