January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Oh I'm so jealous of all of you going back again! Someone go on Splash Mountain for me!!! The pas 2 trips it wasn't open and that has just about killed me . I just keep reminding myself that in about 14 months my sister and I will be Europe and I will be "patiently" awaiting my time in Disneyland Paris.

Well after that little blast of winter that just had to come through, spring/summer is coming back! Tomorrow it's supposed to be upper 70's! My friends and I are going down to Milwaukee to go to the zoo and do some other stuff, so I'm pretty sure at some point I'll get sun burned. The first one of the year I'm so excited for, however after that, I hate being red. That's my only colors, red in summer - white in winter. Oh the joys of being a fair skinned red-head.

The things we missed were HoP (which will still be closed), Mickey's Philharmagic (we can't wait to see it), Ellen's Energy Adventure, Tricera Top Spin, Backlot Tour, Little Mermaid....I think that's it. At least those are the things we wanted to do which we down for refurb.

We'll be pre-ordering the photopass cd again. It was so worth it to us! We didn't get in on a share in Jan, but it didn't bother us. I'm hoping we get even MORE pictures this time! We hit up every photographer we saw, but they were pretty scarce when I think about it. I'm hoping there will be lots more this time around. I'm looking forward to getting a good pic in front of the sorcerer hat without a big blue fence around it and construction-like vehicles in the background!

We missed Ellen as well, but I wasn't too upset about that one. In all the times I've been to Disney I've never been on Splash Mountain, so I'm REALLY anxious to try it this time.

Speaking of the weather.....it would feel a lot warmer today if it weren't for the ridiculous wind. It's crazy! However, tomorrow, we're hitting the 70's! It might hit 80 on Saturday and that's making me pretty happy. Yea for no more winter!

...to make life in Kansas worse the people in the area who are lucky enough to own land have decided that the last few weeks have been a good time to burn their fields.
Even though the last few days have finally been warm, our wonderful Kansas wind has been blowing smoke most of the day. It's super fun... I love the smell and how it's been settling in my skin and eyes to make me feel dry and itchy all the time.

Well, we told Madison about the trip tonight! I went out and bought her the Hidden Mickey book she wanted back in January. She was excited about it and then we said we're going again in 2 months! She was so happy that she cried!!! She just couldn't believe it. We then popped in the 2009 planning dvd to get us even more excited. I showed her some pics of Pop and her face lit up! Tomorrow, I'm getting up at 7am to call Disney dining to see if I can snag my ADR's. I think instead of CP or CM, we might try Tusker House for an early breakfast. We didn't see Daisy back in January and I know we can meet her there. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for one of the other ones too!! AH! So much to do in so little time.

Oh! I have more happy news to share. I've been looking at airfares on JetBlue (of course) all week and I had to do a double take today! Yesterday, the direct flight down to Orlando was $89. I go on today and it went down to $59! We hopped right on that!!! That truly made my day. We got a great price from Jax to Buf for the way home too. Getting great deals just makes the trip that much better.

That's so awesome! I'm glad you found such great rates. We found really good airfare as well, which is what ultimately got my parents to book. They were holding off for a long time, and it was kind of frustrating.

For those of you east of here waiting on the warm weather, it's coming!! We hit 83 today!! It was windy, but a lot better than the cold wind from a few days ago. Sadly, we're going to cool down and have rain over the weekend. Oh well!
My girls went to a birhtday party tonight for dinner, so DH and I went out to eat at a little bar in Stillwater and walked down by the St. Croix river. Beautiful!!!

Meghan - I just read on another thread that someone canceled a ressie for CRT on 6/23. Don't know if that is your date or not or if you were wanting CRT...
Also - we really liked Tusker for breakfast. The food was good - lots of choices. They had the yummy juice as they had at Ohana with guava and passion fruit. The characters were good, had a little parade. We asked Daisy if she was married to Donald and she shook her head no and pointed to her finger - no ring! It was funny!

The two restaurants that we love for breakfast are Tusker House and Chef Mickey's. Can't go wrong with either choice in my book!

Sheree-Thanks for the info on CRT, but we don't arrive until the 24th of June. I just got off the phone with dining again and no luck for anything that I want. I'm not giving up, I'm just aggravated. We didn't get the pin in the mail until Monday, and that was already past the 90 day mark. So...all these people booking with this code are going to have one heck of a time making ADR's (at least for the popular places).

We need to make our ADRs, but my younger brother and sister are incredibly picky, so I'm having a difficult time picking places that I think they'll enjoy.

I think I'll probably e-mail menus to my little sister and have her show them to my brother for approval.

That's awesome! More proof that this trip is meant to be. Good luck with CRT... call up until the last minute. We cancled our CRT ressies at the last minute and I'm sure others do, too.

I don't think we'll do CRT on this trip. The ones I can't get are CM, CP, LeCellier and Tusker House. I'm going to keep trying.

I hope my fellow Snowbirds can help me out with something. We're flying into MCO and taking ME to Pop. We need to rent a car on our last day (Sunday) because we're driving to see my in-laws in the Tallahassee area. The cheapest rental car I found was for Budget. Well, the locations to rent from where they have free pick-up service....they're not so cheap. We'd have to rent at the location at MCO which doesn't have pick-up service. Will they let my DH take ME to MCO to pick up a rental?? Thought I'd ask you guys before I called Disney. I'd appreciate any help!
