January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Meghan-we did the Harmony Barbershop in May for Keaton's first haircut! It was phenomenal and is now a "Must do" every trip. We went right when it opened, got both boys haircut (Andy was going to get his done, but we were so excited and emotional, we kinda forgot). We got Mickey ears that say Baby's First Haircut, a lock of hair wrapped up, TONS of stickers and pixie dust. It was "Magical" and only cost like $14/kid. We gave them $20/each. You should definately do it!!

Trixie-the only place I've ever bought pins were ebay. They were cheap and we had a good experience each time.

Tshirt makers-I found kids' shirts at Walmart for 3.50 last night (and was horrified at how much the dark transfers cost 5 for $10-yikes) so I only bought 1 pk of those and 1 of the others for the white t's. I also found white and navy blue boys' shirts on the clearance rack at Target for I THINK 2.49. I couldn't find plain T's for me anywhere but I have some old Old Navy basics I could add the transfers to!

Hope everyone's having a relaxing Friday evening.

Thanks for the info! I think we'll have to do this for sure. We did BBB on our last trip. I know she'd love to do it again, but this is less expensive. She'll be thrilled about getting her hair cut. My DH thinks we should cut her hair to her shoulders and I said no way. She said that she would like a trim (I'm thinking about 1/2 and inch). I'll put it on the list of things to do!

thats really awesome about the card-i told them it was her bday-i think I'm more excited than she is!

this happened to us at the Biergarten! we told them it was our son's BD and they brought out a card signed by the staff and a huge cookie! Then, the band announced it was his birthday. It was so cool!

OH! Thanks for reminding me. I have them, but I didn't pack string or anything to go with them. Or punch holes. Wouldn't do much good, would they? Man, I'm SOMETHING else... just not so sure WHAT I am!

Shuttle comes in an hour! We made it home safe and sound - the main roads were in great shape and side streets (that's where I live!) in mediocre at best shape. So, not a big deal. Heard the highway is kind of a disaster, but that's what I pay the shuttle driver for...

can you tell I'm rambling?!

LONG STORY SHORT (too late!): OVER AND OUT! I'll be back on the 17th! Thanks for the support and the chatter, ladies!

HAVE FUN! Safe travels! can't wait to here about your trip!

Has anyone taken their kids to the Main Street barber shop? I was just reading about it on the tips thread and the more I read about it, the more I want to take my DD there. I've read about the colored gel, pixie dust and such but I was just looking for some Snowbird feedback. She has NEVER had a hair cut, not even a trim, and I thought it would be fun to get her 1st hair cut at WDW.

We (okay, I) want to take our son there on this trip. He's in need of a haircut, and DH wants to take him next weekend. I told him to wait until we get to Disney and we can do it at Disney!

This was our first attempt at our Christmas card. My dad took it a bit crooked! But you can see our faces pretty good. In the one we used, there was some flash off the fireplace screen (it annoyed me, but we did this the Thursday before Christmas, so I didn't have time to worry about it)!

How can I make them smaller in the post?

Sheree.... nice photos..... the Christmas card is very cute!!

Just read about this on allears.net. I SOOOOO have to do this!!!! It looks too cool to pass it up.
Disney's Design-A-Tee

Megan... I did this... I have a cute purple T-shirt with Tink on it with my name.... love it... really nice quality shirt...

I'm sitting here at the computer, just typing away, and the hallway light comes on. DH comes upstairs, pokes his head in the room, sees me typing away and starts laughing. He says "chatting with your snowbird friends again." :lmao: He says it like I do this all the time! :lmao: I know, he thinks I'm nuts, but he loves me anyway!!!

LOVE those pictures! I don't know if my DD will go for the colored gel or not. We'll have to see I guess. She'll love the Mickey confetti though! I don't know about doing first thing in the morning. We're heading straight to Fantasyland (she's never been on Dumbo!). I don't mind waiting. We have two full days at MK.

Oh my gosh you guys have been chatty!! I have been so busy I haven't been on here...working, haircuts, packing, buying last minute things! AHHHH! I also have have some matching ADR's with Kazooie01:

Jan 25 Sci-Fi 5:00pm
Jan 26 Chef Mickeys 5:15pm

So maybe I will see her but I didn't see any others :sad1:

Cool! We'll keep an eye out!:thumbsup2

WHO WOULD'VE THOUGHT...So it took me two gas stations, a Walmart and a Walgreens before I found any mini M&m's canisters. Nobody has them anymore!! I finally found some at Quik Trip, but only the small ones. Does anyone else use the smaller ones or do I need to keep searching for the bigger ones?

They didn't have any at Target today and I forgot to buy some at the grocery store. I guess I'll be doing that tomorrow!

good evening snowbids...

Well I have started my long trip down to the World. We are now in Vancouver and we drive to Seattle on Monday for our flight to Orlando. Only 3 more sleeps!!!

I still have some more last minute details to plan, but I am so so excited!!!

I am using the smaller one but were not big into the pressed pennies. I guess it depends on how many you want to do :confused3

Greetings from a slacker snowbird! I posted on here ages ago, and haven't been back in waaaay too long. We are remodeling our home and I feel guilty being on here lurking much less posting when there is so much work to do. So, here are my updates for the roster (my hotel has changed, and I never posted my ADRs before):

Jan 23-30 @ POP
ADRs:
1/24 CRT @ 10am, O'Hana @5:30
1/25 Boma @ 6:05
1/26 Chef Mickey @5:30
1/27 Whisp. Canyon @5:20
1/28 Sci-Fi @ 5:50

I know I saw some other snowbirds who will be at POP during the same time so maybe we'll see you there! :)

I was checking the ADR list, and found some fellow diners!

Trixiequilts - what time will you be at CRT on the 24th? we'll be there at 10.

Kazooie01- we will be waltzing into Chef Mickey's just 15 minutes after you.

Also- for those of you who have scored the LGMH from the depot, what are your plans for them? I scored a bag load of them, but I'm limited on ideas.:confused3

Shelly and Trixie...since you were asking what I looked like...here is a picture of my sisters and I from the cruise last year. I'm the one in the middle. I usually wear in a ponytail minus the braids and I have a Eeyore hat.

What time are you at Chef Mickey's...Jan 20...we are there for dinner also at 6:35. I also am doing Fantasmic Jan 22.

Here is the pic...
