January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Hello all!! Well, what a rough 24 I've had!!! My 9 yo started acting funny yesterday evening---I could tell he was coming down with the sinus crud. But, of course he keeps saying NO, I am fine. Well, right before bedtime he is getting hotter and hotter. So, I ask him did he want some Tylenol--he's not super-hot, just warmer than earlier. No, he doesn't,but can he get in my bed and let me read one of his History stories with him (Sign of the Beaver---great book!). So, we read ,and he starts getting chilled--so he goes to potty--my kids, if they are gonna wet the bed, is when they start chills and fever in the night--- so he goes, then he comes back to bed, where he & I crash. Dh puts the other 2 to bed. (On the couch-they were watching a movie with Daddy). Well, the one in bed with me gets up 2 more times to go potty & at 2 a.m. I gotta get up and dig for Tylenol--he's def. hot now. So.....we finally go back to sleep-he's been restless and kept waking me up-now I can sleep.

BUT NO!!! older son wakes me up and tells me dd is puking--ON MY COUCH!!!! So, she's up til almost 5 this a.m. puking!!! I have to say I was about to collapse!! I am soooooo trying to get things ready for this big surprise and now this!!!!!!!! Well, she is now napping-I had to lay down for about an hour with her---I was fried!!! We are doing a scavy hunt for the kids on Th to tell them----but I am tempted to move it till tomorrow-----just so I can get some help with all this!! Poor DH is working sooooo hard to get all this stuff wrapped up at work!

I hated that I missed Shelly this morning!! And Trixie!!! Hoping you have a wonderful time!!! And anyone else leaving yesterday, today, or tomorrow!!! My mind is mud at this point!!!! I will say the boys are on track with school and I did get to sneak out and mail my care package to the Poly this morning!!!! So, all is not a loss!! I actually ran into my Pastor at the shipping store and he said-good thing that the sicknesses are now and not next week--don't worry about it, they have 4 days-it'll allbe fine and ya'll are gonna have such a good vacation!!!! HE's so sweet! I needed that--at the time I was sooo tired I wanted to burst out crying!! I tend to do that at times of super-stress/exhaustion! HA!! Or at any given disney moment. so if you see a mom of 3 crying for no reason next week---it'll be me!!!!!! Sorry this got long---I have no one else to turn to for sympathy today! HA!!:lmao:

I just decided to call the front desk at POR to make sure that my TA had put in my "request" for a room for our Thursday check-in. Boy, am I glad I called. The only notation was for a ground-floor room. Huh? :confused3 I never even told her that.

I asked that the request state that due to a medical issue (my foot problem that I have been getting cortisone shots for the past 2 months) that our room be: 1) close to a bus stop and 2) close to the main building. That's it - I really don't care if it is AB or the Mansions - just that it noted those two things.

The CM I talked to was very nice and added them in, but as I told her "I know that you can't guarantee anything, but thanks for checking into it for me and adding it to my reservation". Hopefully, when we check-in - we'll be pleased with the room we get. I am really disappointed in my TA - this is very unlike her (I have used her several times in the past to do our trips, but now, I'm going to have to rethink that).

Oh well, I guess its always a good idea to follow-up on things like this. Now, back to some packing/luggage tags/bill-paying, etc so tomorrow night we can relax for our early-morning wake-up and flight! SO EXCITED!! :cheer2:

I was so afraid of getting sick before my trip! However, I didn't. Now on the other hand I'm starting to get something...JOY!

Tonight, I'm going to try and write up a Trip Report. I started the first few days already, but it's kind of boring(:crazy2: ) So I need to see if I can "spruce" it up a bit.

Ok I'm off to watch some of the shows I taped while in Disney.....I WANNA GO BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear ya on the boring! I don't have a lot of people's way with words, THAT's for sure!! But I'm trying anyway. ;)

+++

Wow, I can't believe how many people are on their way all of a sudden!! I HOPE EVERYONE HAS FUN!

I just have to say I have yet to read a boring trip report! I'm sure it's fabulous!

Shawna- I'm so sorry to hear your kids are sick...sending some pixiedust: pixiedust: so they are better before you leave.

I made a little list of the last minute things I don't want to forget and well... my lovely toddlerprincess: took it and now it's nowhere to be found. She loves to hide things and put things into places we never think of. I know I'll find it around here somewhere but the question is will it be found BEFORE we leave or after we return when it will be of no use to me! Ugh!!!!:scared:

When all is calm and all the Snowbirds are back we should post a list of everyone's trip reports so we can slowly come off our Disney high :hyper: without the withdrawal symptoms being too overwhelmng.:rotfl2:

Oh Shawna - I hope everyone will feel better soon - and you get some rest!! I'm going to bed at 9 tonight! I got a beautiful cold sore yesterday - I'm sure from stress and lack of sleep! Tonight after gymnastics, Paige says, my ear hurts! Yikes!! She has a cough, so I'm hoping it's not turning into an ear infection. She was so tired, - quick bath, story and to bed!! Both the girls were up late last night with the tooth incident, and got up at 6:10 to see what the tooth fairy brought!! They played outside at daycare, and had gymnastics - how exhausting! I'm trying so hard to get them their rest before this trip - it seems to be backfiring!
pixiedust: pixiedust: Maybe this will help all of us!! I'm letting everything go tonight. Tomorrow's another day!

Oh my goodness Shawna! I'm so sorry to hear about your poor little kiddos. I'm sure everything will be better by Saturday for your (or should I say OUR) trip. I just had a good long cry this evening. I really needed it and feel much better now. Stuff has just been piling up inside and it felt good to let it go!

Not a problem! I have no idea where we'll be watching Spectro from. We usually sit in front of the Emporium (if I can remember correctly). I guess that probably where me and my family will be. Look for us if you're going to be there!!! (lot of pics of me and the fam in my PTR).

What an awesome way to celebrate a birthday, at the MK!!!!!

That's about where we usually sit (more across the street, but near there!), too, so I'll watch for you!!!

Hello all!! Well, what a rough 24 I've had!!!

Yikes, Shawna!!! Hope everyone starts feeling better soon!

OK -My ticker now says 1 DAY!!!!! :cheer2:

Getting down to the wire, but had lots of time this AM to get some things done, as I woke up at 4:00 AM and couldn't get back to sleep. But, I wrote out some bills, straightened up the kitchen table and counter, and organized the cat's things for her trip today to my father's house. I hope that tomorrow when I HAVE to get up at 3:30, I won't have any trouble. Our flight is at 6:45, so we have to leave for the airport by 4:30.

Got online at SW for boarding passes and clicked on right at the 24-hour mark. Got A23 and 24 for DH and I, but in the 10 seconds that I had to click onto DD's screen, six others had jumped in between, so she has A31. Her ressie was different as she is not flying back with us, but going to NY instead. But, I know that we will be fine with seats.

Feeling a little stressed (and acting it according to DH this AM :snooty: ), but I always get a little overwhelmed right before leaving hoping that everything goes smoothly. So, to everyone else leaving this week - have a wonderful trip and maybe we will run into some of you there!

Feeling a little stressed (and acting it according to DH this AM :snooty: ), but I always get a little overwhelmed right before leaving hoping that everything goes smootly. So, to everyone else leaving this week - have a wonderful trip and maybe we will run into some of you there!

There, there! :grouphug: How's that?

I was the same way (since we were also catching a snowstorm!) and my DH refused to cater to my stressed out behavior, for good or bad! And, in the end, my trip was just fine! (Once I was in the airport and saw our plane, I was in high spirits, that's for sure!)

Okay - one more day! Officially freaking out. I have done NONE of the super-packing I did last time and I have no idea what I'm bringing. I got the whispered recommendation from my daughter's teacher to keep her home from school today to hide from the stomach bug (and the "that's probably a wise decision" from my son's). I feel guilty about them missing yet another day of school, but better that they support the decision.

Of course, today was my last day to run errands, etc. I need to get stitches removed from my dog (fun!) and get my son's haircut (so I guess I need him for that part). Oh -and pack. My daughter asked DH why he wasn't starting to pack last night and he told her he prefers last-minute packing. nice.

Well, my son is still sleeping and this is when we'd normally be dropping him off from school, so hopefully that's a good thing!

Wish me luck today!

Good morning all. My DD went to bed with a bit of a headache last night and then she woke up with one that was even worse. It has to be a sinus headache by the way she was describing it. Great. She's developed my sinus problems. She's a tough little cookie, so I know she'll be fine at school today. I'll have to stop at the store later and pick up some children's sinus medicine. As for me, I could not get to sleep last night. I think I finally fell asleep around 1am. No time to sleep in today though. I have tons of :laundy: to do today, lots of choreographing for ballet tonight....the list goes on and on!

I would not blame the TA just yet. Call and ask her, it might have been disney. You are going to love POR, the grounds at both resorts are so awesome.

Meghan, Has she had her eyes checked?

Oh yeah, I'm right there with you. I think Pamouselover was suggesting that it might be vision headaches if it happens a lot - have her eyes checked. And maybe ask at school if she's showing any signs of trouble seeing.

Reminds me of the Disney commercial - "I'm too excited to sleep!"
We will all make it!! Hang in there. I've been trying to not stress, even though I have a cold sore that shouts "Stressed out"!! Last night I skipped doing laundry, didn't clean anything, just sat and did some bad mousekeeping envelopes (stickers) and went to bed at 9:30! I do feel better today, but have a busy couple of days until DH and DD5 leave Friday. Then it will be easier. All the packing will be done except my and DD7's carry ons. Then I'm going to just clean up.

Morning! I like sleeping in. Of couse it helps that I didn't get to bed until after 2 (where did my little whistling smiling dude go?!?!?!). We're having a heat wave here today...high of 26!!:beach: The windchill is still supposed to be low...but man I want summer!
Ok, off to find my coffee!
