On the phone again with the CMs at Disney...going to keep trying to upgrade if I can...Phillip totally Okayed it LOL!! I'm not quite sure what the music I'm listening to is right now...I think it might be Soarin' ...hmmmm....I wish it was The Lion King or Beauty and the Beast LOL!!!

Shawna...congrats on the good deal on the airline tickets!! That is fabulous!!!

Jen - what are you upgrading? Your resort? Did you get sucked into the CBR peer pressure? :)

I think my confirmation email gave me the date - I know the CM I talked to told it to me and I wrote it down. I should put a reminder in my calendar too!

Shawna - are you surprising your family too? I honestly don't think I could do it. I am constantly talking about it!! :mic: :chat:

Yes I am surprising them. They know we are going back, but they think we have to wait till October. Some years we surprise, some we don't-this will be the 4th surprise- they TOTALLY love the surprising better!!!

Thanks! I was floored!!!!
We were not our usual chatty selves today I see. I'm pretty tired from my very busy day. I'm not looking forward to working tomorrow, but I'll survive. I hope that you've all had a great day! Good night!

Hope you have a better day tomorrow!!

We've used up all our energy and excitement from getting or trying to get a great deal? ;)

My day was a little goofy at work. I got nominated to sit on what must be the most boring committee ever (something about best practices and real time financials and then it goes downhill). Then, my boss said the boss of another department asked if i could spend some time with that department, covering how to do some stuff. I said absolutely, paused, and said "But do you think I need to apologize to her still for turning down the job she offered me last year?" So it's totally cool that she thinks highly enough to ask for my help AND that she's not the grudge-y type, like my last boss (who won't even acknowledge my existance when standing on an elevator with me).

Tomorrow's my Friday. I'm totally over the surgery thing (which is the real Friday!). It's supposed to be very minor, so in my mind it's almost done and I'm on my way to recovery. This is cool - I've spent a LOT of time with my life on hold waiting for it.

And we have a new working wireless router. Back in my comfy chair!

Yay for the better job situation, and router! bummer for the boring assignment. Good luck with the surgery and recovery. I'll be thinking about you on Friday.

I'm trying but no luck yet!! Maybe tomorrow LOL...just need a little pixie dust!!!

pixiedust: Here you go!

I promised myself I'd get to bed at a decent hour, so I'm going to call it a night!! Talk to you all tomorrow!!

Glad you are feeling better. Sometimes just making a decision can really help get through things--the un-knowing is what's unnerving!

It was a weird day for me today Snowbirds.

My troublesome co-worker came in today and handed in her letter of resignation. I was shocked. She quit as of yesterday. No notice, nothing. Not very professional in my mind. Supposedly she has 32 years experience in my profession but I don't think it showed. Anyway, this means more overtime for me and my co-workers. It does make you think it wasn't us, when every co-worker, when they heard the news was relieved and did a happy dance.

It is such a relief knowing that one trouble is now gone but you become stressed again when you realize the workload has just become larger. Oh well, only a month and half until our other co-worker returns from maternity leave.

With every over time hour I will be looking at it as extra $ for Disney. Our Canadian $ did a nose dive, which is not great for my family. We have been putting off paying for our trip, as our travel agent thinks a deal may be coming and I don't want to cause her extra work by redoing something. Does any Snowbird know how much trouble it is if you have made payments on your package to then switch something? I should go email her this question. I know I will feel 100% better when it is all paid for and I know we will be officially going to Disney. Right now, I don't feel this way, as it is only a deposit.

I hope everyone has a great day tomorrow. My mom is getting me really worried, telling me that it looks like a large recession may be coming our way. I hope not. I would think my job is pretty much secured but my DH may not be so lucky. Let's all hope everything gets much better. Sorry if I brought anyone into a sour mood.

Have a good night tonight.

Remmy

Again - I'm back, this time for good!

One of these days, I'll read back all those 100+ pages but tonight, I'll just say hello! I miss y'all!

I heard about this website y'all might like --

www.subsonicradio.com

here's the blurb from their website --

Here you can relive your fondest Disney memories, by requesting the audio tracks from the attractions, resorts, and parades that you have come to cherish in the past and present. We offer one of the largest collections of Disney Theme Park Audio on the internet, as well as a friendly, helpful, and magical support staff. You can tune in at any time, with your favorite windows, mac, or linux based mp3 player. Start listening by selecting one of the streams on the left. Additionally, register an account to make requests and to setup your personal list of "Treasured" tracks, for easy retrieval of those often requested favorites.

Please forgive me if you veterans already know about this - I read about it and thought of my snowbird friends. I have yet to figure it out myself!

I've noticed that, even if you have a larger workload, the loss of a troublesome co-worker is such a relief that even the workload isn't as bad. Crazy how one bad apple can spoil the barrel...

I agree with debbieandroo. I know it's kinda icky to be short a coworker and the overtime can be long BUT... for me, when a coworker like that is gone, life gets much easier and less stressful. (I once had a coworker quit the day before they were going to fire her and we were all so relieved that another coworker helped her carry stuff to her car... and despite having much more work to do it was much easier to not have her around!!)

As for the recession, my FIL has been doing his doom and gloom dance for a few months now. There might be some truth to it, so we're just being careful but not going into handwringing mode like a lot of people are. Of course, we're in Michigan, so we've been in a recession for quite awhile.

Glad you are feeling better. Sometimes just making a decision can really help get through things--the un-knowing is what's unnerving!

Yay for the better job situation, and router! bummer for the boring assignment. Good luck with the surgery and recovery. I'll be thinking about you on Friday.

Thanks, both of you!! Today, I find out what time my surgery is.

Has anyone "seen" Kayte/coffeeshopmom recently? She also has (significantly more major) surgery (than me) tomorrow. She'll be in MY thoughts!

Good Morning, Snowbirds!! How is everyone this fine day?

Up early for work but wanted to check in before I start my daily preparations! Hope you all have a great one!

How about a QOTD!

If you could move in to one of Epcot's world showcase countries, where would you move? i would move into Norway. I'd love to ride Maelstrom over and over. The best thing would be that I could go out my front door and walk right on over to Mexico! LOL

I feel silly (as an adult) interacting with the characters. I guess I'm scared that inside that costume is a person thinking I am a complete wierdo.

I'm going to try my best to not be shy and interact with the characters.

BTW.... in real life I am actually very shy.

That's too funny!! And, too true!!

Awww... how can she hold her accountable for something that she didn't even understand?

I'm shy in real life too! However, it's the "face" characters that make me nervous. Something along the lines of being able to tell that they're real people. The fully costumed more cartoon like characters don't bother me as much, because I can't see their reaction. I can write them off as moving stuffed animals.

Moving stuffed animals....now there's a picture!

DH found out piglet is not real in 2005, he still is in shock.Piglet's zipper was down in the back. I had the waitress tell Piglet.

Didn't he feel a draft?! :lmao:

Jenny, I just noticed we are going to be at CBR mostly the same time! We'll be there the 26th to 2/1! We'll have to look for each other. :)

I'll be there, too! 23rd - 2/1!

Ah - a woman after my own heart! I too am around your age, although I (or nature) waited to have my children - they're 13 and 7 :scared1: Looks like we should be there around the same time - we should try to meet up and sit and have a nice cup of coffee while all the young'uns go running around :rotfl: .

That sounds like fun.... my boys will be off and about doing alot of golfing and stuff I am not.... so I will have tons of free time.....

How about a QOTD!

Oh... thats an easy one.... France... love the bakery.... the movie.... the perfume.. and the wine!!!!

Remmy.....:grouphug: hoping you have a better day today!!!

Tourguide Mike tells me we only have 72 days left until we are at DISNEY!!!!

Last nights news did the winter forcast....so they say that we will have above normal temperatures... (average temp in winter is 27 degrees)... and that we will have normal snowfall of about 140 inches.....with much of the snow coming in December.... problem with that is the news folks are about 1/2 hr south of me so they get about 25% less snow that we do... so that means another year of 170 inches of snow...yikes!!! thats not that far off....

Morning Fellow Snowbirds.... We are almost there.... these next 2 months are going to fly by. Before you know it we will all be enjoying the mouse...

That is good news in the long run. Least you won’t have that type of negative around you. I like my job just wish I had more hours. They vary too much. I might have to start looking for a full time job after the New Year. DH had a meeting yesterday at work, and he was told that they would not be getting raises this year. They said they have no lay offs in plan, but the company is not making any money. He works as facilities manager for a company that makes bathroom storage and organizational products for the retail market. Linens N Things were one of their clients, they are all closed down, and now they were informed that National Wholesale Liquidators are closing their doors.

Wow...I could only move into one....well then I would have to say Italy..because I'm an italian girl through and through...my Nona would roll over in her grave if I didn't decide to live there. Just the food alone would make me a happy girl forever.

Although I must admit a very close second would have to be France....creme brulee, croque monsieur!!! HMMMM....uhoh now I'm hungry LOL!

Good Morning my Snowbirds!!!!:goodvibes

Remmy- I think you will be much happier without her there!! If you pay off your package with a credit card and then a deal comes out they will credit it back to you. Just call and ask-but I think they will.

Sarah & Kayte-we'll have you in our prayers tomorrow!! Let us know how ya'll are doing!!

Debbieandroo~ Glad to have you back!!!

The QOTD : Hands down--The United Kingdom!!! Mercy-that is my favorite place ever!!!!I think if we were on a game show, my family would def. get that one easily!! I looooove that little tea shop with the cottage behind it. I try to get pictures of the kids there every year--we usually see a rabbit in the little garden. My little girl and I love rabbits-so it makes us happy:goodvibes

Goodmorning girls! I'm enjoying a delicious breakfast of biscuts & gravy. YUM!!! Hope everyone had a great evening.

It's a tough choice.... France for the food and Morroco because it is so beautiful.:lovestruc
