I have to say that Wicked is AMAZING!! DH and I grew up outside NY, so we went to Broadway quite frequently as kids. So every so often we now go down for the day, see a matinee and come back. For my birthday, he took me to see Wicked. Half-way through the first act, we turned to each other & said, "DD needs to see this!" We brought her down a few months later, and were lucky enough to see the Original Cast: Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenowith & Joel Grey!! This one stands at the top of the list fo rour favorites.

I didn't see a road company, so I can't comment on the effects, which were breathtaking, but I'm sure you will enjoy it!

I know!! All this talk about CBR made me go check it out. We've always done values for the price, but with the discount, makes me wonder...I'd be willing to upgrade to mods, just not AKL like hubby wants! I've heard the mods are so big its hard to get around. We're very lazy once we get back to the resorts, and pay for the preferred rooms, so what's the walk like to the busses and food courts at CBR? Is it worth the extra few hundred bucks? We really won't be in the rooms much, espcially since we have one less day down there, we didn't plan an "off" day.

Oh, I'm so sorry to desert you! What were your dates? I didn't think anyone was going when we're going. We ended up adding days and it turned out to be so much cheaper. Of course, being there longer, we'll have to spend more on food! The packing and organizing thing is really starting to freak me out! I have to cram us and SIL in the van with stuff for a week at WDW and the 4 day cruise. I will definitely be doing at the resort this trip!!
So much to think about!

We weren't going to be there at the same time anyway...we're leaving on the 25th. I'm just giving you a hard time. Now everybody's got me thinking about CBR too, though!

At the time we saw Wicked, I think D was about 16. The soundtrack is even more wonderful when you know the context of all the songs. Defying Gravity was one of the most phenomenal things I've ever seen. After it was over, there was silence in the audience - we were all sitting there with our mouths hanging open - and then the audience erupted! Have a great time!

OK, now I have a question for all our wonderful Disney experts.

I have a room only reservation at POP for our arrival date, January 3. We're arriving at MCO around 5 PM, so I assume ME will get us to POP around 6:30 or so. I have 7 day park hoppers that I bought from UT. Then we move to CSR on Jan. 4 with the 4/3 deal package with 1 day tickets. All's fine - I thought maybe we'd go see Osbourne Lights if we used the tickets I have.

Now here's where it get complicated. I did some calculations. If I change the package to 7 day tickets and return the park hoppers to UT, I still come out about $80 ahead. But we won't have the tickets on the 3rd, so no park.

I've just read about the "Monorail Cocktail Tour" on another thread. Given the likely crowds at the parks on Jan. 3, would it be a reasonable plan to ditch the park and just tour the Monorail hotels for cocktails & appetizers on Jan. 3?

What would you do?

Well it looks like for our travel dates we only have our room - at the ASMo or we can get the deal for AKL. Disney said AKL Savannah view with 2 queen beds was a moderate? I thought AKL was deluxe?
This was the only resort avialble with room sthat are for the special only. They have limited and she said "LIMITED' quite drastically the rooms available for this promotion and everywhere was taken. We'll keep calling, but AKL even with the deal will cost us $721.00 MORE! LOL not the deal I was looking for- to spend more than what we were already spending.

I guess it's not meant to be. I'll know more later as we keep calling back. LOL.

Even Thursday evening at 5:00 when the discount was first released my TA at Dreams Unlimited was trying to get space at the Poly. There was absolutely nothing from the beginning. We had to switch to Grand Floridian to get the deal. We are a little sad about not staying at the Poly but there's always another Disney trip.

I'm actually glad that you told me that! It makes me feel like I didn't miss anything. By the time that my TA got around to it, the only thing that was left was an OKW studio and a cabin at Fort Wilderness. I just wasn't willing to switch to that. I'd rather keep my existing ressie and be happy. I would have, however, been fine with GF, AKL, WL or even the Contemporary. All in the past now.

Today I have been studying for my exam that I have in a few weeks. It is a self study course and it has kept me busy! Too busy!
I think our at home PC with all my disney planning has been repaired and ready for use. So I will update my trip info shortly. Another Ya mE! Now if I could just get the Jan 2009 deal !

Another Question - anyone know if the updated the restaurants that are participating on the meal plan. I check this every week and have lost my link. I'll go try to find it now. I am hoping some of my ADRs get on the list or else I'll need to switch those too!

We are arriving on NYE around 12pm.Since I have heard the parks can fill to capacity by 10am on NYE, I decide to spend our first day resort hopping, and visiting DTD. I think it might be a good idea for you, but I am hoping by the 3rd the parks will be less crowded. That’s DS birthday!

I agree on the siggie. My countdown banner was only showing half of it, so I had to remove my Phillies banner. Which was very small.

I am trying to do some research on this resort, now that eveyrone is going there - has my interest !

I read in someones post that the pool was redone, is that the theme pool /piratesque pool or is it now totally redone.

I will head over the the resort boards but you guys here do a good sell job. If you were to book a room at this resort where would you want it to be?

One of the reasons we picked it was the great reviews from others. The Pirate pool is all redone, I saw pictures of it on the DIS resorts webpage. I was too cheap to book a preferred room (Martinique, Trinidad North I believe) so we don't know where we'll be. I didn't request anyplace (yet). I just asked a friend last night if you're in Aruba or Jamaica if you could cross the pool area to get to Old Port Royale, and she said not that she knew, you'd have to walk around. Maybe our CBR expert Shelly knows for sure. It all looks so beautiful, I'd probably love to walk around! I don't plan on hurrying for much on this trip, so I won't mind taking a stroll!

Yes, the pool at CBR is brand new. It just opened a few months ago. . . It is HUGE and is zero entry (like a deluxe resort pool! ) and has 2 slides. Next to it is the brand new children's pool - it is pirate themed and has several slides and a tipping bucket!

The rooms are currently being redone. Martinique & Barbados are done. They are working on Aruba right now. I would assume they will do Jamaica next since it is next after Aruba.

Martinique and Trinidad North are on either side of Old Port Royale (main pool, food court, restaurant, shopping). Some of the rooms in those buildings are "preferred", you can pay extra to be so close to OPR. You can also just "request" to be in one of those sections in a non-preferred room and be a few steps further away from OPR. Aruba and Jamaica are straight across the bridge from OPR. Maybe a 5 minute walk (we stayed in Jamaica). Barbados and Trinidad South are further out at about a 10 minute walk to OPR.

If you do not want to walk CBR has an internal bus that continually drives around the resort stopping at each bus stop. Each "village" has it's own bus stop, so you are never far from one. Each also has it's own quiet pool.

We didn't have any transportation issues at CBR. But WDW bus service is hit or miss at any resort, so always allow extra time! It does probably take 10 minutes or so for the bus to stop at all the stops before it actually leaves CBR. But once it leaves the resort you are within 5 minutes of DHS and Epcot. Maybe 10 or so from MK. And a little further to AK.

I really tried to get into CBR but there was no more availablity even with my AP rate...so I'm going to wait and either stay there or Wilderness Lodge in December. My hubby has already been warned I intend to book my trip while I'm down there...LOL!!! Going to make it a package with Dining so I can start making payments early LOL!!!
