I got my Disney maps in the mail yesterday!!!!! :woohoo: :cool1:

Did anyone else get theirs??? I remember us all talking about it either last week or the week before, I was surprised they came so fast! :yay:

Note to self about wardrobe decisions:

It's in the mid-70s, cloudy, overcast, breezy and I'm perfectly comfortable in T-shirt/shorts/tennis shoes - I'll try to remind myself of this when I'm packing in January - maybe I won't need all those jackets!

Welcome back Splash - we missed you! You've had a hard summer, haven't you? I hope things get better really soon. Yay for two Disney trips to plan!

Hellllooooo Fellow Snowbirds :goodvibes

I've been gone for a few days and am just checking in. I was away for a wedding on the beach in Nags Head, NC...in the middle of Hanna. The wedding turned out beautiful and all is well.

Hope everyone is doing well here and now I must catch up on what I've missed.

QOTD:

I've of course never been to WDW, but here is our plan. My sisters and I wanted to carry something that wouldn't be a pain when going on "scary rides". We've decided that although we are cool young adults, we will use a fanny pack type thing. We will only carry 1 camera, ponchos, KTTW, ID's, a bit of cash, and any other absolute essentials. We hope to fit it all into one pack and will rotate between who gets to wear the uncool pack each day! :lmao: Oh, and we will also have Pal Mickey, at least for the first day to see how he works!

By the way Blestmom, i'm also an Alaskan. I lived in Petersburg up until going to college in Seattle and then Pennsylvania. So glad to see a fellow Alaskan on here!

I got mine a few weeks ago. They came soooo fast! After looking through them, I started to realize how many other things I wanted to highlight. It's in getting those little things that I start to get so incredibly excited. 4 months and 10 days to go!

Since the maps arrive so quickly I think I'll wait to order them til it gets closer.

I asked way back but I think it got lost along the way...

For my fellow PA Snowbirds- Has anyone gone to the Disney Outlets in Lancaster? Do they have good deals? It's only about a 45 minute drive for me and I'm hoping it will be worth it. I'm making it my bday present to myself at the end of this month. Hey, I'm turning 30 so I at least deserve a day at the Disney Outlet store- without children!!!:yay:

QOTD-
I used to bring a draw string bag with water bottle, wallet, hat, sun glasses, and cell phone. It is really easy to sit on/squish on the roller costers. I don't even have to take it off my back.
Now I have a bagggallini Urban backpack-which is smaller then the draw string bag, but it has a wallet compartment to hold cards and cash. I really enjoy it, but with a hat in the bag it is hard to fit a water bottle.

I actually just took my sister there yesterday! I was disappointed with their selection, as they didn't have any movies other than that Jonas Brother thing. They did however, have some great stuff on the clearance rack. My sister and I both got pajama bottoms for $8 a piece; we were quite pleased with that. :wizard:

Oops, I was talking about the one in Hershey. I haven't been to the one in Lancaster but now that you mentioned it, we may have to take a day trip over there!:lmao:

I have a question of the day --

what do y'all take into the parks? Every time I travel somewhere, I always seem to lug a really heavy bag around with me. When I went to San Diego last spring, I did a lot of walking, which was a lot of fun except my bag got heavier and heavier as the day wore on. I want to avoid that at Disney and just take the basics. Basics being my camera with a few things stuck inside my camera bag such as my cell phone, credit card, ID, cash, chapstick, maps, extra batteries [I have a good-sized camera bag]. I've got a lanyard for my KTTW and fastpasses. What do y'all do?

I have this "vacation purse" I carry with me. It's got a wide shoulder strap and is meant to cross my body and rests on my hip. It's got one of the built in change purse things and storage for ID's and cash, credit cards, etc. It then has a couple more zip-up pockets, which are the perfect size for small snacks like granola bars, small packages of advil, and so on. It also holds a small point and shoot camera.

Of course, my p&s camera died and I've replaced it with gigundamundo digital SLR. I have time to decide if I want to take it or not. It's kind of a pain to take with me because it's pretty big but it takes such lovely pictures!!

Yeah! for another trip Splash!

So sorry you had another loss.

We're glad you're back. :goodvibes
Thanks trixie! Yes another trip, how did I get so lucky? The best part is that my mom is super excited too :)
Welcome GrammyJudy and welcome back Splash!

Splash- I stayed at ASMo on my Senior Trip (10 years ago), but I did love it. The theming is great and it is just an all around fun place to stay. You will really like it.:goodvibes
I'm so glad to hear that, because my mom and I are wanting to go to just have some fun! And of course to do some serious 'girl talk', I'm sure we'll discuss everyone in the family while we're alone :rotfl2: I mentioned to my mom that a nice glass of wine and watching Illuminations sounded really relaxing and she agreed!
Good to hear from you Splash! :goodvibes

Sorry for your loss.

Congrats on the November trip! If I were to stay at a Value I would go with ASMo! You'll have a blast!!

Yay :yay: My mom was leaning towards ASMu but now she's fine with ASMo! We're only going to do one ts meal on our first night, and I'm taking her to WCC for her bday dinner.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words....I missed all you snowbirds :grouphug:

I am thinking about adding the Alice Tea Party for my kids, boy and girl, one of our days. If you have done this do you think it was a good extra? Thought it would be fun to do one of the busy days. We will be there the Jan 1-9 and the first few days will be really busy so we are not spending A LOt of time in the parks. Thought this might be nice to do

I have not done this, but I have read awesome reviews on it. I plan to take Belle one day. I think you should do it for sure!

I've been to the outlets in Hershey and found that they really didn't have much that interested me. I've not been to the one in Lancaster. Perhaps I'll take a drive ;)

I found this thread about the outlets. It seems to be hit or miss just like the one in Hershey. Still going though I think just for a fun day trip :)

Oh and I added to my bin tonight too! Stopped at Walmart for diapers and found Mickey Mouse Club House T Shirts on clearance for my ds for $1- yup a whole dollar!!!! They had Wall-e for $3 but not in his size. :(
Now both my kiddos are even with the t shirts at 4 each- time to stop buying t shirts I think.

QOTD:

I will have a cinch sack i bough in MK in '06 its perfect to carry things i still want to have on rides with me, probably in it will be a small towel, extra batteries and memory cards, $$, and my journal...in case i get some inspiration...

for my camera i have a small P&S with a small case that looks like a miniature backpack that can go across my body so the camera can come on rides with me and always be there when i need it instead of being in the bag on my back.

we will have a stroller...its an evenflow...got it at kmart for a great price...it works great but is a little bulky for bringing on the buses...i will use the basket to hold a bag of pullups, wipes, change of clothes for DD and some snacks, plus if its chilly and gets warmer later in the day we can throw the sweatshirts back there too!

i wish it was january already!:sad2:

I got notification that mine shipped. My mom hasn't mentioned if they came or not! I'll have to check in with her.

There's a great scrapbooking store at the Hershey outlets! One of my closest friends works there, which is new since I left the US. I can't wait to visit her and see that place. I think I'm going to go into shock! There isn't a scrapbook supply to be found in this country, so it seems. Little bits here and there...but an entire store? Yowza!

So, I'm thinking of betting one of those 1 strap baggalini bags. Good reporst on them? I saw they were selling for the same price on ebay as they were from the retailer. Is it too big to take on rides? Comfortable? I'm so conflicted about what to carry. I just told Scot I was thinking of getting this bag. He listened politely and then gave me the "More Disney talk" eye-roll. I love my husband! :goodvibes How he puts up with all my obsessiveness is beyond me! :lmao:

And I had a terrible thought: what happens after January? Since this board is so huge and I don't visit too many places, I feel like I'm getting to know you all a little bit. What happens to our little group once our trips have passed?:sad1:

I've been to that store at the outlets. It is nice. I'm new to scrapbooking and it was prior to my interest that I went, so I didn't "see" how fantastic it was back in the day. There is also a really nice one in Carlisle, if you ever get that way. It's small but has a ton of stuff.

As for the Baggallini . . . that's the one I just bought and I love it. DH think I look like a dork but I don't really care. It matches my Mickey Mouse Athens Crocs :goodvibes
