Looks like we're coming from a variety of states, but was wondering if there are any other January Snowbirds coming from Iowa?

Good morning fellow snowbirds, I know this thread is about January and I cant wait to go then but I just booked a trip for November 2009 for me, my mom and my son at the Caribbean Beach Resort (Pirate Room ) and was hoping that someone could tell me about the resort. I have never stayed there and after looking at the resort map I must say I am a little scared . The place is huge! Can anyone give me advice and tell me more about why you like or dislike the resort? I want to go into this knowing everything possible so there are no suprises! Oh and my son will be 4 then so I am going to sign him up for the Islands of the Caribbean Pirate Adventure, he will love that .

Ethansmommy, I've never stayed there but Shelly raves about it!! CBR is where we would love to try to upgrade if by some miracle we get a huge discount with a PIN or something.....

I would LOVE to tell you about CBR!

CBR is great! Beautiful grounds, white sand beaches, hammocks by the lake, Caribbean music playing quietly everywhere, a relaxing tropical feel, a beautiful bridge and island, great and huge food court, friendly CM's, double sinks in the bathroom with LOTS of storage space underneath, and the largest rooms of all the moderates! All that, PLUS a new pool. It’s like a vacation within a vacation, a “leave your worries at the door” kind of place! Oh, and don't forget the Pirate Cruise and Pirate rooms!

Yes, it is a HUGE resort. Disney's largest I believe. If you book a pirate room you will be in the farthest out building - Trinidad South. That was the most undesired location because it is the furthest from Old Port Royale (food court, restaurant, pool, and gift shops). So Disney is making them into pirate rooms and now everyone wants to stay there and they are charging extra for it. Pretty smart on Disney's part!

So, do be prepared to walk! But the grounds are beautiful. There is a bus stop near every village, so your walk to the bus stop will be short.

Anything else you want to know, just ask! We've stayed at 3 of the 4 moderates now and CBR is the only one we want to go back to! And we can't wait to see the new pool. We just hope it's warm enough to swim in January!

Morning, snowbirds! I need to call today to place that deposit on our package, now that they only give you 7 instead of 14 days to do that. Of course I'm sure it will be a while before I see the credit on my billing statement from the deposit I had on my room-only! I wish they could just transfer the money- wouldn't that be easier on everyone? Oh well.

I agree, it's a lot of extra work for cm's to go through.
Today I'm planning to print up my adr cards. I print each days adr's and ressie #'s on business cards, that way they are small enough to fit in a wallet and we have the ressie# in case there's a problem. It works great, it's much easier than carrying them all on one sheet of paper and trying to keep track of the paper! I print a copy for DH to carry too. At first he thought I was going overboard w/ it, then one time he was checking in for dinner while I was in the restroom, and they couldn't find our adr and he was able to give them the ressie# and everything was fine. He was glad I insisted he carry those little cards and now he 'reminds' me to print some for every trip!

Sea Ray Sea Racer - $30 per 30 minutes; $40 for 45 minutes; $45 for 60 minutes. Driver must be at least 12 years old and 5 feet tall. Two person maximum, 320 pound maximum.

17 Foot Boston Whaler Montauk - $45 for 30 minutes. Driver must be 18 years old. 6 person maximum

21' SunTracker Pontoon Boat - $45 for 30 minutes. Driver must be 18 years old. 10 person maximum

Guided Bass Fishing Excursions - Up to 5 persons for: $250 for a two hour trip 7am or 10am; $225 for a two hour trip in the afternoon; $435 for a four hour trip at 7am or 10am. To reserve call 407-WDW-BASS.

The rooms have 2 double beds. I'm not sure what the pirate beds are going to be, but probably double too. Have you seen the pics of them yet? They look awesome!

My friend actually got the shirts for the boys right before our first trip. Her husband is a truck driver! So when my kids outgrew them I gave them back to her for her kids! I'm not sure where she got them. I know that she got them when she was visiting family in Indiana. Not sure if it was a Disney Store or not. I know that they must be hard to find because we got lots of compliments on them when we were at WDW and even the CM's would tell us that they had never seen shirts like that before.

FUN! Question: what is a LGMH and a baggallini? I have no idea what I'll be wearing!

A LGMH is a paint sample that you can get at Home Depot in the shape of a mickey head. Lime Green Mickey Head! DISers use them to recognize each other in the parks! People tie them to their bags, strollers, baggallini, etc. A baggallini is a type of bag/purse that a lot of people use to carry around the parks. I think. Don't have one.
