Please give a warm Snowbird welcome to my friend Mari! We met on the DIS probably about the beginning of 2007 (on the MAYer thread!) and we both went the same week in May 2007, but sadly didn't get to meet up. Then as luck would have it we both went again the same week in May 2008! And, we both had an ADR at Chef Mickey's at the same time and were seated 2 tables away from each other!! How exciting it was to meet someone that you have "talked" to for over a year!!

I'll have to look for that picture of us at CMickey's!

Shardoc check out the thread on the tour groups on the resorts side found it this am I would think that if they are a problem at your resort something could be done to make you happy.

Trust me the MOM LOOK works!! I own my own coffeehouse(ie my siggie) in a tourist town we get LOTS of tourists that dont speak English & that look aimed at inappropriate behavior works on everyone!! Even grown ups. Yes I have had to use it on grown men too.


I really think you have a great time If you do run into them at the parks turn & go a different direction. It might just have been us but we didnt see them too often at early EMH. Or at the parks early at all so maybe you can plan around that too.

Answer of the day::: ASAP!!! No honestly as soon as the kids are "done" with summer type clothes I put the ones I think will still fit them in Jan in a tote box ready to be packed for our Jan vacation.

Cool idea! I do this when we bring our grandchildren. However buying surprises for children are probably easier. LOL I would think about the following:
coffee cups
hats
picture frames
magnets with year on it
photo albums
key chains
just a few ideas. enjoy

We could use the surprise idea for the car ride down too, if we end up driving! I did it when we flew here and it was a real pick me up for the kids! I gave them little surprises at set intervals, which were also based on behavior. They loved it!

We got them mini-etch a sketches, pictures, art supplies that can be used on a plane, small action figure type dolls...I can't remember what else!

Hmmm...now I'm thinking!

Thanks - I know I'm probably just worked up because I found some of the other threads here on the DISboards and read them all at once. I am fine with tour groups at the parks - everyone has a right to be there whenever they want. We're driving so we don't have an issue with the buses. I just don't want my time and or enjoyment at my resort restricted or be forced to stay in the room.

My Disney Shopping package arrived already!! Too bad the kids spotted it before I did. The UPS guy left it in the garage. Now they are hounding me to open it. So I told them that it was just some shirts! I'll open it after bit when they go to VBS and make sure it's all there and then hide everything until Christmas!!

I'm tentatively going in jan, only i haven't planned anything because when we go depends on when dbf has a break from his job that requires a lot of travelling. He just started recently so we don't know what dates we are going, the hotel, if we are doing ddp or ddxp or where to eat, even how long we will be there for. Lol i'm pushing for 10 days + in disney and dbf is trying to cut it down to like 5...

The plan is iffy cause i can't really plan without solid dates, but i'm reading feverently on the boards and reading reviews and trip reports etc.

My plan so far is 10 full days in disney, and we are doing 3 days at universal (b/fs idea) we will be flying in from bc, canada and hopefully i can rope my dad to escort us there cause he works for an airline xD 90% off flights but standby. I'm currently working on convincing dbf to do 2 weeks but he wants to do 10 days total in florida. We'll see what happens.

I had previously decided that i wanted AKL and BW but after reading more i'm kinda leaning towards WL and Poly even and for budget maybe pop? so hotels are up in the air.

Yay for everyone else going in jan and actually being able to paln it ;_; i'm so jealous. Hopefully i'll be able to see your there

I'm gonna have to pack extra early this time! I have to be all packed for when we leave college town after finals, so the week before Christmas! I was thinking about getting a tote together so I can throw stuff in as I think of it. I'm already dreading packing actually!! I have to pack to go home, pack to spend New Year's in Canada and pack for Disney And hopefully I can get it mostly done early so I can concentrate on finals. Oh well, it'll all be worth it

Hello Snowbirds

Have any of you done the "Keys to the Kingdom" tour at MK and if so would you recommend it? We're thinking about doing this on our 'down' day in the middle of the week instead of horseback riding which we would do the afternoon we arrive. I read that it's $60/person for a 4-5 hr tour, plus we'd have to add an extra day to our tix to gain entry into MK. Any thoughts?

Good ideas! I actually thought about pictures frames after I posted. Whoever said the Hidden Mickey book, that is a good idea too. Thanks for the input everyone! When I decide what to do I will post here.

Okay, my son's nighttime CD just started playing "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow." I CAN'T WAIT!
