We always get rain no matter when we go. We have gone the first 2 weeks of Dec, in April and in May over various trips (with Dec being our fave). This will be our first trip in Jan so we are going prepared for rain as always. We don't let it stop us, though the chillier rain in the winter months does kill our spirit just a bit. We go with our ponchos in our backpacks and always head to AK when it rains or rain is in the forecast for the day (unless of course it rains every day!) since the animals love the rain and those have always been our fave days at AK. We don't let the rain stop us, we just go until we feel soaked through and then head back to the hotel for a break and change of clothes. And we always do the water rides like Kali since we are already wet!

As far as rain is concerned, this coming January will be my fourth trip to the Mouse during that very first week in January. I've never encountered rain during that time before (although I have had frost!), so I'm hoping this isn't the first time!

Love the list by arrival date! hope to see some of you there, and let's hope for good weather. I found out that the Lotusphere conference will be there the same week I am -- the last full week of Jan. Anyone know how this may affect crowds?

I will be packing lots of clothes for layering! I bought my boys those zip off athletic pants that turn into shorts. Also i got them long underware that they can wear under t-shirts and easily remove and if it gets cold at night they will be nice and warm. Of course, we never go this time of year without our mittens and jackets!

Lotusphere will be going on the week we are there too. Hopefully everyone will be there during the days, but whenever there is a conference I expect to see the hotels more crowded.

Ok, I did some research on the Lotusphere conference and it will be at The Dolphin it looks like. They offered the following rates at WDW resorts:
WALT DISNEY WORLD SWAN and DOLPHIN........$189/night; single or double (not inclusive of $10.00 per night Resort Fee)
Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts......................$225/night; single or double
Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort...................$125/night; single or double
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort............................$125/night; single or double
Disney's All Star Sports Resort...................................$72/night; single or double
I expect these resorts might be more crowded than usual at this time of year if conference goers are not WDW experts and booked at these hotels and rates. We all know the rates were cheaper for us with the discount codes !
I think maybe the Epcot resort area will be more crowded than the other locations and I am sure many will be coming for the conference and bringing their families for the week. I had no problem getting a room at the discount rate at POFQ at the 60 day mark so I am not too concerned. Also there might be many staying totally off site. I know when my Dh goes to conventions they will never ay these prices. They like to put him in the cheapest hotel possible even if it is 20 miles away from the conference!

I just read that they had 5000 people at the conference last year and their goal this year is 6000. In the scheme of the "World" this shouldn't be too noticable even if every person goes to the parks.

We're taking a very quick trip January 22 through January 24 to Pop Century. We usually stay in one of the mods, but because it's such a short trip we've decided to go value (we've done the All Stars but it's been a long time). I'm really looking forward to staying someplace different for a change.

Then I get to start planning my December 2005 trip to AKL.

Not sure if I posted before so sorry if I am doing this twice(Im almost 40, the mind aint what it used to be)

We will be at CBR from the 7th til the 9th with some fellow marathoners. Then from the 9th til the 15th at SSR. Looking forward to staying at both places, because both will be new to us.

DW is doing half marathon with some DISers. I will be attending the International Builders Trade Show later in the week at the Convention center.
