January 19,2008 / Eastern Magic / "The January Thaw Cruise"

Any of you East Coast folks getting the snow or rain this week end? Looks like it's a bad storm out there.

Brett

Here in NC we are under a tornado watch till 8pm...
ALot of wind and rain right now, had some hail earlier. Its rained most of the night, and of course the ditches are starting to fill up.

How is everyone else?? Is snow predicted for anyone?

I just hope by next Sunday(wedding day for daughter) it warms up and the sun is out.....keep your fingers crossed.pixiedust:

Just a little snow & a little rain. But a lot miserable here in MA. Luckily it doesn't look like it will be as bad as they were predicting last week. They had almost thought they may have to cancel the Boston Marathon!

Power-outages throughout RI and the Airport is shut down because a wall collapsed due to all the rain and wind.

But here we are at work....work, work, work....gotta pay for that cruise!!!!

9 More months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

I heard Kenny Chesney this morning made me think about sinking my toes in the sand with a drink in my right hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And if this weather pattern doesn't break soon, I may go insane!!!!

Have a great day everyone!

Welcome aboard Gixer....we have some girls in that same age group that will be thrilled to have others to hang with!!

Can you believe that it is April and we are that much closer!!!:thumbsup2

I booked this cruise in December....so forgive me as I count it down.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi Cheryl,

Thanks for the welcome! Do you mind if I join you in your countdown? the months just cant tick by quick enough! :hourglass

Glad to hear that there will be other kids for DD's to hang out with - I thought the cruise might be full of pre-schoolers at that time of year, how old are the kids in your party? Im going to try and get DD 9 (she will be almost 10 when we sail) moved up to be with DD 11, I can keep better track of them if they stick together!

:woohoo:  :woohoo:

I just did a check to see how full the ship will be and found that about 50 cabins are left... she be fill'n up quick.pirate:

Brett

Gixer: we have our son 6 y.o. going on 7, 2 months later; A few girls: 5, 8, 8, 9, 10, 11. The boys: 4, 5, 6, 12. that's the group as it stands now....I might have missed someone. We have a few others that are contemplating the trip....however with Brett's news, only 50 cabins left, they better book, or get off the pot...:rolleyes1

Cheryl

by the way.....weather has taken a turn for the better here in RI....warm and sunny today.

Wow Cheryl thats BIG party! you guys all celebrating something or is it just a family/friend get together? My youngest DD (9) is excited that there will be other girls her age too, she sometimes gets a little left behind by her older sister.

Weather is fine here today too - even the penguins are looking hot and bothered! :rotfl:

It looks like the ship is going to be sailing full capacity - is there going to be huge crowds of people all over the place? will there be anywhere to get a bit of peace and quiet? and more importantly - is the queue at the bar going to be 10 people deep? :scared1:

If you go to YouTube and put, Disney, Magic and cruise, into the search, they have a lot of video's that other cruisers have taken. This might give you an idea of the size of the crowds.

Gixer: At the moment we have 5 definite families with 2 that are on the fence....however, if plenam is correct they better hurry up!! We are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary...renewing our vows  while we are on board. We will be eating at Palo on the Thurs. 1/24 after we renew our vows, in case other diser's want to join the fun. I know, I sound so young!!!:rotfl: The computer will do that to you....actually was married at 21. Why, we are not so certain. :rotfl: Oh, that's right....we love each other!!!

As for the bar......that is why they have the men come to your lounge chair, so you don't need to be in the line...they deliver the drinks. Although, my DH loved the bucket of beers on RCL and will more than likely do it again. Greatwhite's DH had the buckets piled up to the ceiling on their Hawaii cruise 2 years ago!!!!! Good times:cool2:

Cheryl

Thanks for the tip on You tube! will go an have a look :surfweb:

DH wasnt (isnt) to keen on the idea of a cruise, but he did look kinda interested when I just casually mentioned 'buckets of beer' :lmao:

We are planning to eat at Palo on the Thursday night too. I cant wait to try the chocolate souffle it looks gorgeous, we are not even going for another 9 months and already I have chosen my desert! Cant make my mind up between the filet mignion or the lamb though? Ahhh well by the time Christmas comes around I should hopefully have an idea! :lmao:

Congratulations on you anniversary - how amazing to renew your vows on board the ship:love:

I was reading Royal Vizier's TR....I think it was his.....and he posted all the yummy food at Palo!!! OMG, can't wait to get the brunch resev. Because we are doin a VR on board, we are bumped to consierge service so we can book well in advance....sooooooooo..I will be certain to do so!:goodvibes

My husband wasn't too keen on cruising either, but then we went on the EOS and he fell in love with cruising. We are huge fans of the mouse and so we knew that our anniversary cruise had to be on Disney. And like I said, those bucket of beers made Dave a very happy guy.

Whats everyone doing for pirates night? are you all dressing up or not? have seen some cool costumes online for the kids - dont think I will be able to persuade DH though! A pirate T shirt and eye patch/bandana is about the best I can hope for from the old grouch! :lmao: pirate:

We were also thinking about Palo on Thursday night! Of course since we are not Castaway Club or Concierge and YOU all are going that night, how likely do you think we will be to get a reservation?

If the ship is really full, what are the chances for good times at Palo, spa appts & shore excursions being gone? I know they save some for on the ship, but are the times decent or are they like 4:30pm for dinner?

We are not CC members or consierge either, I figure Thursday night at Palo is going to be very popular, I will try and get a reservation at the 75 day point but will just have to take whatever I can get I suppose! I would rather eat there at 4.30pm if thats all they have available than not at all :thumbsup2

I am going to get to the terminal early so I hopefully get #2 boarding and then I will abandon my family and rocket up to the spa to try and get one of the villas booked for the couples experience which cant be pre booked on line.

I would love to do the CC Cabana massage too but dont hold out much hope for being able to book a session, its very popular and will probablly be all booked out before the 75 day point :sad1:

I would continue to check everyday on the cruise also, there is always a chance that someone will cancel.

With all I have been reading, it does seem like fore-warned is fore-armed and that if you don't get the time you want on-line, once there, it seems most people are accommodated. Let's face it, not everyone is like us.....thinking this far in advanced:thumbsup2 I can't tell you how many people I know that go ito Disneyworld without even the slightest plan formulated in their heads and then walk around bumping into everyone else as they stare in amazement at all the things around them.:rotfl2:

As for Thurs. night, because we have such a big group, I guess there is a private room/area in Palo that they will sit us at. We are renewing our vows at 6:00, so we are going up to Palo at 7:15.

And yes tpirate: we will be dressing up for Pirate night....how could it be fun if you don't get dressed!!! My niece is a pirate freak, so we will be borrowing some things from her. My husband and son were pirates last Halloween in Disney, so DH is ready, and we gave DS's costume to one of the people coming along with us, so our group will be dressed accordingly!!!

ooooooo can't wait!!

cheryl

Well there are now another 2 people booked onto this cruise - my parents, and they dont even know it yet!
Have managed to book them a Navigators verandah room which I am so pleased about as I though they would all be gone with only 50 cabins remaining!

Not sure how I am going to tell them - any ideas? We wont have seen them in over a year so its going to be really special :cloud9:
