January 18, 2014 FANTASY 7 Day Western!

Hey Y'all! I'm Lori from South Carolina. This will be our family's second cruise. Our first was on the Dream in December 2012. There are 5 of us. My husband's name is Dallas & we have 3 sons, Benjamin (16) Harrison (14) and Dawson (5). We picked this date kind of late, but I think that may have made me less annoying...a little, lol! We are very excited to meet everyone!:cool1:

:welcome: loran424!!!

We booked late, maybe a month or 2 out, for our last cruise and not having to wait so long is awesome!!!

Looking forward to meeting you too! Please see this post for info on our Embarkation Day meet-up as well as the Facebook group, and fish extender thread. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=49810691&postcount=334

We are flying across country too. From Sacramento. Ended up going through southwest. I think we did pretty good but I don't fly often so I'm not sure.

Seattle for us. United was cheaper even with one checked bag (we'll do the rest carryon) than SW was, which was surprising. And they had better times/shorter layovers.

Question - anyone bought trip insurance? We're debating it. Wondering if you have and where through. We used Allianz when wen went to Japan... We may just insure the cruise portion in case we're too sick to get on...

We are still trying to decide what to do in Grand Cayman. I would like to do either the Snuba or the Shipwreck Snorkel. I guess the main difference is the price - Snuba is $69 and Shipwreck Snorkel $39. Has anyone done a Western and done either of these? I tried searching for them for reviews but it's so hard to find Western reviews! In the other ports I am seeing ruins and J is going to the beach so both d these are different to our other port days.

Ideally I would like to spend longer in Grand Cayman because there are like 5 excursions I want to do and thankfully DFiancee really wants to go to Jamaica so I guess we have another Western to do in 2015.

We did several excursions last time and had a lot of fun just walking around the ports as well. Taking it easy this time and taking a catamaran ride on grand cayman I think. Going to try to enjoy more time on the ship as my DD said last time she didn't get enough time in the pool. ( to be fair it was a Mexican riviera trip in February so it got a bit chilly). AND anyone whose kids spend a significant amount if time in the Oceaneers club, last time the kids did a little performance but we weren't adequately made safe of it so we missed it.. My daughter still complains that we weren't there to watch her... But I would make sure to find out in the first few days if/when the kids are going to do it on this trip.

I keep watching our cruise countdown but it's just not moving fast enough!

I just PIF!!!! Can book stuff Sunday at 9pm. So excited that it's getting so close!!!!!!

When is the balance due date for our cruise? We're already PIF, but we're wait-listed for the early dinner seating. Our TA told me that our best chance at switching was right after the balance due date, when some people tend to cancel their bookings.

Hello All -- We are very excited to be on the Jan 18-25 Fantasy Western Carribbean! We are a family of 4: me (37), husband Ed, Abigail (6 1/2) and Matthew (4 1/2). We are new to all of this but I will follow this thread to see what you are all up to! Looking forward to meeting many of you! Oh - we just bought the kids pirate costumes today at Spirit Halloween for 50% off!

It's great that our group of DISers on this cruise continues to grow and grow! ...But it's also getting pretty clear that the embarkation meet-up will need to be held somewhere else. Hopefully someone who has cruised before could take the lead on this.

We got our costumes too. My DD can't wait and I have to keep hiding the costume from her. Lol

So what has everyone booked so far? Palo? Remy? Nursery? Snorkeling? Ruins? Diving? Adventures? Please share! We booked Palo brunch, stingray sandbar, ruins in Costa Maya (my one "must do") and my husband is renting a jeep in Cozumel for the day.

Yea its nice to have such a big group for the meet up! I will look into where it is normally held on the Fantasy as i've only ever been on the Wonder :confused3

Has anyone on here been to a DIS meet up before on the Fantasy?

We booked Palo dinner, Palo brunch, Remy brunch (but only for me), snorkeling in GC, ruins in COZ and ruins in CM for me, and power snorkeling for fiancée. For the CM ruins I booked through Native Choice and not Disney.

I would love to participate in the meet up. Please keep me posted on a time and place.

Have a magical day!!

We'll have DN 10, DS 9, and DD 8 (turns 8 in December) with us, so far it seems there will be a number of kids on board despite the timing in the school year. Welcome! :thumbsup2
