Speaking of packing, what types of clothes are people bringing? I just don't know how to dress for Mexico in January.

Shorts? Skirts? jeans? t-shirts? long sleeves????? HELP!

I was thinking about this over the weekend and realized that packing is not going to be as easy as I'd hoped (ie, 3 days of clothes and doing laundry in the middle). I've been reading people's comments about the recent cruises and it sounds like the first day in LA will be coolish (fall clothes), the middle days in Mexico will be quite warm and humid (summer clothes), and then the last sea day coming back to LA people have said is very windy on deck and cold. So I'm guessing it's going to be an overstuffed suitcase or two with everything from swimsuits to jackets!

Of course, I live in Northern California so anything below 63 degrees qualifies as 'cold' to me.

We're from Utah. I don't pull my coat out until the temp drops below 45. 50 if it's windy.

I think I must be getting excited for the cruise. I had a dream last night that I was talking to the cabin steward and he offered me a free FE. We're not even doing the FE, not to mention that I've never been on a cruise before.

My wife just laughs at me when I tell her these things.

Hey - does anyone want to link reservations for dining? It's just me and my DW (our DS1 is staying with grandma) and we've got late seating. I'm 30 and DW is 25 if that matters to anyone.

Yay, finally I got our room assignment , booking 4E GTY, and got 4A. Everyday I am login to check my room and hope I got another room from last January. I want the other side of boat. and I got it... I am happy!!!

We've never been on a cruise, either. Our cousins (Mom2Aidan2002) who are joining us on this cruise have also never been on one. We've got quite a few cruise newbies it seems!

We're all really excited, too. Our twins are 2 1/2 and are very excited, so that keeps the excitement going for us, too. Every single day they talk about when we go on "mickey's big cruise ship" and talk about how they want to meet Goofy, Mickey, etc. We are going to take them to San Francisco one day before the cruise to go on a ferry ride around the bay. I'm going to try to do it on a day that there is a cruise ship docked so that they can see what a big cruise ship looks like before we get to LA for our cruise.

Melly - OK, what is a Cat 4??? I can't find that booking on the website. What is the difference between port and starboard side (other than the view when you are docked?)

DH and I are pretty quiet people who don't do a whole lot of partying or drinking so if this seems to pair up with your cruising style, we could link our ressies for second seating dinner. I figure, we are going to get put with other people anyway, might as well get to know eachother before the cruise, right?

Well, we got a call from DCL today... we've been upgraded from category 9a (delux ocean view) to a 5b (w/ a verandah!), and we finally got our "refund" of a whopping $19 + change, LOL! But, I'll take the room upgrade anyday! New Room # is 7116.

Camille - how far from LA is San Fran? My geography stinks but I thought they were pretty far away? DH and I were in SF a few years ago and it was so nice, it's a shame we live on the East coast and can't get back there more often.

Well, we got a call from DCL today... we've been upgraded from category 9a (delux ocean view) to a 5b (w/ a verandah!), and we finally got our "refund" of a whopping $19 + change, LOL! But, I'll take the room upgrade anyday! New Room # is 7116.

It's a 5 or 6 hour drive from LA, depending on traffic. It will probably take us more like 8 hours to get to the port since we'll have to drive across LA to get there. I live in the San Francisco bay area so I can be at the pier in San Francisco in just under an hour. Oh how I wish DCL would do a few cruises out of San Francisco!

Although I received no phone call or email, I logged onto our reservation tonight and discovered we'd been assigned a room - 2018. No pixie dust - we booked 9c and got 9c, which is fine. However, I'm pretty nervous about it because I heard the front of the ship gets the most movement and can be bouncy. Since this is our 'test cruise' to see if we like cruising, I'm hoping I don't spend the whole week sick! I will most definitely be asking about upgrade availability at the port. Or maybe even by phone tomorrow. LOL. Hopefully it will all be ok.

Jcmh..not to worry.. on the Panama Canal cruise we were a LOT more forward than you are and didnt feel a thing..so it should be fine..issue on cruises is always Rockin Bar D noise ( the bass noise)..your cabin should be ok..

Cat 4 Is for Deluxe Family Oceanview with verandah. The one I am booked, has verandah with solid white wall, I got upgrade to the one with clear wall. Last January, we got room no 8092. We got the left side of the board. so We got the ocean view when we are in the port, this time we get the port side. Since we done Mexican Riviera last January and got a lot of picture of the that view, so I gonna take picture for the other view for the next one.

Welcome to all the newbies!!! I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving feast but didn't go to over board...I mean there is tons of food to eat on the WONDER.... I have added you all to the web page and I see NanNan and Mom2Aiden are gonna do the FE. What about the rest of you new comers?? Also Anyone doing the FE, if you are willing we have been adding the names of everyone to our web page. If you aren't willing please let us know that so maybe some of us doing personalized FE gifts can send a PM for the names. I know there is a few doing personalized gifts.

Since it's just me and I'm going to try to pack lightly, I'm not participating in the FE. I'm up for hanging out in Cove Cafe or Outlook during the day and Wavebands at night, however.

I finally purchased my flights. I'm flying in the day prior to the cruise (hopefully that's enough of a cushion coming from New England) and staying at an LAX-area hotel and then staying 2 nights after the cruise over by Disneyland.

For excursions, so far I booked Salsa & Salsa at Cabo. I did the Coastal Highlights tour when I stopped there on the Panama Canal cruise. For the other Cabo day, I may just wing it and walk around the port area. I can't decide whether or not I'm doing anything at PV. I did the Mexican Cooking one for PC (and absolutely loved it!) and am considering repeating it because it appears to be at a different location so may be a bit different.

Thanks! That is reassuring. My family can sleep through a loud bass line, so I'm not too worried about that. Will bring ear plugs just in case.

Melly - Ahh, now I understand why you want the other side of the boat, got it! How did you find out that you have a clear verandah vs. white wall? So many questions. I've never thought this much about the cruise experience before. usually, i just show up, LOL!

The Cat 4E that I book, all of them is have the solid white wall verandah. The clear one is a nice treat for us. I don't have to worry about the kids (Last time, the stand on the chair to see the ocean. Last January, we saw a lot of fish on the ocean)

I did MR cruise last January with DCl and this will be my second one.

However I made a specific page for the FE so if you go to that page it has the FE list. Will all of you please go to that page and see if your info is correct for the exchange. I still need info from NanNan, mom2Aiden, grlzmom stateroom #, and for yarraridge , travispete, munchkins101, luvugoofy, and shireenordway I need to know if you are doing the FE and if so I need info.

NanNan...I have basic info on there but waiting for names and who is in each stateroom.

I am assuming those of you with multiple staterooms will have a FE outside each stateroom for those in each room. That is how I am listing it on the FE list.

Congrats to all of you who have gotten your staterooms and some upgrades. I am still trying to get mine moved from the location it is....we will see what happens....I probably will be where I am but I won't make the mistake of booking GTY again. I honestly thought the room I am in wasn't a delux.....owell.
I am just excited to go. I can't believe 26 days and I will be telling my girls!!!! I am putting a puzzle piece in each present and then they will have to put it together to see where they are going!!! can't wait!!

Welcome to the group! I was starting to worry that we might be the only Canadians in the group. I have thought about doing the dolphins, the kids would love it!

Yes, the dolphins were my idea. My daughter and her boyfriend were in Cabo in August and went on the dolphin encounter and the boys were so excited to see them kissing the dolphins. We booked the kids encounter for them the second day in Cabo.

Think we might just get a glass bottom boat for the family the first day in Cabo, depending on how we all are feeling. I know DH and DS and DDIL want to hit a couple of the pubs and do some shopping in Cabo.

The kids and DGS's are doing the Pirate Cruise in PV. DH and I are doing the Mexican Cooking, sounds great.

Looking forward to meeting you. How old are your gorgeous kids?

Congratulations on the upgrade! Our rooms are both with verandahs, the only way to go!
Nothing like waking up in Cabo to the sound of the SeaLions barking and having your coffee watching the activity in the bay!
