January 15, 2011 - Magic

Well, the suitcases are out but I haven't gotten to sorting through the clothes and actually packing...have to see what fits first (my 3yo DD has shot up since the summer and I'm crossing my fingers her summer clothes will still fit). I have my 'little black dress' for formal night, but may go out to find a suit for my 7yo DS (since we have a wedding to go to and his First Communion this spring, I know he'll get use from a suit). Next thing will be deciding on what to do at each port-still deciding between Le Galion beach or Pinel Island at St Maarten, but want to do jet ski's too and not sure if those beaches rent them ... Then have to figure out what to do at St Thomas. In our past 2 cruises we went to Trunk Bay on St John's which is the most gorgeous beach I've ever been too, but maybe it's time to see something different!
Anxiously watching the weather forecast, hoping for good driving conditions from CT and warm sailing weather :) 10 days to go, woohoo!!!!

Hey Jen!

First, where in CT? We're from Danbury - and someone else on board is from Bethel (or are you the Bethel folks?).

We're doing a snorkel excursion (I think) called Wakawa on Pinel Island. From what I've read, Pinel sounds lovely, but I'd be surprised if there were jet skis. It sounds very mellow.

Hey Julie, Yep, we're the Bethel people-we're practically neighbors! I think we may end up doing 2 beaches at St Maartens-I want a laid back family friendly beach for my 7yoDS and 3yo DD, but the guys in our group also want to rent jet skis at St Maartens' as last time that was the cheapest island to do so... we'll see. Either way the beach will be better than CT!!

I keep thinking about packing...does that count? I have piles of clothes ready to be reduced by half and then thrown in the suitcase.

We still haven't made decisions about what to do at each port. DD10 said she'd like to stay on the ship one of our port days. I think we like the Magic a little too much.

I read somewhere that we don't have to get up at the crack of dawn on our St. Thomas day to go through customs before anyone can go ashore. Does anyone know if that's true? I remember DD wore her jammies and we all crawled to the Walt Disney Theatre at 6am the last time we were on the Eastern itinerary. I hope I wasn't dreaming about that changing. :upsidedow

What are you looking forward to the most?

The last time we were on this itinerary was bak in January 2009 during the same time (MLK week). When we got to St Thomas we did not have to do anything special for customs, like get up early or go to the theater.

Hello,
I've been reading DIS boards for years and finally decided to join for this cruise. I wanted to get some great door DISigns and to get on the meet boards this time around.
I know it is a little late, but better late than never.
I know I am too late for the FE, but I would like to join the Scavenger Hunt for my daughter Jessica (10). She has been reading some of these posts and getting excited about all the girls her age :yay:.

My husband and I will be doing the Twelve Metre Regatta in St Maarteen.
We did it on our first Magic cruise and loved it.

Our group will be: Kim DW, James DH, Jessica DD(10), Kaitlyn DD(3) Then Grandma Lou and Grandpa Charles (60's) in the cabin next to us. (They love cruising and I finally talked them into a Disney cruise)
So that is our happy group. :dance3:

We would love to join the Scavenger Hunt. Such a great idea.

Also if there is a pen pal group for the 10ish age girls my Daughter Jessica would love to be included.

Thanks, Kim

Hi Kim ~

My DD10 would like to write to Jessica - I'll have her do that in the next couple of days via private message on disboards or email.

Send me your email and I'll send the Scavenger Hunt to you!

Sharon

FINALLY!

Have you given up on getting the Scavenger Hunt? :rotfl:

I will be emailing it late tonight or sometime tomorrow.

If you want a copy and you are not on the Fish Extender list that Neil made (which includes email addresses), please send me your email address via private message and I will blast it off to you.

Cannot believe the cruise is almost here!!!! Yay! :cool1:

See you all soon!

Sharon

I know, I can't believe it's almost time for the cruise-time to call to stop newspaper delivery, make sure my dog sitter knows the routine, etc!! woohoo! -Jen

Does anyone know what the best stop is to rent jet ski's? I remember from my 2006 Western Caribbean cruise that Castaway was more expensive, and we found cheaper rentals on St Martin - but I'm not sure whether we're going to that same beach this time. Any recommendations from past cruisers?
thanks, -Jen

Hello, Does anyone know of any discounts for the cruise ship parking lot? With a big group going and potentially carpooling, it's cheaper to drive than to fly but a discount on long term parking still wouldn't hurt :)
Thanks, -Jen

Can you add me to the list to receive the scavenger hunt information. I think this is a great idea

Is everybody packed  ?

Working on my spread sheet with the list of clothes. Collecting documents and that kind of thing. Hit walmart today and got a waterproof watch and sunscreen and rechargable batteries. Last cruise I had to buy a watch on the ship after got burnt to a crisp snorkeling at a resort before the cruise. That was a loooong time ago. I wear a shirt now.

Back to my spread sheet. Need to make sure I have some big hoops for pirate night.

I just sent out the Scavenger Hunt via email. Let me know if you don't receive it soon.

I can't find email addresses for the following people who expressed an interest:

Melino
Belle091507
threegirls_ohio

Send me a private message with your email and I'll forward it to you!

Okay, if you start quoting yourself, you spend too much time on the disboards...

I went back and checked real names vs. monikers and I think I do have Belle091507 and threegirls_ohio on the email list. Hope you got the Scavenger Hunt.

I need to go to bed now. Good night.

Are you getting excited yet?

I'm all about the food!

Eeeks, I made a mistake. :confused3

For those of you with the Scavenger Hunt, you need to add one more blank letter to the first word of answer #5 in the "Sing a Disney Song" section. I knew I shouldn't be doing this late at night. :surfweb:

Have fun!

Nice pictures Thomprod. Definitely helping getting ready.

Let me be the first one to say it...one week...7 days...who's feeling it?

Plus don't know if everyone is on facebook but this was posted on there regarding a meet...if it was well here it is again...

"DIS Meet is now confirmed for 3:00p on Saturday 1/15 - Promenade Lounge (Deck 3 near Animator's). We'll do a short introduction and group activity to help connect the age groups (kids to adults). Looking forward to meeting you all!"

Tim
