January 15, 2011 - Magic

Well, I haven't seen anything about Friars Beach- but both Le Galion and Pinel Island look good for us (with little kids). Any input? ANybody know if you can rent jet skis at either one, the guys want to do that too?
-Jen

There were all sorts of watercraft rentals not too far down the beach when we visited Le Galion. There's part of the beach that isn't protected - that's where the jet skis and such were.

I'm not able to post links yet, but there's a good website that describes all of the major beaches on St. Maarten:

sint-maarten dot net

That being said, this site does not make any mention of jet skis at either Pinel or Le Galion. I don't know if that means there isn't any or they just didn't mention it. Pinel does sound like fun though.

Well, maybe there aren't rentals near Le Galion anymore. It's been a few years since we were there.

I would like to send out copies soon. I haven't tried sending attachments through private messages on the disboard so I may need to collect email addresses. I will let you know. :surfweb:

There will be questions for all ages. Some will requires hunting for information around the terminal and some questions will be in puzzle form. You'll need pencils/pens to complete the answer page. If you submit the completed answer page to Stateroom 6634 (leave it in our Fish Extender), you'll receive a little momento of the Scavenger Hunt. :yay:

Hope all your cruise plans are going well. I can't believe it's almost time to go! :cheer2:

Is it too late to join. My sister has signed up her two children and I don't want to my 7 year old to miss out on the fun his cousins are having.

I sent you a Private Message via the DisBoards regarding your question.

We just found this board -- oopps! It's our first time sailing, ever, and my first time posting in a discussion board. We are from Ohio -- sailing with my husband and 3 daughters ages 10,9 and almost 5 (we'll celebrate my daughters 5th birthday on the ship). We can't wait! If we can still get in on the scavenger hunt, we'd love it. I actually used a scavenger hunt on Christmas morning to tell the girls they were going on a cruise. What fun! Looking forward to it.

Hi there- my daughter is turning 5 on January 23, so we will celebrate her birthday on the ship as well. Hopefully they can meet up. Mine is a TOTAL girly girl and lives for the princesses.

Can we join too??? Pleeeeeease. This is going to be our first disney cruise. The kids our sooooooooo excited. Not too sure of our cabin info etc yet, but we are a party of 4. Myself, dh, our son (7) and daughter (turning 5 while we are on the cruise 20th). Let me know what all info you need.

Welcome, threegirls_ohio! :welcome:

I'll add you to the list to receive the Scavenger Hunt.

We're from Michigan and we have a 10-year-old daughter who will be on the cruise as well. Even though the big blizzard missed us, it's getting pretty chilly tonight so we're looking forward to the cruise. :daisy: I know Florida is cold right now but I'm hoping it will warm up by the time we go.

Have a great time getting ready!!!

I thought I had responded to the scavenger hunt -- I'm so sorry. Is it too late to add out daughters: Hailey (12) and Jessica (8)? We're already on the FE list.

On another note - anyone have suggestions for good snorkeling - but, not too expensive? We avoid the ship excursions (too crowded, controlled and overpriced for us) - and we're looking for a good novice snorkeling adventure.

Thanks!

~ Eric

I've added you to the list - sorry if I missed you when I looked through previous posts.

I saw another poster ask, but I didn't see an answer - is there anyway to find out what movies will be playing on our sailing?

Sharon, you are the best. Thank You for taking care of the scavenger hunt.

I can't wait to sail and get out of NY. We got 20 inches of snow yesterday and I am so looking forward (more so if that's possible) to getting away and being on the cruise. These next 2 1/2 weeks can't come fast enough.

I think your daughters are in luck as this cruise seems to be littered with girls around 9-12. Some of our daughters have been going back and forth with a little pen pal action to try to get to know each other. Even though you are late to the party you can jump right in. The scavenger hunt would be a good way.

Tim

Can we join in on the scavenger hunt as well? My daughters are Katie, Julie and Elizabeth and are 13, 11 and 9, respectively.

Thanks for the consideration.

Only 18 days until we sail!

I have added you to the Scavenger Hunt list. I'll send something soon! Have a great time planning your trip.

Anyone else NOT receive their documents yet....????

Talk to my TA and she said DCL is sending later and later in order to save on copies, hoping people will do the online check in. My TA has not received them yet and said she will let me know. I am leaving in 17 days...and don't want to get nervous but we have no tags or anything else.

Tim

I saw another poster ask, but I didn't see an answer - is there anyway to find out what movies will be playing on our sailing?

I called and the movies listed for our cruise are:
Tangled 3D
Tron Legacy 3D
Toy Story 3 3D
Socerrers Apprentice
Up
Pricess and the Frog
Alice in Wonderland 3D
The Last Song
Step Up 3D
You Again

This is current as of 12/28 and is always subject to change.

You don't really need the actual documents. All forms can be filled out online before you leave. You need to bring the signed Online Check-In Signature Form with you. Additional copies are available at check-in if you don't have it completed before you leave home.

Normally, you will receive luggage tags with your documents. But, if you're arriving before your cruise departure date, you don't even need them because you'll not be going directly from the airport to the cruise terminal. If you'll be renting a car or limo to get you to the port, you can get luggage tags from the porters at the terminal. If you're staying at some Disney Resorts prior to the cruise, you can get luggage tags at your resort when you check in for the cruise.

The only situation that might be a problem would be flying in the day of the cruise and using DCL transfers. Normally, you would tag your bags before boarding the plane at your home airport so that the bags will be sent directly to your stateroom on the ship. If anyone is in this situation, I recommend calling your TA or DCL directly for advice before you leave.

Thanks for checking on this! I was hoping Tron would be on there. We haven't had enough free time to go see it. I'll just save (and save $$) that for on the ship.
