Anyone sailing with us?

Bump, anyone else?

Yes, we are: DH, DD 20, DS 31 and his DW 30 and me. We sailed last month on the Eastern and rebooked onboard. This will be our 5th on DCL.

Who else is joining us?

Yay!! Someone is joining us!
There will actually be at least 5 other couples traveling with us. Various ages, some with kids, some without.
Anyone else? :flower:

welcome to the :sunny: group Chris!!

Hi Everyone,

Wow does Jan. 2006 seem far off or what! We will be sailing with you also, myself DH, DD 6 and DD 8. This will be our 3rd Disney cruise. Jan 2005 we just did a Royal Carribean and hated it. Never again. We will stick with Disney from now on!

Talk to you all soon :earsgirl:

Dana

Dana,

Just curious, what did you not like about Royal Caribbean? Have never been on it, don't think we would like it either. Even though my kids are grown we all still love DCL. Jan. 2006 is such a long ways off I agree.

Hi Jackie,

Well you asked what we didn't like about RCCL. There were alot of little things. First of all the kids club activities just didn't measure up. They actually had a better kids room which was much bigger with tons of computers and when we first saw the room we were very impressed. But they just didn't seem to do much with the kids. Also, the hours were awful. You had to pick them up for lunch and then for dinner and then if you wanted them to stay pass 9 pm there was a per hour per child charge.

We were on the Mariner of the Seas. It was the one that was all over the news as being a sick ship. Well fortunetly we didn't get sick but it seemed everyone else was and nobody really seemed to care. The food quality was poor and the ice cream machine by the pool only worked for the first day of the cruise.

Lastly, the Captain was not great, he had just published a book and it seemed like all he wanted to do was push people to buy it in the gift shop and then would have book signings. The rest of his staff was never anywhere to be found. I couldnt even tell you who the cruise director was.
If you did see a staff member they were always trying to sell you something whether it was a drink or bingo it seemed like someone was always there looking for money. I have never been asked so many times if I wanted a drink while at the pool. It was very annoying.

It just didn't compare. We really missed the Disney touch and the attention to detail that you get with Disney.

Only 10 1/2 more months, right! :sad2:

Welcome to the group!

We actually enjoy other cruislines over DCL. We're just not the type that needs to be immersed into Disney Magic all the time. I prefer teh shows and dining of other CL's.
The one place I think Disney excels over others is the kid's clubs. I hate the hours and how they open and close the clubs on RCCI and CCL. On CCL the parent that checks the child in has to be the one to check them out, can be a PITA at times.
Our son is still young so that's why we still sail DCL.
We'll be on CCL's new Valor this summer. It will be interesting to see how the club will work out. I have read in reviews that they have stepped up the kid's programming a bit on this new ship.

10 months from today..... :earsboy: I can't wait it seems so far away... I wish it were today...LOL

Let's give this another bump. :sunny:

Myself, my husband and my twin DS age 6 will be on the cruise. This is our third Disney cruise and we can't wait!! The boys can't wait to go on the Magic again - they had such a great time and loved the kids clubs!

Cool! Welcome to the group!

We will be cruising on the Magic on Jan 14, 2006...IF my daughter can be potty trained by time our final payment is due. She will be 3.5 by the time we cruise so I can't imagine she won't be, but since she refuses right now, I can't bank on it!

It will be DH, DD and myself. It is our first cruise...ever. We will be celebrating the completion of DH's grad school.

Welcome asreitzal!!! Congrats to your husband on graduating grad school! I'm sure you daughter will be ready to go by then!

What a great first cruise! Good luck on the potty training.
welcome to the :wave2: group.

DH and I and our DS's (7 & 5) will be going for our 2nd 7-night Western and we can't wait. We've talked some friends of ours into going as well :cool1:

Anyone worried about what the weather and seas will be like in January? Our last DCL was in May and the weather was perfect and the seas were very calm.

Welcome goofymama - my boys will both be 6 when we cruise! Maybe they will hang out in the kids club together! :)
