January 13, 2007 - 7 Night Magic Western

Thanks DiaLady!
We fly out tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. They are telling us maybe 1 inch of snow tonight so that isn't too bad, but super cold temps. I keep telling myself that we have all day to get there, so even if there is a glitch somewhere along the way we'll have time to iron it out.

Just a quick post - I've got a list a mile long here at the office today to try and finish before we leave....

I hope everyone has good weather and safe travel! It looks like we are getting out of Chicago ahead of any trouble here. (Skylynx - looks like you'll be ahead of the mess too!)

Bytor1 - Thanks for all the weather updates!!!

Everyone - Remember to print out the "Who's Going" list and the DIS Meets info from the website. It is really helpful to have it with you! We had some updates in the last couple of days - but it is now "final" since I won't have a chance to do any more changes.

See ya' real soon!

Safe travels, everyone...looks like we are going to slink out before the next Chicago snow...good luck Coloradomom...make sure we catch up on the cruise...we'll be in Denver three times this summer/fall.

We are all poised and ready...have to go kiss the horses goodbye tonight and bring the winter blankets out the barn as Chicago is expecting some pretty cold temperatures midweek. Both DH and I have been busy dousing all the work fires that seem to flare up just when you think you've got them all smoldering. We are SO READY for a vacation!

For dog people only who aren't easily offended by offcolor doggie things: we have two golden retrievers, a year-old pup and an eleven year old. I took them to the vet yesterday to get their shots updated in case the petsitter needed to take them anywhere else for any reason. The vet told me, and this is no joke, that while I was on our trip I should think about having my older dog's anal glands expresssed. I can tell you, my dog's anal glands are going to be about the LAST thing I want to be thinking about on this trip! Jeez!

We've printed our boarding passes for Southwest but will check in once more tomorrow morning on our thread to see if anyone else is still lingering. If i forget...last one out, put out the lights!

I'm starring out the window at beautiful, sunny skies in Orlando. We arrived late last night and used the Emerald Club Aisle. For anyone coming there was a great selection. Lots of SUVs (Rav4s, Jeeps, etc.), 1 mini van, mostly bigger than midsized. We ended up getting a Chevy Trailblazer. Can't wait to get started on our cruise!!!

Patio_29 . . . glad you had a good experience with the car. We did Budget's fastbreak for the first time. After waiting in line for about 15 min, DH saw the sign to go directly to the garage. They were quick and we even got an upgrade to a luxury car. The boys are enjoying the leather seats . . .LOL (and new car smell).

We're off to Sea World today. We're meeting my DB and BSIL for dinner tonight. They flew down to WDW with their kids for a long weekend. Then we're headed to the port to Country Inn & Suites. This time tomorrow we'll be able to see the Magic from our window! Yea!!!:banana::banana:

Gotta run and finishing packing everything . . .see ya'll in a bit!

We are leaing in two hours to the airport. I hope everyone has a safe travel day and we will see you on the boat tomorrow.

Tim

safe travels everyone ~ we are leaving in about an hour to get the kids at school and head to Manchester. 24 hours from now we'll all be on the ship enjoying :cheer2:
See you all then!

Just one question. It is 5:03 PM, Friday evening. Flight leaves at 8 in the morning. Do you think i should start packing yet or is it just a bit early? :confused3

See you all tomorrow!

Packing is relevant . . .LOL . . According to one 5 year old on the boards, you only need your swimsuit and 50 stuffed animals . . .

We're here at the port. When I checked in at the Country Inn and Suites (very, very lovely!!!), I requested a view of the port for DH. He wants to see the Magic pull in tomorrow. . . just so you'll understand why he looks a bit bleary eyed from staying up all night . .

Our goal is to leave at 10 AM . . . see you in the AM!!!!!

:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Please post live from your cruise.....I have friends cruising along with you!
Thanks!

Just got back and all I have to say is WOW!!! Sorry I did not get a chance to meet you but it was one of those weeks...as I am sure one of you can at least tell from the lifeboat drill. Sorry if the family was a bit crazy and I wasn't all sun shiny at that moment. Well, need to have my servers get me my dinner oh damn that isn't going to happen will talk later. Hope everyone had a great week and a safe flight/drive home.

Tim

Hey all! Sorry we couldn't meet up with you - between getting to the terminal after 1:30 and trying to keep up with what DD and DH and I wanted to do it just didn't happen.

I did want to say a huge THANK YOU! to pdarrah and 'tinkerbell' for leaving the very cool pirate goodies!

And we're back in CT and it's only in the teens! BRRR!! I want my sunny and 80's - I knew I should have hidden on the ship this morning! :lmao:

To PDarrah - Thank you so much for the goodie bags on Pirate night!! pirate: I didn't have an opportunity to do any of the Dis Meets because we had my husband's family with us and we spent most of the time showing them the ship and what it had to offer.

There is already a thread started on the trip reports for our cruise!!

It was nice to meet those of you from the DIS boards on the ship. I hope everyone had a "Magical" time and made it home safe. It was very depressing to come home to snow and 20 degrees!! :sad2:

Now time to get back to the real world and catch up on laundry. :laundy:

Well, we have similar reasons as those above for not making it to the meets but wish we had. Thanks for the goodie bags! So sweet of you to remember us.
The cruise was fantastic - the only negatives being: mostly absentee table mates with whom we had absolutely NOTHING in common, save their daughter; and, 19 hours after our arrival home and our luggage is still missing... all 6 bags. :(

But other than that, no complaints whatsoever.

One other note... I gained... count them folks... I gained 11.5 lbs!!! Crap!
Took me 6 weeks to lose that, and I gained it in 6 days...n ot bloody fair at all. i won't get to eat diddly for months now....
and it was all worth it. :)

Hi All --

Well, we TRIED to make the meets, too! Pdarrah . . it was great waiting in line with you to sign in . . .that was the last I saw of ANY DIS members . . . LOL. Ah well . . . maybe next time. Hope everyone had a fabulous time and signed up for another . . .

HI, ALL!!

What a wonderful cruise.................DH really outdid himself and made this an absolutely incredible birthday!! :cloud9: We had a great time from the minute we stepped on our plane at Dulles and he had so many surprises up his sleeve, it was hard to keep up. And, DD pulled a few tricks out of her hat, too. I should have brought waterproof mascara for the cruise as I seemed to model a "waterworks" factory several times.

One of the highlights of the cruise for us was getting to meet Cutie Pie (Mary Beth), her DH and their DD. What a truly lovely family! From the moment we met them, it was obvious that they love being together and have lots of fun. The two DD's "met" via e-mail before the cruise and got to make lots of memories together during the cruise. The new dinner rotation made it a bit challenging as we had the earliest seating and their family had the latest but we still managed to enjoy the time we had together. Mary Beth designs these incredible hand bags and totes - they are so well thought out with pockets in all the right places and all the right sizes. She had one bag in gorgeous tropical colors and another in this beautiful blue Mickey Mouse fabric that was simply adorable and perfect for the DCL cruise. She handmakes them and I was so impressed by her talent, craftsmanship and attention to detail - I am in awe.

With only 12 hours on home soil, DH has already hit the road again and has probably just arrived in Mexico City. Erin and I were spoiled having him all to ourselves 24/7 for 10 days but this is a quick trip (just long enough to avoid shoveling the forecasted snow for this PM - which he pointed out in a text message he sent me while boarding!!)

We headed back to the back lounge area after we checked in at the terminal but didn't find any other DIS Members. We had to make an unplanned stop at the grocery store so we didn't get there until about 1120. I did wear my lime green DIS lanyard hoping that someone might recognize it but no luck. I'm so sorry to have missed meeting all of you.

The Magic was just as Magical as I remembered it and I'm so glad we sailed and hope all of you have just as many magical memories!!

Glad it was wonderful for you and your family!! I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to meet, too. I'm wondering that all the DIS folks didn't get to the terminal until later . . . LOL Enjoy your recovery time . . .

We too didn't make it to the DIS meets. We arrived at the terminal at 3pm and most people are already having fun on the ship.

This was our first cruise and it's trully magical. I think the shows make this a unique experience.

My 2 year old son start having fever once he got home yesterday. He's fine but just very tired. I guess he had too much fun on the cruise.

I'm compilling all the pictures (close to 1000 pics & videos we took plus scanning in all the fantastic pics the pros took) and want to create a music video before going back to work tomorrow. BTW, we broke through the biggest picture package. Is that common? I would suggest DCL change the way they do pictures to be more modern, but finding your pics every night is actually fun.....

Even though we didn't meet everyone, this board did help out a lot.

I will try to post some trip highlights to the trip report section.
