January 10-14 2010!!! 4 nights on the Wonder

Thank you everyone for the great FE gifts. When I was out delivering some I had a man stop me to say what a great thing we we doing. He said twice he passed little kids coming back to their rooms and squealing with delight.

We wound up having a memorable trip both with 'incidences' and a lot of laughs. We got lost several times (thank you mapquest), lost and recovered a wallet, lost and recovered a suitcase (between leaving the ship and getting to the resort), had our stateroom flooded on the day at sea (which also included no water or electricity and not being able to get back in the room until 5:00), endured the record cold day at the Magic Kingdom the Saturday before the cruise, lost a camera at CC (didn't recover that).

Sorry to hear about all the people who got sick on or after the cruise. At least we didn't have to deal with that on top of everything else.

The FE were a lot of fun. My DH and kids liked playing "santa" to make deliveries, and it got them out of the room for a bit!

We were also at MK the Saturday afternoon before the cruise, after being at Animal Kingdom that morning in the cold and rain. Though cold, it was an awesome afternoon/evening at MK since there were no lines!!! We walked straight onto everything we rode that afternoon/early evening.

Sorry to hear about the camera at CC. Did it get lost, or do you think someone walked away with it? I hear many folks talk about how safe it is to leave things out on CC, but I always think they forget they're sailing with 2000 others so you just never know.

The camera was lost in the water. DH and DS went snorkeling and had it in a pocket. They went to take pictures of the fish and shark and realized it was missing. I was disappointed because I had taken some good pics of DH flipping out of one of the hammocks. We did take a ton of good pics with our digital camera though.

Sorry that you lost your camera! I always hate losing things like unsaved pictures that can't be replaced, but at least you have the memories! And glad to hear it was from someone taking it. You restored my faith! Now wouldn't it be amazing if some DCL CM found your camera, used the face recognition on the ship to figure out who it belongs to (unless it was labeled), and then sent it back to you? That I imagine would take a lot of pixie dust!!

You guys saw the shark too?
Here's our pictures.

This may seem like a weird question, but did your son go snorkeling with a tall red head who saw the shark? My DH tried to take a kid out to see the shark and he said something about losing their camera.

Nat...Those are incredible shark pictures. Where did you take them? At the family beach? My DD wouldn't even allow me to take her above the seaweed.
We saw a few fish about a foot long or so. Nothing larger. I guess I'm glad I didn't see the shark, probably would have not swam at CC.

RoxyRose--you went through so much on the cruise! I'm glad they did some things to help your stay get better. Did you ever find out how the stateroom got flooded in the first place?

Nat- no DH has 'platinum' (aka gray) hair, though he did have on red swim trunks.

No we never got a straight answer on what caused the flooding. Our friends in the next room asked their room attendent and was told a tub overflowed. But there was flooding further down the hall from us also. And I don't see how a tub overflowing could cause that many rooms to be affected. I talked to our neighbor on the otherside the last night and she was told a pipe burst and that 10 rooms were affected, and that theirs and ours got it the worst.

I do know that it happened somewhere between 12 and 1 am Wednesday morning. I had a knock on the door at around midnight saying housekeeping. But I didn't answer the door because I didn't think they would knock on doors at that hour, and the teen club had the 'Gotcha' game going on. I thought it was maybe one of them trying to knock my son out of the game. My son came back to the room around 1:30 and said the water was already there when he came in (didn't bother to wake us up to tell us about it though).

We are home and doing a big pile of laundry. We spent some time with my Father in law and we had a wonderful day at WDW on the Friday after the cruise. Then we had a few extra days so we hung out at St. Pete's Beach and had the most beautiful weather... A wonderful trip! Thank you everyone.

Roxyrose: We were only a couple doors down from you and we asked them what happened. They said a small pipe in the wall leaked. The CM said "Small pipe made a big mess". They worked on it for quite awhile and the hallway was wet. %20 off next cruise sounds very useful. I hope it didn't spoil your good time.

Thank you all for a very enjoyable cruise! We also enjoyed being in room 2058 and highly recommend it for future cruisers. It was close to everything, very quiet, and with the cool weather, we didn't miss not having the verandah.

Baidoo, we were just down the hall from you in 2050! Okay, I'm not sure which way was which with rooms, but did you get some of those streamer thingies stuck in your FE with a note? We left them cuz we didn't know what to do with them, figured someone else might like them, lol! Sorry, that was our attempt at a FE gift, hahaha!

And omg, a shark?! Why isn't anyone freaking out, lol?? I would have totally flipped! How big was it? We found a mangled starfish, lol. Actually, my friend found a silver dollar or whatever they're called. Our dinner seatmates found a live starfish, an octopus, and one of those conch thingies. All on the adult beach.

Maberlyne,

Thank you for the streamers. Our DD was totally thrilled with them and still plays with them above her Barbies as "fireworks from the cruise."

We really liked our location and would choose it again.

Hope you had a great cruise!
