Jane E.'s Fitness Journal

I ate so much lunch yesterday that I decided not to eat any dinner. For dinner, dh had a huge avocado salad with Gewurtraminer wine. He poured me a glass but I took two sips and dumped it. I didn't want to add anymore calories to my day!

I've decided to skip breakfast too in hopes that my caloriefest will even out.

I've got lots of Christmas/Birthday/NYE shopping to do today.

I had a splurge last night too! But I figured I am going to allow myself one splurge evening per week and not feel guilty about it. You only live once afterall!

I bet taking those vitamins on an empty stomach were the cause of your nausea. Some of those things are pretty potent! I hope you feel better today!

Have fun shopping! We will be decorating all weekend since we didn't have time since we were too busy with the wedding details...

Hi Jane!

Sorry I've been MIA, just been busy busy with work, and now DH's work schedule is changing which will make things crazy around here. He's been on night shift for a long time, now suddenly will be on days again. No one here in the afternoon with the kids after school, etc. And I know this sounds crazy, but I'm used to the bed to myself and no one next to me snoring!! :rotfl: It will be an adjustment but I hope it all works out.

Sounds like you're doing well, but challenged with things during this season (aren't we all?) Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving, are you getting the shopping done?

gotta go, wanted to check in and say hi. :sunny:

Morning everyone! I'm sure its been a crazy weekend for everyone. Saturday: lunch: jr bacon cheeseburger at Wendy's. Dinner: dh and I originally were supposed to go out. I talked him into staying in. We got takeout from Chili's, a bottle of champagne & watched "Its a Wonderful Life" while eating on the couch.

Yesterday we went out for Sunday brunch - mimosa's & eggs benedict. We used to split an order but he wanted something else. I ended up eating the whole darn thing. Last night we had company over for the football game and grilled out chix. We had fajitas, nachos, coronos w/ lime & champagne. The Bucs won!!! I was happy Indiana won too. Thats where our former coach is at now. In fact, I think that they're undefeated. I had two glasses of champagne, 1 fajita but ended up eating cheese nachos later with everyone else. If I hadn't done that I think I would have been ok. I also had Ghiradelli chocolate & turtles for dessert. I had two of each.

I got dh an mp3 player for Christmas. Ds has been helping me getting that thing going. I also bought one for myself. I always buy my own presents. Dh gets mad but he just isn't a shopper. Now, we'll have matching mp3 players! I can't wait to get mine full and start using it on my walks.

No workouts but tons of walking. I've talked dh into taking me see The Chronicles of Narnia today. (We don't do movies on weekends - can't stand the crowds.) WHen my kids were little I read the whole series to them a couple of times. I'm just as excited to see this movie as some of the little kids are!

I've had to switch my weigh in grocery store. The one I used to go to a month ago had their scale break. I started going to the other one. I figured after a month my regular store would have their scale fixed. No such luck. So I don't know how much I weigh. I'm going to try to hit the bigger store but it is swamped lately. I love my smaller grocery store - usually no lines etc.

Amy, how's your decorating coming along? You've had so much to do lately. I don't know how you keep up with it all!

Kate, I'm so glad you're back. With all of the health issues you've had a lot going on. I hope things calm down, dh quits snoring, and you're able to get some rest!

Let me know how you like Narnia! My ex took the kids this weekend, so we didn't get to see it... They've already asked if we could take them to see it again, so maybe there is hope afterall! We saw Mr & Mrs Smith this weekend. I LOVED it! It was way better than I was expecting. I almost had a negative attitude about it because of the whole Brad/Angelina thing, but I really enjoyed it. I just had to mention that because I know you are such a Brad Pitt fan! :teeth: In fact, isn't that the movie you walked out on in the theater? Obviously we can be diet buddies, but never movie buddies! :rotfl:

Your weekend looks about like mine. What can you do??? :confused3

We got all the decorations and lights up. The hardest part now is keeping the puppy (aka Spaz Monkey) away from the tree... :dog2:

Keep up all your hard work. :cheer2:

I've got most of my shopping done! :Pinkbounc While shopping I ran into one of my old neighbors on two different days. She does the mall walking thing everyday now. She's in excellent shape.

Today I did a 45 minute walk. I can't wait to get my mp3 player going. I forgot to add that I did a mini walk for 5 minutes yesterday.

breakfast yesterday; tomato basil veggie burger bunless w/mustard, oj

lunch: jr bacon cheeseburger from Wendy's

movie theater: water & Milk Duds

dinner: made quesadillas out of the leftover fajitas fixin's, grape juice

breakfast today: veggie burger bunless

Amy, I loved The Chronicles of Narnia. It was excellent. I thought they did a great job. Even dh enjoyed it. The special effects are amazing. However, with your taste in movies........... Speaking of Brad, why is Jennifer Anniston so boring in all of her interviews. I loved the charachter she played on Friends, she has my sympathy with her personal life & yet whenever I watch her interviews she puts me to sleep. From Letterman to Oprah she gives a bland interview. She's got to be more interesting than that!

This weekend is going to be much worse. I've got two birthday parties to go to. One is going to be at one of my favorite restaurants on the bay. They have the best appetizers & drink specials. Their quesadillas and crab cakes are amazing.

I love most movies, and I'm sure I'll love Narnia! I've actually heard that King Kong is supposed to be pretty good, which surprises me. I just like to veg out and not think about life for 2 hours. It's such a stress-reliever for me. :flower: Brad probably dumped Jen because she is such a bore... ;)

You have your work cut out for you this weekend! It's my b-day on Sunday (remember, same as Brad Pitt :lovestruc ). Gotta love those Christmas b-days. Thanks Mom and Dad... So have a couple cocktails with umbrellas for me! But no crab cakes - I'm allergic

What a great feeling to almost be done with your shopping! I still have a couple things to get. Usually I am done by Thanksgiving - I have been such a slacker this year... I think it is because I am actually making time for myself to work out. But of course it takes time away from some of the fun stuff, like shopping! :teeth:

You are doing great staying active. You will do awesome this weekend. Just pace yourself (except with my drinks, you can have lots of those :hyper: ) and you will do fine! :cheer2:

I weighed in yesterday at 158lbs.

Workout for today 50 minutes of circuit training.

I skipped lunch and had an early dinner instead.

dinner last night: tilapia w/onions, raisins & honey sauce. I haven't made this dish in years. I use to fix it with grouper but since grouper is gone I decided to try it with tilapia. I hope that I made it right - its been so long & I don't have a recipe written down. I also made a Rachel Rey recipe for the green beans - green beans sauted w/portabello mushrooms & onions. I had a little bit of this - I'm not big on mushrooms but dh loved it. The sauce calls for sherry, which I don't have, so I substituted white wine instead.

A couple choc turtles - The Christmas candy is here!

We had some relatives stop by at 9pm after they'd finished some shopping. (They did call first.) They had some pics they wanted to show us. I ended up fixing cheese nachos. I regretted that later! Cheese nachos & Squirt! I don't know why I ate'em. I don't like the cheese I got in this time. I bought a jalapeno cheddar which tastes like pimento cheese to me then I got in the four cheese Mexican & combined them. I either like pepper jack or sharp cheddar. I don't know why I ate so much. I get talking & there goes my calorie count for the week!

I haven't touched breakfast yet.

Amy, I hope you and Brad have a very happy birthday! My birthday is on the 17th. Christmas birthdays - what can I say?! Just another opportunity to watch out for holiday food. I have a meal with relatives at my moms on the evening before my birthday, and then on my birthday we're going out with a half dozen people for appetizers and drinks. That place does the best specialty martinis. :bounce:

I'm taking Mom out so she can finish her Christmas shopping, so it'll be a busy day.

Looks like you are in the same boat as me - weight hovering mode! I think the goal should be to maintain and not gain over the holidays. There are too many goodies out there!

That's cool that your b-day is the day before mine! I'm sure you can sympathize with the Christmas/B-Day gifts when you were little. My parents always made sure they separated the two but other relatives... My cousin's boy's birthday is Dec 26, so I think we got off easier than him!

Great job getting that workout in! Isn't it mind boggling that we will eat things we don't really care for in social situations? And you always kick yourself for it later... :confused3

You are still doing really good considering all the extra temptations. Keep up those workouts and you will do OK! :cheer2:

I haven't even started my Christmas cards yet!

There, I said it, and I don't feel any better.

Mom and I went out for lunch:
cup of chili and 1/2 chix salad sandwich - I did not eat the bottom slice of the bread and some of the chix salad - I got full fast.

Got some new sheets at Burlington Coat Factory. I wanted the 300 count but somehow when I got home I had the 250 count. I also bought some new salad plates since the ones I use are the same one we received when we got married. They're so boring I need something different. I also bought some Ghiradelli Peppermint Bark to throw in with the gifts.

Good news - my jogging pants from last year are too big and I have to throw them away.

Bad news - my size 12s are getting TIGHT. :guilty: Aacck!

Amy, I'm not only in weight hovering mode but also on cruise control going 100mph the wrong way!

Have a great time on your birthday. Dh's nephew was also born on the 26th. He really gripes about missing out. For some reason, aunts and uncles were the worst with the birthday presents. I remember hearing, "this is for your birthday AND Christmas!" I was also insanely jealous of my friends who had summer birthdays. They had the best parties & got the best presents.

Would it make you feel better to know that I haven't started my cards either? Not only that, I haven't even printed out the wedding pix that we are going to include with them...

Yay on the too big jogging pants! And great job stopping eating when you were full! Boo on the tight 12's, but they will fit again in no time, don't worry! ;)

I hear ya on the summer birthday envy. My kids were born in April and June, so they are lucky!

I hope you also have an awesome time on your b-day!! :cake:

I just lost everything I posted! AACCCK!!!!!! :badpc:

Here I go again. 45 minutes of walking - no food yet today.

I got to use my mp3 player for the first time. I love it! My neighbors came over last night and helped me work on it. (Ds had come over and shown me all of the technical stuff.) They helped me with all of the fun stuff. Now, dh and I each have our own player. The nice thing about being an adult is that we can break into our Christmas presents way before the 25th!

dinner last night: LC meal - some beef thing - I didn't like it. I gave dh the leftover tilapia and green bean dish. HE love it! I also had cranberry juice & Ghiradelli's peppermint bark.

Amy, we are the best moms! My kids, too, were born far from the Christmas hustle and bustle in April and June. However, younger ds always felt neglected because older dh had his actual birthday while school was in session - and always had a party on his actual birthday at school. Generally Matt's teachers had summer birthdays celebrated during the last month of school - but its not the same. I guess you can't win no matter what!

And I'm still wearin' those size 12s - all day yesterday!

I also grocery shopped at the store with the broken scale. It lists my weight as 154 - Its so nice get on the scale and pretend!

That is SO weird that our b-days are within 1 day of each other and our kids are in the same months (mine are April 23 and June 4)! Same dilemma with the June b-day - they aren't in school anymore. This year I am going to hand out invitations the last week of school so DD can have a party with her friends instead of us boring relatives...

I got DH one of those new portable Sirius radio/MP3 players for Christmas. I finally wrapped it and put it under the tree because I wanted to give it to him right away!

You are doing really good with your workout challenge! You are almost at your goal!! :cheer2:

I ate one meal yesterday - black bean nachos at 2:30pm, ghiradelli chocolate & grape juice. I took one bite of the quesadillas I made for dh - they had black beans, onions, green pepper, tomatoes -w/asiago/moz cheese. I made'em way too full and he had to use a fork to eat them.

This afternoon I'm making quesadillas for my lunch with everything I made for dh except the cheese - I'm using sharp cheddar.

20 minutes of yoga and 25 minutes of cardio with free weights. I'm in between WATP and The Firm. WATP gets boring but The Firm moves way too fast for me. Today, I used moves from both of those programs using my free weights & step. Plus I threw in a little Tao Bo.

Amy, that is so weird. My older ds birthday is 4/21. My younger ds is 6/10. My Dad's birthday was 4/23.

I love my MP3 Player. I go straight from my workout to do housework. Its amazing how much more quickly I work.

Wow, what amazing similarities! My oldest is also in April. How many years apart are your sons? My kids are 3 years apart...

How on earth can you get by only eating once a day? If I don't eat every couple hours, I get so grumpy I could hurt someone...

Way to go making up your own workout! Whatever it takes to keep from getting bored, right?

Keep it up!!!!! :cheer2:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I know you'll have a great time at dinner tonight!

:cake: :bday: :cake: :bday: :cake: :bday:

Amy, love that birthday post! Thanks, for thinking of me on my birthday! How was yours? We had a great time - went out for dinner & then caravanned to look at Christmas lights. I only had one drink - it was strong. Long Island Iced Tea w/cranberry juice instead of coke. It was good, but it took me the whole two hours we were there to drink it.

Saturday breakfast: skipped it
lunch: garden burger w/pear & ginger

snack: mint choc cookies that my workers got for my birthday

dinner: 3 slices of sourdough bread w/ butter (I couldn't help myself it was so good - but I couldn't eat very much of the meal after that.)we ordered a bunch of appetizers & everyone had some. I had a wild green salad, nachos,3 crabcakes. (Dh went wild for the Oysters Rockefeller.) I had one choc cake dessert & ordered 9 forks so everyone got a bite.

Saturday workout: 50 minute walk

Sunday: 10 min cardio
breakfast: garden burger
lunch: black bean nachos, oj
I worked 2 extra hours on Sunday & didn't get home until 7pm. I ate 5 ginger snaps & 4 mint choc cookies to tide me over
dinner: skipped it - I wasn't hungry by the time I got home. I did have a glass of orange juice

Monday: 35 minutes of circuit training
breakfast: garden burger w/ mustard

You didn't do too bad this weekend! Having just one drink is a major accomplishment in itself! :cheer2: My b-day was fine - uneventful and relaxing, just the way I like it!

I can't wait until these next couple weeks are over. The only bad thing is that I'm sure the gym will be extra packed in Jan with all those people making New Years resolutions!!!

You are going to make your exercise goal!! Great job, keep it  up!!!

Lunch for yesterday: 1 bowl of chili & 3 Ghiradelli dark choc squares

Dinner: 2 bowls of chili, 4 choc squares, oj

Snack: nachos w/ salsa, oj

10 minute walk today. I've been really swamped today - helping mom with wrapping. I've also started "organizing" our office & spare bedroom. Ugh! I've thrown out a big garbage bag full of papers that we just don't need. I bought some organizers & space savers at WalMart. What a job!

Amy, you're right we're almost finished with all of the holiday temptations. Can't wait until its over. Watch out at the gym for the slow pokes. Don't let them hold ya back!

How on earth can you eat chili and chocolate and oj in one sitting?!?!? Sounds like it would wreak some serious havoc on your digestive system!

I am so swamped at work since I was gone for 2 days. Nothing like coming back with 124 e-mails waiting for you...

Have fun with all your wrapping and organizing! Yesterday I spent almost 2 hours cleaning out the fridge. I also did the bathrooms. I swear, sometimes I think I am the worst housekeeper to let things get that dirty...
