Jan. Hours

If I call them can they tell me hours? Or the EMH schedule? I'd like to make my ADRs, but without knowing how late a park is going to be open that will be hard.

Thanks.

Did anyone see that Mark Goldhaber on Mouse Planet reported that Disney will be going back to 90 day ADRs soon? I just read about it on the TGM forums. It will affect some of us January vacationers if it's true...

But the biggie appears to foreshadow a major policy change. As of July 16, you will not be able to make any Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs) for any dates past January 15, 2009. ADRs needed for January 16, 2009 or later will not be able to be booked until October 15.

There are 3 exceptions: Chef Mickey's, Cinderella's Royal Table, and Victoria and Albert's.

It looks like Disney is preparing to move the reservations window from 180 days back to 90 days, with the exception of the three most-in-demand. While the days of walk-up, same-day reservations everywhere are probably gone forever, it'll be nice not to have to worry about what you want to eat half a year in advance.

I don't mind 90 day ADRs, but I sure hope it doesn't affect when park hours are released. :scared:

I didn't see that, but I've already made a few of my January ADRs. I leave on 1/4 and was able to get a reservation at Chef Mickey's for that morning. So it's not affecting me. For now that's just a rumor. (one I remember hearing last year around this time, before 2008 packages are announced)

Where are the park hours? I hate the wait. I got so excited that I could select January, and then, nothing! AUGH!

Augh, that's confusing. Hopefully it's just a rumour!

January 15th is half way through my trip. According to the above, does that mean I'll be able to make half my ADR's next week, and half in October!? Surely not. How bamboozling!! :confused3

Still waiting for those hours...!

Hmm... that's what it sounds like. Someone in dining posted a little more information they got from another site, though I can't recall which site. It stated that the 90 day ADRs would be a temporary state at that by August '09 or something like that it would go back to 180 days. I'll see if I can find it.

Found it. Here's the LINK to the thread. Here's what it says:

Details have not yet been finalized, but Disney will begin transitioning to a new reservation system sometime in the late summer or early fall. As a result, Disney will only be accepting Advance Dining Reservations up to 90 days in advance starting around August 1.

The reservation window starts growing again once the move to the new reservation system is underway, and Disney expects to be back to the full 180-day window sometime in the fall of 2009. We're told that this does not affect any existing reservations. We've also heard (but not confirmed) that Cinderella's Castle, Chef Mickey's and Victoria and Albert's will still have 180-day windows.

They got their information from touringplans.com.

Okay... They're doing to do a full upgrade to their computer system. That kinda makes since.

I hope I can get my ADRs in before any switch. I just want to get this trip planned and booked adn paid for, so all i have to do is wait.

We are planning for Jan 21-27!!!:woohoo: I've used the links for past years hours to guesstimate which parks we will do each day, but I would really like the hours to come out prior to July 25, when we can do our ADRs. :surfweb: What are the chances of them being posted on a holiday weekend?
Also, since we are staying onsite and it's off-peak season, are we crazy to ignore the touring plan recommendations and plan to go to EMH parks? It seems silly to avoid those parks when EMH are one of the "perks" to being a resort guest, ya' know?

If the rumor becomes true about the new ADR system and time (ie: 90 days for ressies) I don't think you will have anything to worry about. We are going from Jan 17-31 2009 and it looks like I will not be able to make any reservations until October. So the January hours should definately be out for a couple months before I have to book the ressies. So we shall see! :cool1:

Yes park levels will be low. Feel free to go to EMH parks. I normally do with the shorter hours in value season EMH helps. Duinging an Epcot EMH once I got to ride TT 8 times.

I'm going Jan 21-27 with txmommy34's family. She finally got me on the disboards because she kept reading all the helpful info to me. :rotfl: I can't wait to get there, and I especially can't wait to be there in value season -- I've only ever been at peak times! The whole "start waiting" thing is so right though -- the wait seems like forever!

Patiently waiting to make ADRs until hours are posted...or I'll give Disney until the end of the week...:rolleyes1

This is me waiting for the hours to be posted. First...

That's me too though. We ended up doing our ADR's based on Jan 08 hours, so hopefully everything will turn out ok. I wish they'd get them up soon though.

Where, oh, where are those January hours? As an obsessive planner, I'm going insane!
